  1. Speedy, i first thought the bass might be easier to play since there is only 4 strings
  2. So far, the super basic thing i have learned are the string names using this cheesy sentance: Elephants And Donkeys Grow Big Ears. It is a start. With a fixed bridge and a built in tuner on my amp plus a phone app, I see now how easy it is to tune the string standard and then into drop D. But that is cool, i have them now, so just need to use them. There is a local guy, Neil Zaza that makes a living playing guitar. His two big songs are called " I'm all right" and his cover version of Purple Rain. He is more popular overseas than in the US. I would like to spend an hour with him, taking lessons when he offers them.
  3. the red on is an LTD ESP model 10, thinking I needed a second guitar to play the punk stuff in drop D tuning. Photo of Kurt Cobain just for because
  4. Thank you. I plan to start learning the theroy parts of music, chords and scales. Plus with the Internet, there is a site http://www.justinguitar.com/ looks like a goodplace for me to start. After I am comfortable with a basic foundation, then i might take lessons
  5. Brian, I think you had that one the covered bridge ride from back in the day?
  6. Recon, I understand about hanging onto the gear. I have some professional level Nikon digital gear too.
  7. Ok, so I learned I need to pose like Captain Morgan, grow a bread like the Duck Dynasty guys, and park in front of coffe shops, drinking a normally hot beverage loaded with ice cubes. Got it. And the cool kids called the other electrical tape design a hash-tag.
  8. Thank you for the links. I have one manual for the Nikkormat. The on I have is the EL model, with a battery for the spot meter. THe version before mine, is just the Nikkormat. I only have one lens with the "rabbit ears". Were you looking to sell any of your nikons?
  9. Darkroom for hand processing black and white film. The room to the open door is complete dark, to be used for unloading film from the canisters. The second photo is a few cameras I puchased. I really like the Nikon 6006 cameras. I have 4 of them. Never know when you need a backup. The top camera, a Nikon Nikkormat is from about 1974. I want to use this camera, but something in the self timer gearing is stuck, causing the shutter to not function.
  10. Ok, so I have not been on in awhile. I was on vacation a few weeks ago in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Decided to go pawn shop lurking. Ended up buying a blue Fender Squier Bullet guitar. I have always wanted a blue Fender Strat. I know, it is an entry level Squier, but you have to start some where. The strings were rusty, so i found information on Fender's site on replacing string and setting up the action. I never played an instrument before, so I has some learning to do. This is also at the same time I just finished building my darkroom, so I will not really have alot of freetime.
  11. I HEART you guys.........back on the forum for less then 90 minutes and source for two items found.
  12. Tonik. thank you, that is the year range i was looking at at RIck Roush in Medina, had a grey one, but I liked the blue color i seen in the cycle trader. When I get ready so basic questions together i will get them to you, beside the over how do you like yours, how trouble free? what you change on a stock one for better comfort or ridablity?
  13. Glad to be back and re-introduce myself. I been busy living life, nothing Earth shattering. Working on training my 2 year old Alaskan Husky to hopefully become a therapy dog for people in hospice. Those that might recall, I lost my Father to cancer in 2012 and hospice really helped our family. Hoping to repay the favor in the future. Still riding the 1982 GS 850. I did eyeball a Kawasaki Voyager and I think that might be the next bike purchase, since Suzuki does not make a full dress bike that looks like a Goldwing. Thanks, ScottB
  14. sounds like a great trip. Barber's is a great track, Did you get to check out the muesem at barbers? I was able to see a few AMA races at Barber's when it was Mladin and Spies racing. We viewed the races on the back straight, under the shade of the trees.
  15. Gentlemens clubs or try to score some Red Bull girls or umbrella girls....
  16. On a vacation to AZ, I rented a Harley Electra Glide. I thought I would be heavy. Once you are rolling, it is the same as any other motorcycle. I just had to adjust to moving the bike out of a parking space. I was a bit top heavy. The biggest adjustment was the forward shifter / rear brake and making the transition from a stop, when picking up my feet. Once you do that part a few times, it is no big deal.
  17. Interested, sending PM
  18. I am just here for the link to the police impound motorcycle auction. Well maybe a bit too soon.
  19. I had a 2003 Monte, sold it with 185,000 miles on it for $2500 in 2012. Decent car, replaced the front wheel bearings twice. Easy to work on.
  20. I work for a major welding company, Lincoln Electric, in the robotic automation division. I am a tech support toubleshooter. I also provide training for a virtual reality welding training product called Vrtex. So I flew down to Rio for a meeting and meet the Brazil support team. Then Monday, took a flight from Rio to Campinas Brazil. Three days later, hired a driver to take me to Sao Paulo to meet the team there. Traffic reminds me of LA or Atlanta. This was my first international work trip. Normally my travels are US only. When I travel to visit a school or training center, those are usually in decent places. The robotic factories can be in a major city or in exotic places such as Mountain Home, Idaho or Newland, NC, which are two cities that are not near anything. The are two other guys on here that also work in automation with me. Depending on the schedule, you do not always get to become a tourist once the training is done. You get the stress of travel of making sure you make any connecting flights and you hope you can actually find the place you are looking for. Once the training begins, I could be anywhere, that part is mostly the same.
  21. I am currently in Sao Paulo Brazil, more motorcycles here then cars.
  22. Sounds like a great experience. How awesome is the corkscrew turn and the elevation drop? I would like to try the rider school at Barber's in Alabama. I am in my mid 40s and have never been on a track on a motorcycle. I did a few charity donation laps in my street car at Barber's and also VIR. Like most training classes, it seems you get out of it what you put in it.
