    Ford sales up 43%

Now, that I can agree with. Certainly people are doing that. I think i was misinterpreting what he said. However, GM's and Chrysler's problems are not Obama's fault.
  2. MAZDA RX-7 OMG DUH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. If you think for a second that they still would've done this had the Toyota recall not happened, you are sorely mistaken. Every company with half a clue is taking every possible safety problem extremely seriously right now. Just look at all the recalls that have happened since the Toyota incident. No one wants to be in the position so they're tying up all their loose ends right now while the hype is elsewhere.

    Ford sales up 43%

are you implying that gm and chrysler are doing bad because of Obama while Ford is successful simply because they didn't take bailout money? because if you're looking at it that narrowly, you really have no idea what you're talking about.
  5. PWWN3DD!!!!!!!! Anyway, Utah is full of religious idiots. Religious idiots do idiotic things. Sadly, I'm not surprised. It's fucking stupid though.
  6. Unfortunately it's a concept. None of that shit is even remotely relevant.
  7. It's okay, I'd be embarrassed too.
  8. did you read the thread or even any post in this thread?
  9. This guy has a few mods and was running a tune for 97 octane on the PON/AKI scale (Average of RON & MON). The gas he actually put in it was 98 octane on the RON scale. 98 RON ~ 93 PON/AKI. That is not even CLOSE to being Nissan's fault. First of all it was modded to run more boost, perhaps half assedly done. Second of all he wasn't running anywhere near the proper octane of fuel. The cost of the engine is outrageous I agree, but it's not Nissan's fault this dumbass blew it up. Same thing would've happened in any engine. If this guy thinks he's got pushrods he's not a very sharp pencil.
  10. I hope it's half as good as the G8 was.
  11. Mallard is right on about the power numbers, and much smarter than me for reaalizing that this was the best wy to explain the speed difference, haha. I'd gladly let you drive mine after you got a couple laps in a rental kart and got a feel for things, but if you're 250 you will unfortunately have a hard time finding someone with a big enough seat. My buddy who is 250+ just got a kart and he had to go get an XXL seat which was a bit hard to find. I can't speak on his behalf or anyone else's but my guess is anyone would let you try if you came across as intelligent and responsible and legitimately interested. Put down some rental laps to show you aren't a complete moron and you might find someone to let you. If that doesn't work offer them 20 bucks! Last time I was there there were a couple of major league rednecks flying around the track in rentals, bumping into each other and being generally retarded. I love rednecks as much as the next guy but when one of them said "I wanna get in one of them fast ones and see what I can do out there!" I cringed at the thought. Another thing to note, you are going to have to make a decent investment if you decide to jump into this sport. The kart, parts, trailer (if you dont have a truck or van), gear, etc. adds up. $2500 for TaG with stand, starter, extra parts, etc. is a really nice price. KT100 will be a little cheaper but parts and stuff add up. It's the cheapest form of racing but it's still racing. Regardless I highly encourage you to go check it out. Why do all of my posts end up so damn long!?
  12. 250 isn't too much I don't think. They have heavy classes. Not sure exactly what weights are involved and I may be overestimating the kart weight, but 250 should be do-able. The rental karts at the track will be similar to speeds, but a KT100 will be twice as fast and a TAG will be even faster than a that.
  13. Their rental karts are pretty slow. IIRC they are 4 strokes. Still worth it in my opinion to at least get an idea of what it like. I've never driven one myself. If you have absolutely zero karting/racing/driving experience it will be a really good starting point, certainly way above anything at magic mountain or putt putt. There's a place by my school in flint with 9hp 4 strokes and a really good track where I did a ton of karting before buying my own, and there's plenty to learn even on the "slow" karts. Some people also have arrive and drives where they will prep a kart for you to show up and drive in. It's more expensive, and I'm not sure where you'd go to find one. A KT100 will go up to about 50mph on the back straight at Circleville. With the right gearing and a long straight they will go quite a bit faster than that. A lot of people who race faster karts say they're slow but they are twice as fast as any kart you've ever rented anywhere. It's a really good starting place and you won't be disappointed. Nearly everyone starts in KT100 and almost anyone you talk to will recommend starting in KT100. The kart is about 150-200lbs depending on how much weight you put on it. The minimum weight is to make the racing even for drivers of all sizes. Most people add lead weight to get near the min weight and fill up the tank enough to get all the way there. 350 is driver + kart, its not as heavy as it sounds. I haven't dealt with any weight or anything yet, though I probably should get it to race weight and balanced.
