Spent all day yesterday getting some FactoryLink software (server, clients) set up with "help" from a vendor of Rockwell Automation tools. Any of you who have ever undertaken such an endeavor and have had the (mis) fortune of needing to call Rockwell Tech Support (really? replacing the arial.ttf file will make the stupid activation client work? REALLY?) will appreciate this:

Welding shop can test it, can take it on trade, and/or can dispose of it for you. If it's an old enough acetylene tank, they used to be lined with asbestos. Could possibly sell it as part of a d.I.y. meth lab kit.

They (acetylene tanks) have to be visually inspected every 10 years, big fines if not done (also dangerous as hell if the cylinder fails). Figures, I spent all day in our Columbus cylinder plant. I will call over there tomorrow and get you some prices, direct from the manufacturer (us, duh). For reference, 20# Propane tanks for your grill are $8 or $9 at cost, $35+ retail...
