Music is supposed to tell a story and take you for a ride. This is a great example of going along for the ride.

Drag slicks or road race? Road race Hoosiers (r6 or a6) are generally only good for the first 10-12 heat cycles and then fall off in grip so badly they are removed and generally just discarded because of lack of value.

Everyone hates the 996 headlights. It's almost entertaining.

This was a good call. Absolutely my old car, still sitting there this morning with tow warning stickers all over it. -
Andrew..I enjoy your good humor and the fun banter back and forth...i fear we've derailed this thread though. Danny in your car vs. my car would be an interesting match...dude could set lap records in a radio flyer wagon!!! My car is an '04 GT3 To clarify - the only reason I mention water cooled GT cars in reference to the raising values of the air cooled cars, they are the only water cooled choice that is going up not down in values. Honestly his best bet at a "good" car in his price range is a 996 but it won't have values like the air cooled stuff. Though I agree you put a renegade kit in an air cooled car and it's not doing anything for value either.

I too passed it on the road a couple weeks ago. -
Tops of the towers are in place...the roll bar is a proper rear cage and triangulates on the towers and kept them in place. The rest of the car folded around them though. Ohlins actually came away with relatively little damage

My 380 hp overrated 911 vs your 405 hp vette in a contest for best lap time at mid ohio???

Cars are never a good investment but good cars in the years you are looking at are all only going up in value. If it were me I'd find the best deal I could find on an SC or 964, keep it close to stock and make it as nice as possible and you will never lose money on it, might even make money on it. To be clear this is not true on post 993 cars unless they have a GT badge on them.

Chris...are you reading this on vacation? Is there news you want to share about the next Janky?

Chris. Let me start by commending you for thinking like an engineer. I know your background work and what you've built and engineered and it's extremely impressive. However, it seems like you fall in the camp of people that feel like because their European car was expensive it should be completely over-engineered, without problems and should never break. Sadly car companies are car companies and will do everything to maximize profits, which sometimes means making poor decisions to save a penny here and there. This isn't unique to Porsche, or the European car makers but it seems as you're trying to hold them to a higher standard. Porsche isn't the most profitable auto maker in the world because they refuse to compromise on every engineering decision. Casey's 4 year old Camaro with 22k miles has oil pump failure and your well aware of this issue commenting "not a well thought out design". The plastic coolant pipes on your 8+ year Cayenne break and it's "the biggest pile of shit". The bearings on your 2 piece drive shaft (Cardan shaft) are going to go out on the Cayenne soon if they haven't already....but then again that'll happen to Casey's Camaro too... I see LOTS of LSx motors blow up at track days for various reasons that I'm sure many of you are familiar with, I just don't know the platform that well. What I do know is I have 12-13 thousand track miles on my 11 year old GT3 and it never misses a beat other than that time it dumped coolant all over the place The Mezger pressed cooalnt fittings are a thorn in the side of everyone who owns them. But again not something that should have been a surprise. I fixed mine myself a few years ago and despite being alot of my own personal time I think I spent $350 on the whole project. There was an article on Jalopnik recently that relates here and puts a fresh spin on this topic. Basically, as enthusiasts who want to know everything about the cars we drive, we also identify and document all of the issues with those platforms as well. As an entusiast it's for the best because you can help identify issue that need to be proactively fixed instead of waiting for them to break. You think that 230k mile Intrepid you use an an example got there without breaking anything? Doubt it...but I also doubt that there's an Intrepid forum where anyone can document the issues with the platform, show you how to fix them yourself, or complain about them in the open. So nobody knows how many thousands of dollars it takes to get an Intrepid to 230k because nobody is passionate about the car. http://jalopnik.com/how-the-hell-are-porsches-so-reliable-1709270257

Why is the ride height so high in the front. ?

seriously...not even a teaser pic?

ohhh...the temptation to build another shit stomping S-10 is strong with me lately. Long bed isn't what I prefer though More specs on motor please. 4 bolt or 2 bolt block? pistons and compression ratio? heads? Is there any rot in the cab corners? What radiator setup is that? does it stay cool in traffic?

Wouldn't be as fun to swap cars if they were both the same. Now if you want to get a GT3 RS I won't object.

This is a valid point. If you buy a vehicle as an investment and continue to use it it's a really risky venture. If you bought it because it's what you want and it turned out to be an investment then enjoy the shit out of it and and if it still happens to make you money in the end then great added benefit. My Gt3 is that way, I never Intended for it to be an investment as such I use the shit out of it as I please. The problem for me is the next car I want is doing the same things value wise putting it even further out of reach even though my current ride would make me money. Sometimes I wish it would have depreciated like any other car so I did t feel so bad about tracking it. As for the OP. If you bought the car as an investment and it's grown as desired and you have someone offering you cash then cash out of your investment and roll into the next one.

Couple of more tweaks and maybe 30 more HP and the FD will lap as quickly as the GT3 or anything out there for that matter, be unique doing it and always draw a crowd for shooting flames!!!
