  1. Just a note on torque wrench accuracy, they don't amintain their accuracy through the whole range, they aren't as accurate in the lower ranges (I think it is), so you want to get something that will put you more in the middle of the range. An inch-pound torque wrench is the way to go for the range you mentioned. I need to pick up one myself, since mine broke a while back. I bought a S-K that goes from 25-250 inch-pounds. Not sure what I'll get now. For bigger stuff, I have a snap-on clicker. That's a NICE torque wrench!

One other thing to keep in mind, more important than accuracy most of the time is consistancy, having all the bolts tightened evenly. You do need to have them close to the right torque though...

  2. btw, first bank of RAM can cause crash on boot. Second bank of RAM can cause crash later while running. You might scan your RAM memory. (Or at least reseat the memory modules. Download and make a floppy:

    Windows Memory Diagnostic

    :wtf: Who you callin floppy?

What is a floppy disk? I haven't used on in a while. Last time I needed one was to install a RAID driver with Windows Home Server (Server 2k3 based) and I had to take it from another box to do that!

  3. To test RAM, I use Memtest86+ (or something like that, I'm too lazy to look it up and link it.)

For Antivirus, I've been using NOD32 for a couple years, and it has been AWESOME! Daily updates, email protection, MS office protection, daily updates. Pretty much JUST what you need, but not more than you need. It doesn't hog up a bunch of resources that slows the computer down (like Norton does?) It's been one of the highest rated with low overhead for a while now. NO AV program will catch it all, you really need to run one all the time, and regularly run a manual scan with others, even the free ones are great for this!

    Good luck!

  4. Used to jog before I got a metric fuckton of titanium installed in the leg and pelvis, I tried once a few months ago and it wasn't pretty. Looks like the elliptical machine's gonna be my cardio for the foreseeable future.

Wow! Let's kill him for the scrap titanium!

    That just sounds painful!

I haven't started yet, this cold weather crap has me, uh.... less than motivated. Methinks I need a treadmill....

  5. They already have the power to pull me over for giving it the beans down an on ramp, charge me with street racing, and then take my bike? That's news to me. I could have sworn the whole point of this law was to redefine street racing; what's the point of doing so if they already can?

If this passes and someone here gets their bike taken because of that douchebag OHP officer that camps out on 71 and targets bikes, my first question will be "did you try to do anything about the new law?" If they say no, I'll have zero sympathy.

    Woah, woah, woah.... Easy now!

I was just sayin, that some of them can't be trusted with the power they have NOW, let alone if something like this comes about. Some people, when given power, will abuse it any way they feel like. THAT's what I was saying. Geesh....

  6. In those states, the cops are used to the laws and the wording. Here, it would be a 'new' thing and you can be damned sure that the cops will be chomping at the bit to make examples of people and quite frankly, there are a -lot- of CPD and OHP officers out there that I wouldn't trust at all with the added power they already have.

There ya go, all fixed up.... Just sayin'...

  7. Another modified letter.........

    Dear Senator,

There is a bill that just passed the House that I am concerned about (H. B. No. 191)"Street Racing". I do not condone any kind of street racing and I understand that recently someone was killed as a result of street racing. However I do not think we should have a knee jerk reaction with an all-encompassing piece of legislation like this.

Street racing is already illegal so my concern is about the details of this bill. It expands the definitions of street racing so far and sets the punishment so harshly that I fear it could impact normally passive drivers who find themselves in difficult traffic conditions. It may impact the antique and classic car shows that bring much needed business to our state. It also leaves too much interpretation of "what" is street racing with the officer. (It includes single vehicle excel and braking provisions) I would like to think that before someone’s vehicle can be taken from them, that more have to happen than an officer implying that I was excelling too hard or braking too hard. Ohio already has a reputation as being heavy handed on motorists. This bill is a club in those hands.

I am asking you to vote against this bill Sir. It just needlessly expands the definition and punishment for an act that is already illegal.

    Thank you for your time.

You MIGHT want to fix a couple minor things, like excel? It's accel, and accelling. (sorry to be the spelling/grammar police, just thought it might help, seeing where it's going!)

  8. What the fuck Chuck? The site was down for a few minutes! Had me worried!

What I got was a 400 type error looking page, with the vbulletin logo on it saying database error. Was there a link for details that I should be aware of, in case it happens in the future, to send you debug info?

Thanks for all the hard work you put into the site, man. It's helping me waste my life away on a daily basis!

  9. Yea, you pay money to some company to 'audit' your paperwork and give you that piece of worthless 8.5" x 11" paper.

You just have to document your processes, even if they're shit processes, if you've got documentation - pay money, get ISO cert. The only reason a lot of companies we work with have ISO is because our supply base makes it a requirement to do business, which makes no sense because I've been on tons of non-ISO supplier visits that I would wholeheartedly award business too over shitty ISO certified businesses. But, buyers don't listen to the engineers because they're in it for low cost and then I get stuck fixing all the issues later on... support costs are never figured into the purchase costs.

Ok, last mention in this thread about ISO. At least the company I worked for was seriously trying to do it all right. 6 sigma, 5S, kanban, kaizen, all the buzzwords you can come up with, they were using. Most of the stuff was good, and efficiencies were definitely improving. All of it helps prove that the money was being spent wrong (extorted? greedy bastard). It was all sold off after bankruptcy, then moved to Mexico. Thanks for NAFTA!

  10. welcome!

skip coshocton roads the locals are assholes.

    Fixed

There are several good places down here in central and southern Ohio that are fun to ride, many that I haven't been to yet! Can't wait until next year when I can ride more!

  11. I ask because I saw a black 5 series over thanksgiving and the plate said "KAIZEN". First off, usually only engineers exposed to Japanese production methods hear the word Kaizen often. :)

I knew Kaizen (the word) from my last job, when they were trying to go ISO. Most of what it involved was common sense, but when things are done wrong for so long, it is difficult to get people doing the right things.

  12. Hmm' date=' I thought it worked like that, I'm not sure where I heard that but perhaps I was wrong.

Her car was a nice looking higher-end suv like a mercedes or infinity, something along that line.[/quote']

Hmm.. I would think that if anything would have it that way, it would be something like that! There are several reasons that could've kept the bags from blowing, angle of collision, amount of impact the other vehicle absorbed, etc.... Too many variables to say that the bag should have deployed for sure. Those systems are super high tech. The bags aren't so much, but the sensors, and the logic that deploys them are all pretty amazing.

  13. You know I was tellin the story about this accident to a coworker this morning when I realized something...

the lady the ran the red' date=' smashed headon into the side of the explorer at enough force to throw it up in the air

yet her airbags did not pop! I know cause I didn't seem them and she was able to drive out of the intersection,

when they deploy it kills the engine and it not supposed to start back up. Thats kinda strange ain't it, but I guess

theres really no way to "test" them to insure they are gonna work.[/quote']

That's a negative on the airbag deployment disbling the vehicle! Maybe some of the newest vehicles are that way, but we work on crashed vehicles, with airbag deployments, and they start right up! I'm going to guess there was something wrong with the airbag system to begin with, because if the light's on, they ain't gonna work! Any recollection of what kind of vehicle she was driving?
