  1. This! I think "stamping" your service record book is a BMW thing. Right Pauly? BUT the oil used has to meet the manufacturer's specifications, such as GM now uses DexOS oil, in no less than 3 varieties (of which only one seems to be available?) Same for coolant and transmission fluids, for most manufacturer's and I'm sure all bike manufacturer's have minimum specs that fluids and filters have to meet.

  3. That's Utica for you!
  4. My stepmom's mother had some money to blow after selling her house and moving into a condo and she paid for the house, we all chipped in $10 a day per person for food and took turns cooking. It worked out really well! We did go mid season, so it was a LOT cheaper.
  5. Bump for a good cause! I see that Carie is riding, too! How awesome!
  6. If ReconRat is griping about the rain, you know it's getting bad!
  7. For Topsail, we (step grandmother) rented from Treasure Realty: http://www.treasurerealty.com/ OT Here's the link to the place where we stayed: http://www.treasurerealty.com/vrmgr/rental/detailpage.aspx?propertyid=492&webcode=7plusssfh We were there "mid-season" We want to get back down there in the next year or 2, and mid-season with a few other families would be best way to afford it. /OT
  8. ^^^This. We were down there in September of 2008. We were on the north end of Topsail, but not in the part they call North Topsail. Just over the bridge from Sneads Ferry. Jacksonville isn't too far away for dining, shopping, etc... That was a very relaxing week, wander out to the beach as we wanted, etc...
  9. You need to quit letting WORK get in the way of working on Ohioriders.net!
  10. I noticed the hover preview working! Nice! Even better than with vBulletin! I like that we get the first post, first unread and the last post! I'm starting to hate IPboard less now.
  11. I have spent more time figuring out what goes where than someone "saved" me by tearing it down before! Most automotive technicians get paid flat rate which mean we get paid what the labor guide says the job should pay, not by the hour, so every minute lost is money down the drain to us! Now, what the OP has torn down should not be an issue, since that is probably common for a shop (especially a dealer) to have to do the same stuff to get the plugs out, etc... Sometimes, those of us that do it for a living know easier ways to take something apart that might not be very obvious by looking at it, too! I'm not saying that the OP should put it back together, or that I would be pissed if it came into my stall, just stating some opinion!
  12. YES I CAN! That's one thing I always hate! If I take it apart, I see what bolt came from where, and the same bolt (at least size and length) gets put back in that spot. I have had those come in to me as well, and typically it is helpful, but still not the same as tearing it down myself!
  13. I'll second the what kind of car question. The OP says that he DID remove the spark plugs. Will it turn over backwards (by hand?) I have seen the bent rod situation before. Guy had a Celica, cold air intake, big mud puddle, water in cylinder, hydro-lock causing rod to bend.
  14. Hey now... Pasta is VALUABLE! Ask the resident midget...
  15. So YOU'RE one of THOSE... I have said many bad things about automotive engineers over the years. "Have you ever had to work on what you've built?" is one of the big ones that we repair technicians throw around OFTEN... /rant Back OT... So this isn't a design position, but taking a design and making it work?
  16. At least we still have rep! Why isn't the plus1 smiley working, ghostman?
  17. I had to give you a :plus1: rep for that, since somebody gave you neg rep!
  18. Wow man! Nice bike! I've always liked the Z1000's but I this thing is pretty awesome! One of these days I might suck it up and take on a payment to get one...
  19. Must have been a 4L60E. The 6 speeds are pretty solid. Are you sure that MPV was Ford built? Having worked on a few of them, I'm pretty sure they were not.
  20. I'm not feeling the Cadillac "quality" being improved lately. The rest of GM is doing pretty well on quality, and they are VERY proactive on taking care of design/build issues as they find them. The new Impala is pretty sweet from what I've seen of it. We have a couple in stock! (I doubt they would be up for lease though.) Maybe a 2013 Impala? They're pretty solid cars, built on a mature platform.
  21. Don't say that! Knocking out interwebz to Casper's house may have a negative impact upon Ohioriders.net.
