  1. Great story. Apples and oranges, but great story. How much HP could a Corvette reliably produce if it used an air cooled motor? 200? 250? Would you call that Hi tech? One of the limiting factors of push rods is RPMs. Not such a big deal on a car, because cars have a lot more flexibility with weight and displacement. The HD 103ci produces a whopping 65 hp. http://www.hdforums.com/forum/touring-models/827903-what-is-this-factory-hp-on-103-a.html A hi tech 600cc super sport displaces about 36ci and make significantly more hp...reliably.
  2. There is certainly some tech, like FI...finally. However the engine architecture is certainly low tech. An air cooled, pushrod twin is about the lowest tech motor you can find on a street bike. It's straight out of 1965. The manufacturing process and quality control use current tech, but the product largely does not.
  3. I am a rider, not a motorcycle enthusiast. Harleys just never made my manly bits tingle.
  4. You should aim some of your commend-ing at the EPA. HD would be happy making air cooled motorcycles forever, but the EPA is gradually making that more difficult. Air cooled heads aren't exactly "current" technology. I doubt that there will be anything air cooled left in HD's line up 10 years from now.
  5. Some recreational drugs are just fine in moderation. OTOH, I've seen too many lives (of good people) destroyed by Heroin...for many moderation is not possible.
  6. I never been too high. Come to think of it I don't think I've ever been too drunk. Wait...I get too drunk all the time.
  7. Can I put my trailer on a trailer?

  9. I'll leave my bikes as is, but I am currently researching political, religious, and law enforcement topics so I have something to complain about over the winter.
  10. Anyone know why many bike speedos are so inaccurate? It has to be intentional, but why? The worst I've had was off by 10%. My VFR otoh is spot on.
  11. I'll be hosting Chili cook off.

  13. BMW reliability has scared me aware from several bikes that I wanted to buy. The major components seem to last (mostly), but there are plenty of stories about expensive repairs on BMW forums. I really like dynamic suspension on some of the new ones. I just don't trust it enough to last.

You could ask people what it's like to have a competent front office and a coaching staff that can develop young talent.
  15. There is an older rider with a 300k+ FJR that rides around southern OH.
  16. Are you going to get rid of the 675? It seems to suit you.
  17. Actually, religion had very little to do with Nazi hatred of Jews. Many in Germany felt the economic troubles prior to WW2 could largely be blamed on Jews in the banking industry. That was part of it. But the biggest reason that Hitler and Nazis hated Jews was sheer racism. Hitler viewed Jews and an inferior race that would pollute the Aryan race. Hitler's desire to remove Jews from the gene pool is what caused the Holocaust. I get your point though. People have been killed because of religious differences throughout history. The crusades for example.
  18. Very true. If we had the ability to coexist it would have already happened long ago.
  19. I am not exactly following your logic. I would most accurately be described as an Atheist & I can tell you I am quite comfortable in that decision. But I do find religion(s) and they ways they grew into prevalence to be fascinating.
  20. I absolutely believe this. No offense meant, but this is ultimately the reason I am no longer a Christian. I don't believe it all. To call myself a Christian would make me a hypocrite. I'm sure this will be an unpopular opinion, but that's never stopped me before... You can't be Christian and also think there is nothing wrong with homosexuality. I don't care which you are, but you can't be both. The Bible is quite clear on the subject: http://www.openbible.info/topics/homosexuality Lately, I've seen much energy and mental gymnastics in articles where the author tries to re-interpret these verses to mean something different for those who'd prefer to walk both side of the fence. It's an act of futility. For example: https://www.gaychristian.net/justins_view.php
