  1. When I was bike shopping last year a Nightster was on the list. Test rode one (might have been an 883 Iron) during demo days at C&A, also the XR1200. Liked 'em both, but not enough to beat the deal I got on my Half-a-busa. The Nightster could use more rear suspension travel if you plan on riding it further than to Bike Night and back. I think demo days at C&A are the middle of next month, if you're so inclined.
  2. Spotted on the way to Vance's today to pick up some mags - had to turn around and snap a pic with the phone. Sorry about the quality. 4200 block of Cleveland Ave., Columbus. Not the best section of town. Maybe we should have our next ORdN lunch there? Anyone? (if this is a repost, I apologize)
  3. From the album: misc

  13. I'll bet they would, Panama Red... I believe folks smarter than me call this "a teaching moment". The manager of the store <should> know the law. If he (or corporate) doesn't want guns in the store, they can post a sign at the entrance. If they want to say that you need your CHL to OC/CC in their store, that is their right. I don't OC except on my property. Just attracts attention that I don't want. I fully and unequivocally endorse your right to do so, though.
  14. Differences between the XD and XDM: - Match grade barrel on the M - The M's have interchangeable back straps; change them out to fit your hand - The M's have a different pattern on the grip - Higher capacity in the M magazines - The M's have a different trigger system (they call it "minimal reset trigger", or MRT), supposed to be better on follow-up shots - .40 & .45 M's have a 4.5" barrel, the XD is available in 3" sub compact (9mm and .40), 4" (compact, service, tactical) in 9mm, .40, .357, and .45 ACP/GAP, and 5" in 9mm, .40, .357, and .45 Both the XD and XDM have: - Grip safety - Trigger safety - Striker status indicator - Loaded chamber indicator I have the XD in 9mm and .45 ACP, the .45 has a thumb safety, both very reliable and accurate.

    WOSU Buys CD101

They aren't part of The OSU? You're kidding, right? Then why is the call sign w"OSU"? From their website, they say that 40% of their funding comes from their pledge drives. Where does the rest come from? And, who funds PBS, which provides a great deal of their programming? If you said "taxpayers", you're correct.

    your tax dollars at work.
  21. OK, you win, sorta. Fresh (8 day) old install of Win7 Pro, fully patched, on a new 4GB, Core 2 Duo lapper. With no extensions, from click to ready-to-use was <roughly> half a second. Once I get this one dual booted (my current distro is in beta 2 of their next release) I'll repeat in Linux. So, maybe it was the year old install, or the 800 extensions I load, or the old(er) machine, but this one loads fine. Now I'll need to use FF for a week and then apply those tweaks and see if they make any difference. Still like Chrome (and Iceweasel). No IE except when using ILO to get into a server or using the web-based console for BlackBerry servers - both of those jems insist that you use IE...
  22. A lot slower (8 seconds or so) on my laptop; twice as long as Chrome when I boot in into Win7, and the same result into Linux. Loads up a little better on Jr.'s netbook, and no discernible difference on the Core2 quad desktop machine. Not really "impatient as fuck"; just when I'm on my laptop (which is 90%+ of the time at home) and I have a choice I choose the faster loading prog, which in my case is Chrome.
  23. Use Lynx to browse you gui-using wusses... Need to search? Archie. Need to get something? Wget or Finger. The problem I have with FF started with v3.5 - it just takes waaaay too long for the initial load of the browser. Once it's up and running it's fine. I config'ed the settings from the article, but honestly can't tell if they did anything. It's certainly not slower, at least.
