    Geek jokes

I especially appreciated the one about hiding stuff that they were stealing in Dumpsters under ITIL manauls, figuring anyone that saw them would go on to the next Dumpster, avoiding anything ITIL-related at any cost. If you've been to ITIL training :yawn smiley: you'll understand.
  2. The scalper I sold it to didn't get it re-sold.... Note: if selling tickets, sell WELL before the show starts. I sold at 5:30 for $40. At 7:25, floor seats were selling for $25... Note: if going to the Arena District and you expect to eat, getting there 2 hours before the event is <just> enough time - we walked in the arena at 7:30. Yup, sure was. I was pleasantly surprised. Geddy's bass playing kinda reminds me of Entwistle's (r.i.p.) ('cept he doesn't wear it so high). Very loose-stringed quality to the sound of his jazz bass.
  3. I have one floor ticket, free. Bought 4, got one extra. Tonight (Sunday), 7:30 PM. Face value is $72, plus all the Ticketmaster charges. We'll be in the Arena District beforehand, eating/imbibing somewhere, but I should be able to leave the ticket at Will call if we can't meet up.
  4. - log into VCenter - find template you want (Linux, Windows, what version, etc...) - right click, "deploy from template" 10 minutes later, new server up and running. Not exactly "fun", but pretty damn easy. Just don't tell anyone or they'll stop paying us the big bucks...
  5. ^^^^ you show that turd who's boss...
  6. *** NOTE: I know some of you hate the NRA - this is NOT a political discussion, this is a great deal for those that believe in what the NRA stands for *** Pay $25 for an NRA membership, get a $25 Bass Pro Shops gift card, plus an NRA duffel bag. * edit this is good for renewals as well as new memberships. I'm sure the duffel bag isn't the greatest, but your NRA membership is basically free. * edit Chebby says his pop has the duffel and it's teh greatest evar!!! Bass Pro NRA Special Offer <click>
  7. PM sent. Jr. would be stoked...
  8. G-Max 68s 'Rebel'. Lotsa vents, cool and quiet. WebBikeWorld.com helmet of the year 2008. Has a external dark flip-down visor. Optical quality of the shied(s) is outstanding, as though it isn't there at all. Fits right, protects the nugget. Comes with a helmet bag. $135 or so at the Pony.
  9. I've got a couple of service (4") XDs that conceal well (for me). Try changing the cant on your holster to a more forward position (35 deg. or so); that will get the grip more vertical and should lessen your print. If that doesn't work, GLWS!

The show's inside Nationwide Arena, so I'd advise against buying any lawn tickets from a scalper - they'd be fake. Jus' sayin' - buyer beware. Polaris/Germain Amphitheater closed a couple of seasons ago... Maybe you were thinking the concert was there?
  11. What are some of the best (and/or worst) concerts you've ever seen/heard? Another post got me thinking about this today. Who have you seen perform more than once? Anyone you wouldn't go see again? Seeing Stanley Clarke, bass player extraordinaire, play "School Days" on our table at the Agora/Newport in the early '80's ranks right up there. Saw the Who in Cleveland Stadium mid-'80's. Poured all day. Got to the stadium, it stopped. They played 90 minutes with Daltrey doing all the singing, then another 90 minutes with Townshend doing all the singing. Simon Phillips on the drums was just stupid-good. So extremely talented. When we left, it started raining again. St. Aquarius must be a Who fan... I've seen Santana 4 or 5 times, also Todd Rundgren (with and without Utopia) 5 times, and Pink Floyd 3 times. If they/he come around again, I'll see 'em again. Saw Stevie Ray Vaughan 4 times, but obviously won't see him again. Will not go to see Genesis again, Phil's voice is pretty much shot. Your turn!
  12. "touch my chewie, I'll kill ya". Reminiscent of Francis in Stripes...
  13. Saw Weather Report at the Agora (now the Newport) in way back in '79 or '80. Awesome, awesome show. Saw Stanley Clarke and George Duke (touring together as the Clarke/Duke project), again at the Agora/Newport in '81 or '82. Had a table down on the main floor, Stanley got on our table and played School Days 1 foot from us. Yet another killer show. </threadjack>

I have 4 floor tickets pretty close, but not sure if I'm going.
  15. Jaco (r.i.p.) or Stanley. </thread> Yellow Mister Twisters and Brookside Country Club Pond in Columbus, just sneak through the trees. Park your moped in the bushes across 161... Or, Lake Matinenda in Blind River, Ontario during spawning season (found out after the fact, didn't do it on purpose). 3 - 5 pounders all day long, to the point it got boring. Lake Knox in Knox County is OK. Sometimes great, sometimes nothing.
  16. An oldie but a goody. "oooh ooooh ugh ugh I can't breathe ugh ugh"
  17. When I saw "clown car" I immediately thought of "18 kids and counting" (now 19). This woman treats her, umm, vuh-jayjay like a clown car.
  18. I use a Serpa when I carry on the grounds of the estate (mowing, trimming, walking Charlie the WonderDog). In public I carry iwb with a Crossbreed Supertuck or a Blade-Tech UCH. ***EDIT: You wanted thoughts. Sorry: I like it because I know it's not coming out unless I hit the release button, which is right at your fingertip in a natural draw position. Handy when on the tractor, bouncing around. I don't open carry in public, but if I did I would use this holster.
  19. Another option (for Sprint users): Block texts from a certain phone number: send a text to 9999 that says: BLOCK XXX-XXX-XXXX , where the X's are the area code and phone number you want blocked.
  20. Only blocks messaging, not phone calls. Just trying to give the man free options. I just posted up a different way to attack the problem.
  21. Google Voice will work IF she's (I'm assuming again) calling the Google Voice number. Since the calls are coming into his regular cell number... If you keep her in your address book, you can set up an exception for her so that the phone doesn't ring/vibrate when she calls/texts: - click Profiles - scroll to the 'active' profile and click the menu button (to the left of the trackball, with the BlackBerry "dots" logo on it - choose New Exception - type a name in the Title field ("ignore bitch", whatever - it doesn't matter) - in the From filed, click the trackball, choose Add Name, find and choose her - scroll down until the Ringer field to the right of Custom Phone Tune is highlighted - click the Ringer field, then press M on the keyboard (should take you to Mute) - click the trackball to select - click the back button - click Save IF you use more than one profile, these steps will need to be repeated for each profile.
  22. Easy/free way to block SMS/MMS/PIN messages: (on the BlackBerry device): - Take her (I'm assuming) out of your address book - click Options - click Security - click Firewall in the Firewall section: - click the SMS, MMS, and PIN boxes so there's a checkmark in them - click the Address book contacts box in the "Except messages from" section hit the back button (the one to the right of the trackball), choose Save, and you're done. Realize that you won't get any SMS, etc. messages unless the person's already in your address book. Might not be a perfect solution, but should tide you over 'till the restraining order is on the books. I've found many references to iBerry White/Black List on teh intarwebs as a phone and message blocking app - however, half the people seem to think it's great, the other half think they wasted their money, so I cannot recommend it to you.

  24. No, you are correct; however in a heavy drinker, even 6 hours without booze is "withdrawl" - whether or not they are actually trying to quit. Perhaps it was a poor example on my part, as it's been 40 years since I saw Pop like that, and maybe my memory isn't exactly right. Yes, I was 3 or 4 when I saw some things - unfortunately those memories won't go away, and I also didn't learn from them. I thought about that and decided not to write about it - figured I had already spouted off enough, plus had already spiraled away from the OP and the direction the thread <should> (imho) have been going and had digressed into something else entirely.
