  1. I've never seen any smoke at startup or any other time. At WOT I'm looking ahead, so I wouldn't see it if there were any. Yesterday, I rode about 500 miles with many WOTs and lots of time at high rpm. Gotta push this thing pretty hard to ride with bad influences like UP & DPG I lost about 6 oz over the course of the day. Starting the day I had about 2k on the oil. I ususally change between 3-3.5k. Edit: More info Inside of the exhaust is not sooty at all. It's a nice brownish color like I would expect. Valve check isn't due until 14.5k
  2. ...so, in the last 1,000 miles or so my Gladius (basically an SV650 motor) has started noticeably consuming oil. It has about 9K on the odo. It always burned a little oil, but more lately. I run it pretty hard to squeeze out all 70 HPs. It runs A1, absolutely no leaks of any kind, and I've never noticed any smoke. Couple questions. It has less power than most other bikes I've had. To ride a quick pace I run it hard, near redline quite a bit, sometimes for long stretches of twisties. Would high RPM riding be causing oil consumption? The manual calls for 10w40. I've been running Mobil 1 Full Syn 0w40, which should be better for cold starts and the same when warm/hot. I doubt this is the cause but worth mentioning. What would be likely causes of consuming oil. Any easy checks besides a compression test? Any SV owners have any issue with oil consumption on street or track?
  3. On a lighter note. This was a really good ride. UP, Dave (core), and I hauled much ass for many miles. 78 east of 83 now has good pavement and was fun. 376 north of McConnelsville is worth avoiding though. There were a couple blind hills that dump you right into unmarked turns. We were taking it easy, but a faster pace.on that road good have.had bad results.
  4. We were right there and got diverted around the accident. The detour was 20 minutes @ 10mph of street tires on shitty loose gravel and trying not to crash. ...so it sounds like that accident was a bad one
  5. And you ran out of gas on that one.
  6. Why was Plaxico Burress at the movies by himself?
  7. That stretch of 93 is pretty good. What times/roads were you thinking in the OP?
  8. 377 South of McConnelsvilles is good, but I've never ridden it going north. I haven't ridden 376 north of McConellsville in years, but think it was ok. What about 255? This is the route we did last week: 83>78>377>550>7>26>260>7>800>78>7>556>145>148>800>>US77 This is really good except for the slab home. Since I moved, I haven't found a route I like from 800 back to Lorain County, but I want to give this a shot: 800>342>258>36 to either 93N or 83N.
  9. I'd like to leave a bit earlier. UP, if you're leading I'm good with your route. If I lead, I posted the route we did last week on CORE. Either way I'm planning to cover some miles on Saturday.
  10. Go to Bolivar, then take 93 to Otsego where 83 & 93 intersect. It takes 40 minutes to get from Millersburg to Otsego on 83 (at a sportbike pace).
  11. 255 is closed. at least there are road closed signs. not sure if it's passable on 2 wheels.
  12. Jbot. Lately we've been meeting in Millersburg with a second meet spot in Otsego 83/93 to make it easier for those from the Far East.
  13. AA is good. You can bring tvs , appliances, and other random crap to shoot.

  15. I'm a street whore not a track whore.
  16. Maybe. Any particular roads you want to include? I could lead if you don't mind following a girls bike. I saw the CSBA ride, but haven't looked at the logistics of getting there from NEO. Tags: boobs hopefully, ride, squid, tentacles, twisties
  17. Mass quantities of cheese, but some really good info on counter steering and throttle control. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWH_QiXw5n4&feature=related
  18. I am really digging the Gladius as an all around bike. The 650 motor is fantastic for street duty. It's a great commuter, comfortable enough for trips, has hardbags, and with suspension mods it handles as well as some sport bikes.
  19. HD Fatboy does everything. It's shiny and you can stand right next to it at bike night.
  20. I know a few riders that have owned these. a capable carver and a unique ride with a cult following.
  21. Tomahawks are highly tactical for close combat. I've spoken to some ex military poeple about some lightweight carbon fiber versions before.
