  1. Ha, we specifically looked over the car and commented to each other how nice and cleanly modified it was...and on top of that how well kept the paint was.
  2. $100???... any less than that and I burn them for enjoyment.
  3. Ryan - looking good like always. Keep up the good work!!!
  4. I have an 07 GMC sierra (new body) with a 6.0l gas motor. It's a nice truck. Every bell and whistle possible other than sunroof and Denali chrome trim / wheels. It's not a bad place to spend some time and I enjoy driving it more than I could have ever imagined. However no way as a car guy I could live with owning a truck as my only vehicle. 2nd or 3rd car yes, only means of transportation I'd probably make it 3 months before I was completely over it.
  5. I kinda miss street racing...too much to lose these days to ever consider going back. I also miss Track Addicts.
  6. Food for thought on the factory recaro's. If like the factory recaro's that come in Porsche's there will always be a high demand for these seats, they will depreciate very little in the years to come, they will become rare and go up in value when they are no longer produced. The factory recaro's I have for my car were $2800 new when they were being produced. They also made an almost unlimited amount of them. Now that they are out of production decent used sets are going for $3200-3500 and they are only going to continue to go up in value and if I wanted to sell them they'd be sold in a matter of days.
  7. ha.... Hug it out? I've been talking about the only AWD Porsche worth owning....the turbo, but you are correct I had the vintage wrong.
  8. Don't mind me today....I'm just crabby BECAUSE OF ALL OF THE RAIN :-) p.s. I don't think we're talking about the same model of 911
  9. This just means it's slow and under-powered. My AWD car spins the tires in the wet.
  10. Doesn't last as long. much easier to use, subjectively looks a little better on dark / black cars. I'll preach again looks are subjective...and highly related to the amount of prep work done on the car.
  11. My personal preference based on protection / ease of use / looks for black is Blackfire Wet Diamond http://www.autogeek.net/blackfire-wet-diamond-sealant.html Remember though...the look is going to come mostly from the prep work not the final product on top.
  12. pretty sure it has aero covered Can never really tell from race videos what tire conditions are, etc. Their old car owns Mid Ohio track records in class with a low 1:26 Lap which is pretty darn fast. I'll agree the 1:30's in this video aren't really something to write home about...but you never know from a < 2:00 video
  13. I won't. Car manufacturers are following in the path of video game engineers in enabling a generation of no-talent ass clowns behind the wheel that have no idea how to properly manipulate a manual transmission. They're over complicating transmissions and creating expensive service items in the process. Yes the technology is better / faster than a good old fashioned manual when they are working properly and for the most part they are taking driver error out of damaging the boxes. That said, I personally know two people with new GT3's that have already required full transmission replacements and my student's GT3 a few weeks ago at Mid Ohio kept going into transmission limp mode on the track. I'll stick with 3 pedals myself...I think it's a sing that I'm getting old as I'm a part of a dying breed.
  14. You guys are clearly missing the story line here. Dale Jr. Won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you ain't first, you're last. You know, you know what I'm talking about?
  15. This just means whomever owned the car did a horrible job of taking care of the rest of the paint. For that matter clear bra has very little UV protection, if at all hence the paint can fade under the clear bra too. Simple polish fixes everything here and brings it back to one color which probably should have been maintained along the way anyhow.
  16. bump - never too early to prepare for winter. Price goes up in Sept.
  17. That the turbocharged "mustang" thing?
  18. Saw the call I've been non stop all day until just now. I'll give you a ring tomorrow afternoon to talk about it.
  19. I'm entertained by all of those who think dark navy blue (metallic or not) is going to be any easier to maintain and keep good looking over black. Dark paint is dark paint it will all show dirt almost immediately. Audi' clear is relatively hard, once you get it properly polished up and know how to properly maintain it the paint can be pretty easy to keep defect free and looking fantastic. My A4 was brilliant black, when It was my only nice car and garaged at night it looked fantastic almost all the time. Having owned a brilliant black car I'd absolutely do it again given the right car and situation. I don't like blue cars but opinions are like assholes... Tim you are going to love the car even if it was pink with purple spots, don't let any of our thoughts get in the way.
  20. Bob - I'll challenge you to change your mindset some. Why not spend $15-20k on a NICE truck that you would / could use for anything and everything instead of just something that's used in truck only situations? When I started looking I looked at quite a few CHEAP trucks for towing the track car around with. Everything from Diesel trucks with rubber mats on the interior to base F150 trucks that were a little nicer but barely. Ultimately I got a top trim GMC (SLT) and I couldn't be happier that I did. It's a vehicle that I actually use quite a bit more than I thought I would, yet in many respects it's still a truck. It's nice enough with full leather / touch screen / bose / heated seats / power everything that I can put personal or PROFESSIONAL people in it without a second thought. As I said via text the other day, I'm shocked at how much I'm enjoying truck ownership. I'm not saying any of these vehicles will replace the Lexus, but they would be a nice compliment to it instead of a beater that you spend money on and don't use that often.
  21. We have alot of people that buy poser cars and then turn around and want to learn how to drive them to their limits after the fact. Not exactly the weapon we'd like to see a green student in but given discipline, the right attitude to learn and more importantly the ability to listen those individuals can be molded into great drivers. You already have the weapon of choice in your impressive garage. Pull the Vette out, prep it, get a good instructor, drive with your head on your shoulders and you'll be just fine. I'm assuming you are near Road America which is a major HP track and would be a hoot to drive in your car.
  22. ...or you could just pick up a proper rear drive track car
