  1. People don't pull out of broken pelvis?

    :dunno: Found this though.

The pelvis is a ring-like structure of bones at the lower end of the trunk. The two sides of the pelvis are actually three bones (ilium, ischium, and pubis) that grow together as people age. Strong connective tissues (ligaments) join the pelvis to the large triangular bone (sacrum) at the base of the spine. This creates a bowl-like cavity below the rib cage. On each side, there is a hollow cup (acetabulum) that serves as the socket for the hip joint.

Many digestive and reproductive organs are located within the pelvic ring. Large nerves and blood vessels that go to the legs pass through it. The pelvis serves as an attachment point for muscles that reach down into the legs and up into the trunk of the body. With all of these vital structures running through the pelvis, a pelvic fracture can be associated with substantial bleeding, nerve injury, and internal organ damage...

Stable pelvic fractures heal well. Pelvic fractures sustained during a high-energy incident, such as an automobile accident, may have significant complications, including severe bleeding, internal organ damage, and infection. However, these are due more to the associated injuries than to the fracture.

If these injuries are addressed, the fracture usually heals well. People may walk with a limp for several months because of damage to the muscles around the pelvis. Thse muscles take a long time to become strong again. Subsequent problems, such as pain, impaired mobility, and sexual dysfunction, are usually the result of damage to nerves and organs that is associated with the pelvic fracture.

  2. http://www2.nbc4i.com/news/2010/jul/06/11/charges-will-not-be-brought-against-dairy-farm-own-ar-135541/

UNION COUNTY, Ohio – A grand jury decides charges will not be brought against the owner of a Central Ohio dairy farm where an employee was fired after the release of an undercover videotape depicting animal abuse.

It's a story NBC 4 has been following since Tuesday, May 25, when the video was released to the media.

A Union County Grand Jury on Tuesday cleared Gary Conklin, owner of Conklin Dairy Cattle Sales LLC based near Plain City, and other people of allegations of animal abuse.

The grand jury found no probable cause to believe Conklin committed any crime.

  3. It's "you and me"' date=' btw.

I'm in a very small minority regarding my opinions on gun control. I don't believe there should be any exception to the rules. Everyone that is deemed competent to live among civil society should not be restricted concerning firearms. A gun is no more dangerous than a car, motorcycle, kitchen knife, bully pulpit in a Baptist church...etc. The tool does not create the killer, psycho, nutjob... whatever. If a person is found to be "reasonably" incapable of being responsible enough to own a gun without randomly shooting folks then what is that person doing in civilization to begin with?[/quote']

Yes, yes. "You and me" "by the way"...

    I do agree with you.

  4. Just a little point-- mental sanity certainly doesn't remove their right to self-defense or self-preservation, but I think we could make an argument that giving firearms to seriously-stark-staring-pure-bugfuck-paranoid-crazies only increases the danger to them and anyone within range. That, to me, is a case in which there is certainly a need for some kind of government interference.

And probably the same for convicted violent criminals, too. Self preservation, sure; a rifle, maybe not.

But those are about the only restrictions on ownership of most small arms I could really support.

These are the federal restrictions set forth:

The following groups of people are ineligible to own firearms under the Gun Control Act of 1968 [1].

Those convicted of felonies and certain misdemeanors

    Fugitives from justice

Unlawful users of certain depressant, narcotic, or stimulant drugs

Those adjudicated as mental defectives or incompetents or those committed to any mental institution and currently containing a dangerous mental illness.

    Illegal Aliens

Those who have renounced U.S. citizenship

Those persons dishonorably discharged from the Armed Forces

Minors defined as under the age of eighteen for long guns and handguns, with the exception of Vermont, eligible at age sixteen.

Persons subject to a restraining order

Persons convicted in any court of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence (an addition)

Persons under indictment for a crime punishable by imprisonment for more than one year are ineligible to receive, transport, or ship any firearm or ammunition

You are innocent until proven [mentally incompetent or a felon].

  5. shine this into an aircraft cock pit and it is considered a terrorist act and your ass is going to federal prison. I have had friends almost go blind from these stupid things.

Yeah there was guy that was arrested for doing that right near Pataskala. To top it off he was on leave from the Middle east and was a pilot or something like that.

Why would I want to make other people go blind? I'm too busy slowly making myself go blind.

    Damn internet prOn.

  6. Actually, this is one of the few politically-related threads I've seen where damned near the entire spectrum was represented and it basically stayed good-natured. Quick, somebody troll it!

Yeah, I noticed that as well. I don't think I ever ever seen such long, precise, well mannered argumentative posts before. Are we still on ORDN?
