  1. It's under warranty so the fix will be free. Iron Pony says they need to have the HJC rep look at the helmet to decide if they will replace the whole helmet or just the chin bar.

If I had to buy a new one, I'd definitely look at the Nolan.

  2. When I bought my Strom I had to offload it from the trailer on my own. 0.1 miles on the odo and I was conviced I was gonna drop the damn thing. I made an 8" wide ramp from scrap lumber and took a bunch of cinderblocks I had lying around and made myself platforms for under my feet. I was able to back the bike off the trailer while sitting astride it, and my I had a solid surface under both feet.
  3. The autopsy will show if the mud theory is true. If he had the time/dexterity to remove his gloves then he can easily use his fingers to scoop mud away from his mouth by reaching up under the chin bar. I have to believe that if he aspirated on mud then that's because he fell unconscious for another reason. HOWEVER... I just returned a HJC Sy-MAX 2 flip-face helmet today because the latch broke and the chin guard wouldn't flip up. This type of helmet CAN be removed with the chin bar locked, but some cannot. After this experience I will never wear a flip-face that cannot be removed if the chin bar locks down.
  4. Good luck. I'd be real anal about it and have the guy with the title get it titled then sign the new title over to me... But as long as you keep that bill of sale then you can defend any claim from him that the bike is actually still his.

Blanket statement like what? I said "frequent" polcie encounters, not bad ones. Too many people posting up on OFCC about being stopped by the police because they got called abot a "man with gun". Ever hear of Daniel Sayers? http://www.ohioccw.org/daniel-sayers-oregon-ohio-open-carry-encounter.html You may pass 100 people who are cool with it, but it only takes one uneducated person to bring the police in. Hopefully the police figure out you're legal in a few seconds, but some police had a policy of charging open carry as a public order offense like "inciting fear" or "distrubing the peace". Like I said, don't want to start a debate about it beign right or wrong. OC is legal and harring OC'ers is just wrong. But, in the real world, not everyone who sees you OC is going to get a warm fuzzy feeling about it.
  6. VIN#: JS1GN7CA842101014 Year: 2004 Make: SUZUKI Model: -- Body Type: Motorcycle Title number: 7900675352 Title status: Active Owner name: STATE FARM MUTUAL AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE COMPANY Number of owners: 1 Issue date: 02/28/2005 Title type: Salvage Control Number: 073185761 Liens 1: Lien 1 cancel date: Liens 2: Lien 2 cancel date: Mileage: 1 Mileage brand: Non-Actual Brands 1: Brands 2: Brands 3: Total Purchase Price: 0 Resides in County: 79 Originally titled 04/27/2004 So it was bought by someone in Tuscarawas county. Wrecked / totalled 10 months later, and now *legally* belongs to State Farm. Since that point the posession of the bike has changed without being documented. You are running the risk that State Farm appears to have legal ownership of the bike. Posession and ownership are two different things. Could have been stolen, or more likely the person who bought it from State Farm never had the title switched into their name (being a salvage title). If the bike is not stolen and you have a bill of sale then maybe you could contact State Farm and ask for the title. They would need to have a duplicate made up and then sign it over to you. Then you could use the title to get a key made up at the dealership. That would be the by-the-book method. Of course if ti was stolen by a previous owner then sold on as legit then contacting state farm could mean they have now "found" the bike and the police come and take it back. How much do you knwo of the bike's history? Can you trace back to State Farm? Otherwise - it's just wiring, you should be able to bypass it. Just need a wiring diagram. Or maybe you could find a generic aftermarket ignition from an auto parts store or a used ignition and key on ebay or something.
  7. Not gonna get much help acting like a spolied kid. "Why would I title it?". Motor vehicles are titled property. It has a title onewhere in some state DMV/BMV somewhere. Is that title "salvage" etc? no clue. Track bike or not, it has a title and if your name is not on that title then you have no proof that you own it. Bill of sale is irrelevant becuase without the title the guy who sold it to you cannot prove HE owned it. Your question shodul have been; Why woudl I register a track bike? And I would agree, no need to register a track bike. Title, though, is different. Post the VIN - I can run it against Ohio BMV online services.
  8. So wait.. You have a bike, but no title, and you're wanting to know how to bypass the ingition? Dunno, but that just sounds dodgy to me. Need advice on how to remove the disk lock too? What about where to get it painted cheaply for cash no questions asked and where to find fake tags?
  9. Try digi-key.com I'd use copper pcb and etch tracks into it. I use toner transfer & muriatic acid.

He can open carry in Ohio. I don't believe he can open carry in TN. It is not a good idea to open carry. Not trying to start a debate on what it right or wrong, just that open carrying will most likely result in frequent police contact.

If you don't have your permit yet, you can't carry in Ohio, never mind TN.

    Fixed that for you.
  13. The prosecutor is over-charging to give wiggle room for negotiations. They'll either drop one in the plea deal, or promise him concurrent sentences or something.

Anyone who rides without a helmet obviously has nothing up there worth protecting. Don't care what you ride, or what level of gear you wear. That's your choice. I'm ATGATT except that if the roads I ride on are all 35mph or under (and all the intersecting roads are 35 or under too) then I'll skip the overpants and go with jeans instead. So if I go from work to the local supermarket then jeans is fine - I won't be going fast enough to slide far enough to burn through jeans. (I hope!) If I'm wearing dockers or shorts then overpants are required for riding.

    I'm rich!

44 is the country code for the UK. When the area code starts with 7 it means mobile phone. Probably a disposable phone paid in cash.
  16. Those angled cameras are ALPR. Automatic License Plate Recognition. They scan the plates or passing/parked cars and run them against a computer looking for... Police: (one or more of the following) Stolen car, stolen plates, invalid registration, suspension / warrants on registered owner, no insurance, no road tax etc. Parking departments: Wanted cars (delinquent unpaid tickets etc)
  17. Another time I called the police and reported an unmarked car that had a woman pulled over. The operator confirmed it was a police car. The lady was broken down and the officer stopped to help. One time, I was driving home from the hardware store with 4 sheets of drywall on the roof rack of my car. A deer jumped out in front of me and the drywall didn't stop as quickly as the car did. About 9pm, dark, 4 sheets of drywall on the road in front of me. Although the drywall was wrecked I didn't want to leave it there for obvious safety reasons, so I put the hazards lights on and started loading them again. An oncoming car slowed right down as it passed, then pulled a u-turn and parked behind me. Then the red/blue lights came on. They asked what happened. Told them. They said they'd use their lights to give me a safer space to load up in, then they helped me load and I was on my way. Never did say what department they were with. I asked if they were with the sheriff's office (was gonna call with an atta-boy). They just said; "We're state". And it turned out the damage to the drywall was on the back, not the wall surface, so I was still able to use them.
  18. That stinks. (don't act like you weren't expecting that one...)
  19. Yup. I hope so too. I read the police report, which states: Bad license, no endorsement, bad tags. Multiple people called 911 to report his reckless riding. Franklin county deputies tried to stop him but he fled at 120mph and rear-ended a car that was exiting from 270N to 161W. Fled the accident on foot but was arrested by Dublin PD. Immediately prior to braking for the car he admitted he was doing 90-100mph. He was hospitalized, then arrested. And two weeks before the accident he was also charged with no license, no endorsemen, bad tags and a healthy handful of driving offenses. I think he plead them all out apart from the no license thing - $200 fine. Obviously incapable of learning.