  14. he said "like a light blue gray" That would not be world rally blue, he knows what that is.
  15. Circleville is a sprint track. Here are the different classes: http://www.msokc.org/classes.html Here's a picture of the track: http://www.kartlifters.com/ Races are on weekends. Open practice (unlimited laps/unlimited time) is a whopping 15 dollars per driver on any non race day, which includes many weekends. I'm new so I've only done practice days. They are fun.
  16. My brother said an Impreza (03-04) flew past him on the freeway last night (in the rain/fog) only to be seen later against a wall on an exit ramp. which one of you learned the hard way that AWD doesn't make you invincible or compensate for your complete lack or driving skills? Or am I presuming too much and maybe something just broke (and subsequently sent you into a wall)? I believe he said it was getting onto 71 or something. somewhere near that whole 670/70/71 interchange. I thought it was sort of funny/ironic.
  17. TONS of people run KT100 (yamaha 100cc class). At least at the kart tracks. It's probably the most popular kart engine in the country. Starting in a shifter is a bad idea IMHO. You're much better off learning to be fast and smooth in a single speed 100cc kart, there's plenty of shit to focus on without shifting gears. Not to mention it's cheaper to buy a kt100 kart and way cheaper to maintain. If you're new you'll probably fuck shit up (I did) so cheap parts are a plus. There's lots of stuff to learn as far as clutch tuning, carb tuning, chassis tuning, etc. without the added complexity of a full blown shifter. TAG could be another option, but its a lot more power for a beginner and a lot more expensive.
  18. good idea! first and foremost figure out what class you want to be in and what engine you want to race, then try to figure out what you want to spend. It's pretty straightforward though, look for a kart with the engine set up you want that's made by a good manufacturer and is relatively new. It should look clean and not beat to hell. For the most part they all have pretty much the same features, and for a beginner the little differences won't matter. You can post ads here if you want to get some opinions or check out ekartingnews.com to see what people have to say. I just started last year but feel free to PM me if you need any help, there's a lot to the sport and information is surprisingly hard to find, which can be overwhelming. You definitely won't regret buying one though.
  19. This sums up the past year for me pretty damn well, except i didn't switch to motorcycles, i switched to karting. I loved building my car, I loved everything I learned, I loved having a fast car, but at the end of the day it's completely pointless. There's no way I could afford to race it on a track regularly or maintain it if I did, so I was left with a car I could take to drag days (boring to me, and def. not the ideal use for this car), or drive around on the street over shitty mostly straight roads in traffic hoping for a ten second window to floor it which might get me arrested. And once every 6 months I might find a race worth my time which could also get me arrested. There's honestly no point. Sure you might get attention and compliments (from .0001% of the population who cares) but that was never a big deal to me and the appeal wears off pretty quick. The fact that my friend nearly killed himself and his wife while banging out on an exit ramp at triple the speed limit and the fact that I got busted doing 140+ didn't help either. My car ended up sitting because there was just no point in driving it. So I sold it and bought a kart, which is the best decision I ever made. ever. A track day costs me $15 and I can pull more g's then any street car would ever dream of. If I want a full set of race slicks its $180, total. I can pull my kart with a freakin xB (while getting 28mpg) which would never dare tow another full size car. It's all around 100 times more economical than full scale racing. There's tons of room to grow and get into faster and more serious karting. Driving on the track balls to the wall for 20 minutes straight is 1000 times more rewarding than any street driving ever was. I honestly for the life of me can't figure out why this isn't more popular.
  20. had 372 at the wheels but sold it for something with about 18hp at the crank. at 1.5+ lateral g's, who cares about hp?
