  1. Ohio has lots of cool stuff if you're a non long distance traveler. Clifton Falls is neat, of course there is Ash Cave, old man cave, Dayton Air force museum, AMA museum and COSI to name few.
  2. +1 One thing no one has suggested directly is the idea that he might not have had another mode of transportation available. If I HAD to get somewhere and a vespa was all I had I guess I'd be riding a vespa in the snow.
  3. Wasn't trying to be critical, just stating the obvious maybe. As I said the evolution should be interesting and hopefully we can all find a way to help or become involved? I also think some dual sport humor would fit your program perfectly. Nothing like a good do-hicky joke.
  4. Sounded good Swing, trouble is, as you said, so many of the things you are discussing are a matter of personal opinion or preferance. It is still good to hear the voice of DS growing and look forward to the evolution of your podcast.
  5. I'd have to say he must have had some idea what he was doing given you didn't say he fell or was at a ridiculously low speed. Good on you for showing concern for a fellow rider even if you don't agree with their reasoning.
  6. While I don't keep up with military weapon intel anymore, the idea of a rail gun used to employ a projectile at much greater than mach6. Origional idea employed projectiles of 1 or 2 grams accelerated to speeds near 100,000 mps where trajectories are basically unaffected. As a side note the initial tech was also proposed for use from a space based platform "Star Wars" tech.
  7. Yeah, I understand the physics of inertia applied to low mass at high velocity however, it still begs the question of what applied targets would and wouldn't be suited for such a weapon. For example not much good for attacking planes, moving targets on the ground would be out too. Large structures like a hanger or military base would experience only fractional damage as compared to a bomb or missle. Obviously the most susceptible object would be large water craft. So unless it can fire many projectiles in fast succession it appears to be of little real use.
  8. Shootouts, sure. But there dramatizations staged for the historic Ticondaroga RR for the fun of the tourists. My uncle actually is one of the "sheriffs" protecting the train from the robbers. Of course the good guys always win! As a quick draw competitor I know the RR is safe.

    Epic Quotes.

Every sentance in "the F word" on South Park.
  10. I don't care if the front door is open with a neon sign saying 'Not Home" no one wishes or deserves to be robbed. In the Adirondacks of Northern NY people rarely lock their homes and seldom remove keys from their car. You know why? Because God forbid you get caught stealing because everyone knows everyone else and they all have guns. I like living where my neighbors know me and I know them and we all watch out for eachother. And yes, FRG, a canine companion is a great home defense system.
  11. Snow is awsome, but this is Ohio. We don't get real snow, we get frozen slush and ice with 30+mph wind. Yet, I am ready for it with a new battery in the 2500 4X4 and the plow on the tractor ready to fight the drifts Ohioans call snow.

Well, take your time and don't live too fast. Troubles will come and they will pass. Find a woman and you'll find love. Don't forget, son, there is someone up above. -- Lynard Skynard
  13. A real win would be not watching tv. I think everyone can agree that 80% or more of the crap they put on the glowing box isn't worth watching but people watch it for a lack of motivation to do anything else. I still am amazed some people pay $50 or more a month for tv, that's $600 a year for something you can't eat, live in or trade with someone. It's money thrown out a window. Especially when you consider the trillions spent in the US on advertisements to sell the vibrating gut buster, or chia Obama or the best one I've ever seen, "Two $2 bills for $10 plus SH"! People buy this shit!

As my girl friend said once, "12 one way half dozen the other." I said, "I'll take 12". She still doesn't get it.
  15. Yeah, but you fall over a lot more than that on a normal day.
  16. Here ya go! http://pds.exblog.jp/pds/1/201012/07/23/c0057923_148386.jpg
  17. I've always thought being ugly on TV makes what you say more believable. I mean would believe a big ugly guy like me telling you a bike is powerful or a 20 yo hottie in a short skirt and low cut top who doesn't look like she can even ride? Okay, yeah, I'd forget the bike was there too.
  18. So when you expanding to PBS? There's an idea I've had for a long time about getting PBS into doing a show on Ohio motorcycling of all types. Viewers could sent in clips and do interviews of riders and the different areas of Ohio they enjoy.
  19. Really? KLR 650 rode from Springfield to Dresden for a get together when it started snowing about the edge of Gahanna as I headed East. Bike does great in the snow with kenda trackmasters. The KTM does okay too but doesn't have heated grips like the KLR. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20__7jNy15s
  20. I'd have to say riding on snow, ice or both is obviously hazardous but it certainly can be done. Dual Sport riders do it every year.
  21. I've heard some Xenia riders say that they are leaning towards quiter bikes but have not heard if it has become a rule.
  22. The big question is..... Why does a bike need to pay what a car does considering the lower impact and environmental aspects of riding? I say half as many tires should cost only half as much.
