  1. That explains why the old guys didn't get his truck done, then....
  2. Nah, he'd still be there. Not everyone gets the priveldge of being around this much greatness all the time. I'm sure he was going through withdraw yesterday, since I took the day off....
  3. Yeah, I figured you were just being yourself (an ass ) The GM parts thing is a MUCH better comparison. Although, when I built my Camaro engine, I used almost all GM parts, with the exception of the bearings, gaskets, and intake manifold!) right down to the oil filter! If I had it to do again, I know I could make quite a bit more power for less, but that's another story. If it makes you feel any better, the 2 zoom lenses that I use all the time are Sigma's. I can't afford Canon L glass.
  4. The 93 - 95 (I think that's all the older) blazers had some interesting issues with the CPI fuel injection system. GM should have left that one out of production.
  5. 96 and up is what to look for, but they still have problmes. Pretty much all that I've listed apply to them. Don't let the stuff that I've mentioned prevent you from buying, but do keep in mind that these things need to be looked at first, and that they might fail down the road. I've seen some that have had ALL the problems I've mentioned, and more, and I've seen some that have had very few of the problems. A little maintenance goes a LONG way!
  6. are you talking about? Totally off in left field for the topic at hand. More relevant would be putting chinese made brake pads on your VW, pads from a manufacturer that may not even be known to VW, and not be up to their safety specs. Again, if I still had my Rebel, I might risk it, but the 40D is a bit too much to replace if somethin would go wrong.
  7. The trucks have the same problems. We just don't see as many at our shop. One thing the trucks have going for them is the reduced weight in the back.
  8. I'm still not going to go that route. I'm sure that a company like Sigma would work with Canon to make sure that their flash will work, and probably pay the proper licensing fees to be able to legally say that their flash is for Canon. Unless I was to use a pocket wizark to trigger it, or something.....
  9. I was thinking about a 430 as well. I'm NOT going to buy a cheap-o Chinese knock off. I MIGHT get a Sigma Super though. I just don't trust the cheap-o's to not damage my camera, and replacing a 40D is a bit more than replacing one of the Rebel series cameras. One nice thing about using Canon branded flashes is running multiples is pretty simple.
  10. Ya know, I haven't done many wheel bearings on them. I've done a shit-ton on front wheel drive GM's, and full-sized trucks though. I've never heard of the diff vent problem! Interesting indeed!
  11. And the $20k top payout was crazy big, back then! Cool stuf, even if it's not worth much!
  12. Head gaskets? Not on 4.3's. I can only think of maybe 2 or 3 cases in the 10 years I've been a technician at a shop. The 2.2, now that's another story, but I don't think you could get 4wd with the 2.2. The INTAKE gaskets go left and right on the 4.3, especially with the factory fill dex-cool. I recommend Peak's Global coolant. I run it in everything of my own. Ball joints, pitman arm, and idler arm routinely fail. You also have to consider the GM fuel pump plague. Don't run it low on fuel, and that will help. I've also noticed some of the transmissions with a broken sun gear shell, which causes a loss of reverse, second and fourth gears. Funny thing is that I rarely see the same thing on trucks with a v8 and the same transmission. The oil cooler lines develop leaks where the rubber lines are crimped to the aluminum ends, and CAN cause serious engine failure if not attended to. Really, there's not that much that goes wrong, I just highlighted a few things that I've seen a few times. With all that said, I DO like them. It's not often that they get towed in, unless the owner totally neglects them, and does NO maintenance.

    Demonoid

Need a demonoid reg? I just noticed that registrations are open! Get em while you can! If they close, PM me for an invite.
  14. I bought my real double bubble from ebay! I got it from zero gravity outlet. I DOmake sure the stuff is coming from within the US.
  15. I've bought quite a few used parts for both bike on ebay, mainly because I can't find much at all for the interceptor, and for the ninja, $10 is better than $100 when the stuff's in perfect condition. It's only a 250 after all.
  16. out to cheech.. What was I thinking? I should have at least gone to the end of the road and back! Geesh! I did get the Ninja started, the Hon-duh has the front cylinder head off it right now.
  17. Drink, or go to the malls. There is quite a bit of local music playing most of the time, also.
  18. Not a good idea, since YOU started on one as well. For the record, the 250 has been claimed by the OTHER jporter.... So, yeah, it pretty much is a girl's bike, but I still ride it once in a while.
  19. The Japanese are losing the credibility in the quality dept with me....
  20. Very nice find! There are some things that I think look hideous, such as the front signals/mirror pods, but I like the idea all the same, just not the implementation. What is it with the mid 80's and some of the sportbikes? It seems that quite a few of them were a bit ahead of their time! This one and my Interceptor come to mind. The power / CC ratio of my 500 is STILL excellent, they just had some issues with top-end oiling.
