  1. We've got the browns.  Football is some boring, depressing shit. Haven't watched a game in a few years. Haven't seen any of the motorcycle elite take a knee on the podium when they play their national anthems, although the USA is now not represented since Nicky got taken.

It seems that most, if not all of the NFL kneelers are protesting inequalities in the justice system & law enforcement & have no qualms with those that put their lives at risk in the military. Their right to protest in the manner they do is one of the strong points of our constitution. Hope that doesn't fade away like the browns.

Of course, you definitely have the constitutional right to vote against the kneelers by not watching the NFL (like I don't).

Flag flown every day at the house here.

  2. You'll need more than a couple hours to get to fun roads & back.  A good "short" route is 83 S (to Coshocton), 541W, 79N, 36E (short jog), 715W, 206N, 62E, 83N.  A shorter route, but hardly worth it is 83S, 62W (just south of Millersburg), 520W then find your way home.  83 starts to get some sweepers just south of Wooster, but that's 40 miles or so South.  The best roads are all south of I70 and east of I77.  West of I77 but still south of I70 are 78, 377, 676 which are pretty nice. Our usual "meet spot" for rides is a 2 hour ride each way for me & I'm not that far from you. If you live in North Ridgeville & don't want to venture too far from home, ride West River Road to Valley City & back.

So, I am hooked and it is decision time. Rider coach took me aside yesterday and said 'Don't push that bike any more, you are pushing the suspension as far as you can. The rear is working too hard, I can see it when I follow you' This was after he watched me slide it sideways through 8. I rolled on too soon and too hard. Now, as I get better and smoother I might be able to squeeze a bit more out of it but he is right, few more track days and I will be going as quick as I can on this bike.

I should also add, my street riding of a sport/sporty bike is going to be very limited. Even the FZ6 is killing my body, specifically my neck from having it angled up like you have to. I injured it pretty good when I was young, arthritis is setting in. I have no problems at the track with it, 20 minutes on and 40 off more or less and it can handle that, zero pain.  But a whole day on the street is killing me. So as we ponder this, street riding is of little to no concern.

Option 1.  Convert the FZ6. Rear set. clip ons, really good rear shock is available and decent front forks for about a grand. So I would have 3800 total in the bike and upgrades. (Not counting trailer, lap timer, gopro, gps, tire warmers, generator and an umbrella babe as those costs will come with any bike).

I figure in the spring I can flip the FZ6 for 3K.

Option 2.  Flip the FZ6 and grab a 600 SS in the 4K range.

Option 3. Flip the FZ6 and grab a liter bike in the 4k range.

Lets debate the three options as they are, then we can start a 'which best bike for option 2 or 3' later. I am pretty sure what I am going to do, but am curious what the masses here think.

Get a 300.  You will be totally safe from the rear end sliding problem & can work on breaking the front loose & bringing it back up with the knee pressure.

  4. I've done 650 miles in a day on a CBR1000RR & the problem didn't have to do with anything above the waist. If you are putting weight on the bars you are doing it all wrong.  Problem with the race replicas for me at least,is the severely bent leg position.  Then again, I'm a 6'1"  codger.  Fairly comfortable on last Sunday's 435 miler on my Ninja 1000 although I did scrape the pegs a few times. (Tradeoff= leg comfort vs. cornering clearance)  Just make the wise decision & you will be happy.
