My reading of the law is that simple possession is not illegal, but inserting that magazine into the rifle makes the rifle into a "machine gun" or "dangerous ordnance", whether it's got +30 rounds in it or not. You CAN get a permit (ORC 2923.18).

It may have been under an old city code, but Ohio has statewide preemption for years, so the firearms transfer permit is no longer valid.

In the UK there are many more "hot" burglaries (when people are home) but they tend to be more of a sneak-in and sneak-out at night, not home invasion style. Residents are expected to flee rather than confront.

If they don't nix the NFA registration then I predict a short-form NFA registration done like a 1040EZ tax return - online or using a simple form. All would be processed through a NICS check, all done by computer, all automated. A NICS denial will trigger an investigation. A small percentage would be selected at random for a full NFA background check.

Then log your practice session at whatever venue you choose and swear/affirm the log is accurate. Out of curiosity, do you base your concern about ranges on any specific event(s)? I've never had a problem at a range.

Maybe children release a pheromone that causes law-abiding gun owners to become evil? It's another of those laws that sounds helpful when you're not listening to what is actually being said. If guns are the problem then why did no parents complain about the hundred or so ARs at the school right after the shooting? Maybe it's because guns in the hands of people with good intentions are harmless...?
