I see many deer carcasses on road with no signs. There are no signs on my street, yet it is common for deer to cross the road right by my house. The little buggers walk right down my driveway.

That's what I mean. It's her job to let you know what is legal and not legal, but what value is there in belaboring the point about your father?

A plumbing contractor just arrived where I work, and as he reached the door he put his hand out to the handle, put one knee on the ground, bowed his head, then stood up and opened the door. Typical white American guy - who then walked 20 feet and stood with hi other plumber buddies and started chatting - they saw it and didn't react. Is there some kind of religion / cultural practice that requires you to kneel before entering a building? Or does this guy have some major OCD (I've heard of rare people who have issues going through doors due to OCD and have a ritual to do so).

If i can automate it I'd do all of Ohio.

Anyone know of a map of the locations of deer crashes in Ohio? Failing that, I was going to send an email to the Ohio Department of Public safety inquiring about getting a download of accident report data for animal-involved crashes (gps co-ordinates, etc). If they can provide that then I hope to provide a map showing those lcoations to help identify the most dangerous roads. I can import that data into a mysql database and display the results on a google map.

I think Hank got a raw deal with that - I agree that he was not comparing Obama to Hitler and was actually commenting more about the unlikely pairing of Obama and Boehner as being like "Pairing Hitler and Netanyahu" for the golf game. He could have gone with a less controversial comparison, like "Nancy Grace and Casey Anthony..." or "Bruce Willis and Ashton Kutcher...", but that still doesn't change the fact that people over-reacted (either becuase they were too stupid to understand what he really said, or just chose to use it as an opportunity to bash on an Obama-hater), ESPN proved itself to have zero testicular fortitude and a minor injustice was done. Still, any chance that ESPN could see the error of their ways and invite him back is long gone now that he has written the new song.

Keep the faith, and work on your rehab. I was told my ankle injury was season-ending. There was talk of having to have surgery to correct the torn ligaments etc. By listening to the medical folk and following their advice religiously I was able to get ahead of the curve on my rehab and got back on the bike with about 6 weeks of riding weather left. Injury was mid June (Had only had the bike since April!) and got back to regular commuting on the bike in mid september. My season is over when I start seeing frost on the ground in the mornings. I don't mind the cold, it's traction that is the deal-breaker for me. Yes, it sucks. Don't rush it, don't give yourself a setback trying to do too much or you could be laid up all next season too. Listen to the doctors - they've done this waaay more times than you have (I hope!)

Pick any twisty road more than 3 miles from a bar. The cruiser riders will have all ridden their drunk asses off the highway by then and you'll have the road to yourself.

As you know, there is an amount of money that you can charge for notary services. If you charge more then you can lose your notary status. Charge the couple of dollars that you are allowed to. Anyone wants to bitch, tell them to go elsewhere. Dunno why people ask each other free services anyway unless it's the barter system (I'll fix your computer if you fix my lawnmower, etc). I am not about to do free computer work for anyone unless we live in the same house. Notary services should be no different.

Did you post about it? Glad to see you're ok. What time of day? Were you awar of the deer before the hit (ie it was standing by the sde of the road then suddenly jumped out). What part of your gear took the worst of it? Is there any additional gear you wish you'd been wearing? Were you able to self-rescue or did others help? I'm getting more and more nervous about deer as my morning commute gets darker and darker...
