  1. Ah yes.. I think most of us have been there... "Heeey, ladies.... BANG"
  2. Yeah, there's a bunch of free stuff out there.
  3. Sophos offers free AV for the Mac. EDIT: Hah! Posted first, then read the article. Graham Cluely from Sophos is quoted.
  4. I'm not willing to say who I think is at fault until I know how fast the bike was going. It was a 35 zone? If the bike was doing 50 or under then the car should have seen them (was the headlight visible? Was the second bike alongside him?) But if the bike was doing 100mph, then would a reasonable driver recognize the bike as a threat? Was the bike even visible when the car set out? No clue. Will have to wait to see the police report.
  5. Hit and Run?? http://newsok.com/former-osu-wrestler-killed-in-auto-accident/article/3568990 No mention of hit and run in this article. They ID'd the truck driver.

THAT'S why she kept screaming out that it was good to "finally be with a real man".
  7. You can get a DUI on a bicycle, I know that... Having said that, I'm not overly concerned about an officer ticketing me for wheeling my office chair from one desk to the other in my study after I've have a few Guinnesses.
  8. If you are adjusting a wheeled chair on a public highway then you deserve a DUI.

I'm torn. Part of me wants to defend a fellow Brit, but most of me is embarrassed that he IS a Brit. Kinda like when you're at a bar, and your buddy is really drunk and getting in the bouncer's face... Most of the time you want to step in and say; "Sorry, Bouncer, he doesn't mean it, I'll take him home now..." yet deep down inside you're actually thinking that the whuppin' would do him good.

Dammit. Every time I manage to make the locals here see British people as smart some Jasper Carrott-style knobhead comes along and fucks it all up. (Doing the JC knobhead sign to you now) Did you ever find ₤1.85 on the M1? The "Average Speed Cameras" will not like that. You're probably too young to have driven on a British road. Or know who Jasper Carrot is (he was a stand-up comedian before becoming a game show host)
  11. At my class I was one of 6 walk-in hopefuls. 3 of us got in. This was Delaware, last MSF class of 2004.

Can they stand up on their bikes and flap their arms like wings?
  15. Interesting. What if they turn left without their turn signal?

Ringo: I honestly and truly hope you can get past this. The problem is you are incapable of seeing how your riding is going to impact your life or some innocent person's life. In time you will come to understand how stupid you have been. I hope that realization hits you BEFORE you're standing at The Gates explaining to Saint Peter why you brought an innocent family with you. Please, grow up.

Ringo: Nobody is impressed. Disgusted is a better word.
  18. I'm not doing anything wrong... Just reporting that IP was selling a bike trailer for ludicrous money. If I wanted to trailer my bike I'd do a U-Haul trailer for a one-off or buy a 4'x7' mesh floor trailer from Tractor Supply for $550.
  19. Cat thieves are not going to be brazen enough to carry dozens in an open pickup... I was involved in a case once where I caught a guy stealing my neighbor's catalytic converter. Called the police and gave them the license # of the car. They did their voodoo and found the cat - and caught the thief red handed at the junkyard selling a cat he stole from another SUV. Read the laws on citizen's arrest very carefully. I don't believe you can citizen's arrest for a misdemeanor. Felony theft is $500 or more. Even though it can cost thousands to buy a new cat the valuation of an item stolen from a private individual is based upon the *used* value of that item. That is, whatever the junkyard will pay for it. About $50. (If the cat is stolen from a commercial vehicle then the valuation is based upon the cost to replace with a new item) Citizen's arrest for a misdemeanor is likely going to backfire, hard. And doing violence upon them is equally going to backfire. Cat clamp, straight pipe, park in a garage, engrave your vin on the cat with "If offered for sale please call the police" etc. Sucks, but there's not much you can do without getting into trouble yourself.
  20. Trailer? Hah. Was at Iron Pony today. Saw a trailer there that was $2,300!! For a 1-bike open A-shaped trailer.
  21. I wrote some scripts at home that monitor the GPS tracker (using the "shared" data mobile url) and tell me a few things: - If the GPS tracker currently reporting position? Sometimes I forget to hook up the battery tender to one of the bikes and don't ride for a week or two. If the phone runs out of battery then I get an email telling me that the GPS track is not updating any more. - I get an email telling me whenever one of my bikes or my car starts moving. The idea being that I get a "VStrom is moving" email and I'm sitting at my desk at work or at a restaraunt at lunch then I can respond to it immedately. Call the police and use the GPS track to direct them to the bike. My android lets me do all that too, don't need a PC.
  22. I use Instamapper(.com) and my wife has the URL and user/pass. She can see where my bike is whenever she wants. If I'm overdue on a ride then she will be able to locate the bike in a few seconds. However, it does rely on cellphone coverage, so Hocking might be iffy. When I took my Canada trip last year I gave my buddies the URL and I actually got a call from one of them because he said; "The GPS track showed you stopped off the side of the road in woods for a couple of hours." It was a cellphone coverage problem.
  23. Just seem to me that a natural reaction to suffocation is to claw at the thing that is stopping you from breathing. Removing gloves suggests he was "with it" at that point in time. They also mentioned arthiritis. I wonder if he had problems removing the chin strap on a good day...
