  1. This: Although in Advanced I see people passing on the inside all the time and it's not really a problem. The intermediate group is a cluster most of the time. It's probably the group with the biggest difference in speed/ability out on the track at the same time, and typically has the largest group as well. Glad I got out of there when I did!
  2. I was hoping this was going to be a discussion on how to set up a good pass in a race situation. We'll have to discuss that later. I have learned a lot about passing and getting passed from racing. The long story short is, in a track day situation there's no need to put an aggressive pass on anyone. And keep in mind, what you think is ok is likely to close for most trackday guys. Trust me, I was told what I thought was a super clean pass spoiled one of the intermediate riders during the "mixed" session after the last mock start.
  3. Specifically the bed, and how it accomodates 6-8 naked adult males comfortably? He kept trying to show me that, even though I didn't wanna buy it?
  4. Welcome and nice bikes!
  5. My cousin threatened to call DSS on my uncle. My uncle handed him the phone and said if he called DSS he better call 911 and tell them to send an ambulance because he was gonna beat his ass. My cousin never called?
  6. And I'll add insurance of all types to that list. Home, Auto, Health, Life, etc.
  7. Making us look good again Marty! Looks like some more great shots of up-close racing!
  8. Updated original post with some info on drawing date. I am going to push it back to sell as many tickets as possible. As of today 10/24/12 I have sold about 120 tickets and I'm so close to the goal I don't want to quit now.
  9. Everyone else has posted lots of great info so far. Here's some of the scams to look out for: The buyer wanting to send someone to pick up the bike and their "purchaser" will have the money for you on the day of pick up. (The funds are not going to clear your bank.) They buyer accidentally sends you 6,000 instead of your 5,000. Ooops! No big deal, can you just give him the 1,000 extra back when the bike is picked up? (You just lost your bike and 1,000 cause their 6,000 check is no good.) I actually prefer to arrange shipping or be involved in some way, then I know the person coming to get the bike isn't someone working for the buyer (or the buyer himself) that is trying to rip me off. I've had 3 bikes shipped to me and shipped 1 out that I sold, and haven't had any problems so far.
  10. Welcome, going to be an interesting year in 2013 for sure!
  11. The only thing worse then that is beating someone to the finish line, only to find out they didn't count that lap because they took to long getting the flag out. So we're even!
  12. Stupid cagers, they're always out to get us when we're in the wrong lane.
  13. Yup awesome pics! I haven't got a chance to go through my cd yet but I think those are on there. 2013 can't come soon enough!
  14. You know Andrew, there is a thread Todd started for 2013 rule change suggestions. Perhaps you should make a few?
  15. Ya I don't know, I thought Todd would make an exception considering the last round was cancelled? Like I said earlier, if I can't beat someone who only ran certain rounds and I ran them all, maybe I don't deserve their spot. You ran 5 rounds and would've done 6 if it wasn't cancelled. I can see making an exception to the rule for you. Some of the other guys only ran 4, so there was no way they were gonna make 6 rounds. That is where I would draw the line.
  16. It's usually just the intake valves that go since that is where the dirt gets sucked in. But most will replace the exhaust valves while they're in there. If you get one the first thing I would do is get a manual cam chain tensioner, or you can mod the auto tensioner. A lot of people including myself have had good luck taking the stock tensioner apart and cutting about 1/4" off the spring inside. The next thing you should do is join SuzukiCentral.com for everything you want to know about a z400.
  17. And if you are looking for a used z400, the first sign that the valves are shot is hard starting. It won't want to start, and runs rough until it gets warmed up.
  18. Yes, the stock auto-cam chain adjuster is known to prematurely stretch the chain. Also, the stock air filter is crap and lets in too much dust. It doesn't make a good seal around the airbox. The dust gets in and wears out the hard coating on the cheap valves, and then they get cupped. If you are finding them that are rebuilt with stainles valves (usually "kibblewhite" or "ferrea" brand) and new cam chains with manual tensioners, the person has just saved you a lot of work and made it way more reliable. The next thing to do is get rid of that stock air filter and get a clamp-on style.
  19. Something like that! You can talk smack when you start racing though.
  20. That would defeat the purpose of it being a "secret" weapon now wouldn't it?
  21. You better get used to it! I've got a secret weapon for next year!
  22. I really don't see the big deal with bumping to expert anyways. We are all out there to have fun and at the end of the day, a faster rider is going to beat me no matter what color their number plate is. Heck, if you're just in it for the trophy, most of us could have ran expert every race and probably been in the top 3 in points. Most of the races only had 1-2 expert 600 guys anyways.

Ya, good luck getting that thing down any trails through the woods. Way too wide.
