Tell me more about what to look for in a focus?
-
We got her a 1.8T Jetta before and the damn thing ate a coil pack and she thought it was blown up and had no money to fix it so refused to take it to a shop so it just sat. Our next visit it took me 2 minutes to diagnose and $40 to fix it and it was back on the road. Maybe if I could find her a 2.0L but even then VW / Audi does such a crap job with automatic transmissions that they are always a question mark unless regularly cared for....which she just won't do. I do realize that everything requires regular maintenance but I'm looking for that maintenance to be as simplified as possible. Timing belts and coil packs for VW's might be a minor deal and regular maintenance to us but it's a major setback for her.

Reasonable, economical and practical cars aren't really my thing. What's the best way to spend $4k on something that's decent. Need to find something for my mother-in-law in FL. She's got about 4k to spend but her idea of buying a car is taking the bus to the nearest buy here pay here shop and walking out with a pile of crap that runs for a couple of months and then gives up the ghost. We bought her a car a couple of years ago that she had for 1.5 years down there and didn't take care of so I took it back because it was my money/ car and she wasn't maintaining it. This time around it's on her dime but I'd prefer to find her something that'll somewhat last when driven by someone who won't take care of it. Suggestions? Buddy of mine just bout an older Grand Marquis that's actually not a bad ride. Not exactly economical but at least she'd be safe in something like that.

Sad to see it go for sure. Won't set in until I walk out the door tomorrow and it's not sitting there. Served me well though and hopefully gets the love it deserves.

I specifically waited until now to post my Audi on Craigslist knowing this was prime time for me to get the most cash for it.

Ported subwoofer box for 10" sub. 1.0 cubic ft of volume. Ran a JL 10w0 v.2 in there and it sounded fantastic. $25 http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q192/ZainoDetail/25D9325E-98DE-426A-81ED-0E0B0972A071_zpsfhw79rsx.jpg

So I was going to post that my wife and I have pretty much been over Valentines gifts for years. We are going to Eddie Merlot for dinner but she generally doesn't require anything further these days and neither do I. I happen to notice this morning she just purchased a set of $800 brake pads...I'm guessing those aren't for "her". ...off to go find something nice for her

One thing to be aware of is while I don't think Auto-x is there yet, more and more car groups are cracking down and not allowing motorcycle helmets at car events.

19s have some life left. Probably another 10k miles or so. They have a lot of tread left but there's camber wear from being lowered. I throw a can of freon at it at the beginning of every summer and it's good to go

I needed a tow vehicle. It makes a nice fit for me. I too wish it was 2wd so that I could drop it to the ground but it's a nice truck and will work out fine for me.

Mods - I'm keeping this you can lock it up.

Car Audio Guys: 6.5 Component suggestions needed
AudiOn19s replied to AudiOn19s's topic in Passing Lane
so my research wasn't too shabby afterall? Question. all of these component sets come with a crossover. Supposedly the factory amp has the crossover function built in. Will these sets still sound OK using the factory crossover instead of the one supplied with the speakers? -
'08 GMC 1500 Sierra - Crew Cab - Factory Bose system Factory Bose system is OK but I'd like it to be better than OK. Actually at low volume the performance is decent but it's pretty typical "All Low's...must be Bose" when playing at increased volume. Middle gets muddled and top disappears. The rest of the system aside, I'd like to hear some suggestions for 6.5 components (1" tweeter) for the front door / a-pillar location of the truck. Catch is...for some reason the factory Bose system uses 2ohm 6.5's. I've found a million decent 4ohm sets but there's not a ton to choose from in 2ohm offerings, certainly not a ton at local sources I can go listen to and evaluate for myself. Don't want to break the bank with Focal K2's...Don't want junk. Not changing out the factory head unit or factory Bose Amps. Want improved but not complicated Based on limited research the leading candidates are: - Image Dynamics CXS62 - RE Audio XXX6.5C Little concerned the factory 75-100w output on the bose amp won't be enough for them despite being 2 ohm candidates.

watched it several times. There are a few hints in there. 1) it's rated at 385 HP and stated to be detuned...but is it really??? 2) It's a stretch but he hints at a possible manual transmission GT3 RS too. 7:40 is about right. 3.8 with more advanced variocam than my antiquated 11 year old car will have better torque than my car. 996 RS has lapped in the ring in 7:43 with 380hp. 997.1 GT3 is 7:40 flat with 415hp. Depending on variables on the 3.8 it could be 400-430hp and just advertised as less.

nope...Love my GT3. Despite the power downgrade I'd consider a GT4 in place of the Turbo though. Doubt my wife will agree with my logic of it being a more "pure" sports car experience.
