Yup...came from Chicago. The previous owner is a friend of a friend I just wasn't quite in the market yet and he wanted the 12C you guys had. I'm torn on driving a car with PDK transmission is my biggest issue...as a purist I think the transmission ruins the driving experience, having tracked one I know how amazing they actually are.

I don't believe the guy we worked with works there any longer. Dominick was his name I believe. I"ve been passively shopping for a replacement for the turbo since it recently got destroyed...this one keeps grabbing my attention :-) http://www.toybarncars.com/pre-owned/porsche/911/2014-white-turbo-2677938.html

Jeff, congrats on the new venture. I wish you the best of luck over there. I'm not really a dealership guy, I've purchased 1 car EVER from a dealer and that was our 997 TT which came from Toy Barn. I was really pleasantly surprised with the whole experience buying through them.

Well played sir, well played.

Would not drive...black wheels are dumb

Good looking car, I would have replaced the lifters while you were in there, particularly the exhaust side.

What Z rated tires are you guys running?
AudiOn19s replied to Clifford Automotive's topic in Passing Lane
There's a reason that Pilot Super Sports are expensive yet always f'ing sold out and on national backorder, it's because they are the best all around street performance tire period. Quiet and not obnoxious on the street, great grip for the treadwear rating, decent life compared to some other super aggressive street tires, and they hold up to track day use without falling apart. We had Invo's on the turbo, I wasn't a fan of them over super sports but they really weren't as bad as I made them out to be. NT-01 is a fantastic tire and cheap but it's quite possibly the loudest tire on the face of the planet. You'll constantly wonder if you have a wheel bearing going out. My only experience with RS3's / RE71's and Rivals are riding in cars with them at the track, where they seem to more than hold their own. Can't speak to any downsides on the street as I've never experienced them there. I'm sure none of them are worth a damn in the wet but that doesn't apply to your use case. Tom's suggestion of Pirelli DH made me chuckle. Having some decent seat time on them now I can say I don't know how you drive them on the street Tom, they're pretty scary when not up to temp. I put Sumi HTRZ-III's on the GT3 for street rubber recently, honestly I had no drive to put the best possible street tire on that car because I tend to drive that car pretty easy on the street these days. When it's time to get serious I go r-compound or full race slick. -
I guess the difference with the GT4 is it shares a gearbox with....cayman s and GTS and as such nobody currently offers replacement gears since it's not a Motorsport box. BGB has a couple of options but they are not proving to have long term reliability in the race cars. GT3's have the same box as a cup car. There are 3 shorter ring and pinion sets available as well as nearly endless options for individual gear sets. So GT3 guys can do something about the gearing "issue" is they please. At Mid Ohio the shorter gearing isn't worth squat. At other tracks it's a distinct advantage but I've never been able to justify the cost of the upgrade.
-
It's a completely overblown complaint in my opinion. If you need to find a fault then yes the gearing could be shorter, but the gearing is effectively the same as the 996 GT3, 997.1 GT3, 997.1 GT3 RS and 997.2 GT3. ( critics complained there too and then quickly forgot). Only the 3.8 RS and 4.0 RS got shorter gears.

They are currently trading for $10k over sticker with 1500 miles or less. The only positive sign is Porsche recently released more allocations. Most dealers are still selling at sticker so the more allocations the better the second hand market. The issue is, even with more allocations it's not even a dent in the list of people hoping to pick one up. My good friend who sells for Byers has been trying to get me an allocation since our turbo got destroyed and can't make it happen. Given recent history of GT cars, in 5 years you might be able to buy a high mileage example for $75-ish. But this is a new GT car and it's still too early to really predict the trend My 11 year old GT car with 35k miles on it (and a butt load of track time) is still worth 65-70% of its new value.

Never tried Cryo. Given that none of the serious racing companies use this technology on race applications I can't help but think it's just a waste of money. I looked into this once and on other metals cryo treatment is more effective, but on Iron it hardly changes anything at all.

Tires as well. I ran 200 when I started tracking with my M3. I had to bleed almost every individual day on track to keep exceptional pedal feel. It just got soft way too easily for me. Not soft like pedal goes to the floor and brakes don't work, but I'm really picky about pedal feel and it just wasn't ideal after you got the fluid hot a couple of times. Motul 600 would last about 2x as many heat cycles before it started to do that. I went 9-10 days this last year on the Endless fluid before I bled to get better pedal feel. If you break down the initial cost vs. how much fluid I was going through with the other two as frequently as I was bleeding them, the $45 per 500ml or whatever Endless is these days actually works out to be not a bad deal in the long run. Obviously you have to determine what that point of diminished value is for you. IF you're running the ATE 200 and are happy with it and don't have issues with heat causing degradation then I don't see why you'd go away from it. If my car wasn't at the track as often as it is I'd probably have 200 or something similar in it.

Love that wagon.

I have Girodisc on the back of the GT3 right now. They were one of the only options for larger rotors for my car. I don't have any complaints about them but after 15 years of track work I'm over my expensive rotor phase. Pads, fluid, tires cost me enough every year. Speaking of fluid...we might as well cover that here too. Consider ATE 200 your budget entry point for what you want to do. Motul 600 is the next step up and worth the extra cost in my opinion. I run Endless RF650 and it's the best fluid I've ever tried but it's overkill for you at the moment.

Don't over complicate the rotor choice. You don't have to spend $$$$ to get the "best" rotor. If you want the best, look at AP racing or Performance friction. If you want something that works, is durable and inexpensive I've had good luck with stoptech slotted rotors. They are heavy as heck but they take track abuse and last forever. They lasted a whole track season on the front of the GT3 for me this year and they were $120 each. The rotors I had on there before that were $1100 each. Weight between the two was drastically different but performance and durability were similar.

I agree, carbotech is going to be the best people for the job. They will make any pad in their line in any backing plate shape desired. They are also easy to deal with on the phone. Call and give them more specifics, I bet you end up with XP-10 or 12 compound and when you lock in the compound they'll make them and you are on your way. Finding good pads for those front calipers from others is going to be difficult.

What car? What kind of track application? For the track stuff I do EBC's are generally horrible.

So we spoke to the prosecutor last week. She stated that she wouldn't move the date but took a statement from Yasmin over the phone, excused is from needing to attend and said worst case they extended the trial out to another date that we would have to attend later. So we go on our anniversary trip thinking there was no issue Check the case today, charges dismissed because of no prosecution witness' present. Fucking unbelievable. So this ruins our anniversary trip either way now because I'm pissed as shit about the whole situation.

Idk. Had Marquez made even one move for the lead I would have thought differently about the situation. He was much closer than he was on a lot of his half assed attempts on Rossi this year. I mean make a move and run wide and give it back and at least make it look like you are going to battle. The only time he did that was when Pedrosa snuck around him. If he wanted to support someone let your team mate go for the win. Lorenzo still wins the championship as long as Marquez is behind him. I won't take anything away from Lorenzo, but if you want the championship to go to the fastest guy then Marquez would have won it again. Gotta be there in every race and in all conditions. Lorenzo was pretty miserable in wet conditions this year blaming a fogged visor in one race and simply not managing in another then crashing in mixed conditions in a 3rd. He's fast but not as well rounded.
