  1. actually' date=' a singular noun (or pronoun) pronounced with a sibilant sound <can> take an apostrophe and an extra [b']s. no real hard/fast rule - depends upon which/whose style guide you're using, how the singular possessive sounds when the s is added, et cetera, ad nauseum...
  2. I bet you would, Panama Red...
  3. tailgate up gives better mileage than leaving it down. tailgate down gives better mileage than having one of those net tailgate thingys. I didn't see any increase with a soft tonneau on my truck, but it's a 6700 pound hemi...ain't nuffin' gonna help.
  4. Beavis/Butthead and "fire! fire!" comes to mind for some reason...
  5. Anyone else going? Deep Jr. and I are heading over to watch practice now, then off to find some milkshakes, dinner, then back for the races tonight. Didn't see Erin Bates this morning for coffee like last year - veeerrry disappointed, as I'm sure is she...
  6. Foxfi isn't free any longer. Try pdanet+; paid app, but works like a champ. Or root it and use a free one.
  7. if you have Verizon you're probably going to 4.1.2, BUT not all features, namely premium suite, will be installed. Thanks, Verizon... update's no big deal. Three~ish minutes, bounce, ready to go.
  8. Good on you for adopting a rescue!
  9. by "roadracing" you mean "racing on a road", not a track, right? i've done that: car, truck, moped, motorcycle, minibike, bicycle, running. only elitist douchebags go to the track to race. oh. nevermind.
  10. i found the whole "we won't show you the name of the hotel or its exact location until after you book the room" shtick annoying as h3ll and quit trying. This was at hotwire.
  11. one bed for you-know-what, one for sleeping... never used either service before, so can't help with firsthand knowledge. Looking now to see if there are any gotchas. *edit: couldn't find anything at the Conrad Chicago that was not a king bed. Online rates directly were $275+/night, checking in Friday and leaving Sunday.
  12. grammatical errors a 4th grader should catch grind my gears... my building's one floor, but we're moving this spring - hope my team's on the ground floor (easier access to our new data center, don't ya know).
  13. Get a tiny cake - Make sure the video is rolling, put a bib on her, and watch her plant her face straight into it, dig her paws into it, and generally make a helluva mess. Get a regular cake for everyone else to enjoy.
  14. damn KK took the "who's the father joke" right outta ma hands. 'Grats, dude!
  15. ^^^ looks like you could do at least 40 burgers/breasts at a time.
  16. if anyone needs propane tanks, i can get them at our cost (employee/manufacturer) pricing - roughly half what you'd pay new, less if you want a blem (structurally sound/safe). we used to be able to get grills at cost due to supplier status - I'll check tomorrow if we still do that. probably cheap on Balloon Time Helium too, if you're into that...
  17. IP's right...you cannot initiate a confrontation, escalate one, or continue one (with a firearm and expect to get found not guilty of something).
  18. who the hell's this "big-ern" fella? he the one what wants to start up a club? hmmm...
  19. it's pudding, not custard. ice cream, cake, pudding, and pie.
  20. although i've no doubt the "creeper" is a "creeper", dude that filmed it should be on the lookout for a possible slander suit, should "creeper" wish to pursue one. he also shouldn't publicly post threats...just asking for trouble. imho, shoulda beat creeper's @ss without the camera going, or just let the cops handle it. ...oh, and it's "That's a lie", not "thats a lie". If you're gonna post your videos, you should learn punctuation - not doing so makes you look not-so-smart. sorry, pet peave.
  21. the Swiss talk - you're about 15 years too late. The other (formerly) safe havens, e.g. Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, also talk these days - especially since the G20 in 2009... Geneva's a fantastic city. I need to go back, visit the homeland again.
  22. Had to get you to read somehow... As to why it's not broken out - Fuck-all if I know, it's the IRS. but, it's just the snapshot, I'd venture the details are on the site somewhere, but I need to get some shut-eye. If you really wanna know, have at it... Income is income, whether it's a paycheck or a distribution from Merrill Lynch. It is taxed. Yes, at a lower rate than "regular" income, but it is still taxed.
  23. Jesus, try the link IN POST 13. It links to a .PDF from The IRS, at IRS.GOV. edit: I created the link in my post, I know to where it links. you say "the rich" don't pay their "fair share". How much more should they pay? You're right, though, that individuals are paying more now as a percentage of total revenues than ever. Cannot continue.
