  2. Those are properly called "Spankerchiefs", or "spankies" for short.
  3. Just paid this quarter. Calling you in mid-September.
  4. That reminds me - you need to come out and put motion in the garage, and replace my Brinks monitoring with yours. So, I assume there's a delay on the garage alarm, like there is on the entry door, and/or can it be set up to disarm when the opener receives the "open sesame" signal, otherwise stay armed and go nuts when motion is detected?
  5. The people who get busted for DUI at publicized checkpoints have "stupid" disease.
  6. Really? My buddy has a used bike store on campus in Columbus. If you're serious, I'll ask him to find one.
  7. I've got 550' or so of up and down driveway, and my locking differential wheeled snow thrower works fine. Not sure you really need track drive for Ohio snow. Mine's made it through 18", uphill, and all the slushy crap at the street left by the township, without even pausing. But, they do look cool, and if you want, then by all means do it. Just trying to save you some shekels.
  8. Some people can quit drinking alcohol cold turkey, for them it's "just that easy". I did, almost 6 and half years ago. For others, it's not that easy. There are physical and psychological factors in play here. Ever seen someone addicted to alcohol that had "the shakes" in the morning? Are they shaking on purpose? No, their body is reacting to its desire for more alcohol. Can alcoholism be "cured"? No, it's a chronic disease, meaning once you're an alcoholic, you're one until the day you die. You might be a sober alcoholic, but you're an alcoholic nonetheless. The turn this thread has taken is silly. Alcoholism is a disease, whether you think it is or not. The National Institutes of Health, The Mayo Clinic, and anywhere else you bother to look will tell you it is. Perhaps you think it isn't a disease because unlike cancer (for instance, or MS, or Alzheimers, or...), you can <sometimes> stop the progression of the symptoms on your own, without any outside interdiction. Can't quit cancer on your own, unfortunately. I'll give you that. Maybe if we said this 9 times (caught) drunk driver has a "problem", and needs help with his "problem", you'd be better with that description? Bottom line, Mr. 9 times has a problem with alcohol, and he obviously isn't going to involuntarily quit cold turkey. Alcoholism is certainly to blame here, but more to blame is Mr. 9 times and his family and friends, who certainly all saw the symptons, and no one did enough (or anything) to help him. Maybe jail will help - he'll be drinking less.
  9. 45 in less than two weeks. Fuck - I'm even older than SWing'R...
  10. me too. Is he back from vacation already?
  11. (in b4 jrmmiii) You wouldn't have bitched about this when your boy W or his dad was prez. (closest I could find to "fanning the flames").
  12. I think I like the new guy... On a related note: coming home from the Mopar Nationals Saturday in the pouring rain (in the truck), I counted at least 8 guys on sportbikes with no gear whatsoever, except for a pair of sunglasses. Try sticking your head out the car window at 55, with sunglasses, and see how well you can see (even without rain the tears will be forming). Idiots. Did see one GoldWing, both rider and passenger had rainsuits on, and the espresso machine had a cover on it, too...
  13. Short answer - yes, you can tether. BUT: You <may> want to cancel that order. You're gonna pay $39.95/month for only 250MB of data, or $59.99 for 5GB of data. Watch some Youtube or Hulu, and that 250MB will be done quickly. You'd be better off sticking with cable, at probably the same monthly rate, with higher speeds and unlimited data. A new netbook can be had starting at around $200, when you figure in 24 months of Verizon @ at least $40/month, that's another $880 you're paying. that $880 plus the initial cost of the Verizon netbook will pay for a nice netbook, or laptop if it doesn't have to be a netbook.
  14. Depends upon that state's laws. Reciprocity means that that state honors your Ohio CHL - you still have to follow their laws. If it's legal there, you can, even if you can't in Ohio.
  15. Yup. Good to use at the range. Walmart always has it, cheap and reliable.
  16. ***EDIT: re-read OP, I have the mini Leatherman with me most all the time. I know you're military, but auto knives can also be sold to "collectors", if one is not military or LEO... Laws vary by state. I believe you're allowed to own an auto knife in Ohio, regardless of your currrent or former profession, you just can't sell one. Go figure. I could give you mine, and then sell you my half-eaten sammich for $300... I have the Benchmade 3300 Infidel, auto, otf, stainless. Next time we're going to be at the same place I'll bring it along and let you fondle it, see if you like it. +1 on the Ginsu! Have 3 - one in the barn, one in the garage, and one in the kitchen. Cut through whatever you want, stay as sharp as the day I got them. Also have various assorted pocket knives, a mini Leatherman, and a fixed blade I saw at Harbor Freight for $9; conceals matches, sewing kit, fishing line & hook, safety pins, buttons in the handle, and has a compass.
  17. At least it was in the runoff area, so not too hard on you. All I could think of was "brakes....brakes...BRAKES!BRAKES!BRAKES!", a feeling I get when riding in certain friends' cars...

  20. As the saying goes, "if you make something idiot proof, someone will design a better idiot..." ...with all due respect, of course...! Glad I could help ya out. So, time to screw with the neighbor now???
