  1. PM sent on the DR 200
  2. thank you for the replies, i think it might be a bit small and maybe under powered. ok, back to looking for a dirt bike
  3. As the title says, possibly looking at the Yamaha as my first dirt bike. Needs tires, Ran good before parked ( parked all of 2014) Price $700. I think i want to try riding in the dirt with a decent bike to start out on but not spend too much . I work with the guy selling it, so I can be reasonably sure it is decent. I am 6 foot tall, and read that the seat is 31 inches. Not sure if i would be too big for this bike until I get to see it in person and sit on it. Then, the expense of getting gear for myself. Thoughts?
  4. Speedy, if I can find or make a free weekend, i would be game
  5. So, in my wise old age, it is a case of " choose your battles", Is it better to be right in principle ( bike should of have a clear lane of travel, except for the white car blocking the intersection ) but dead trying to proving a point? Results would have been different if the bike slowed to the intersection blocked by the white car, maybe beeped the horn to get the white car driver to look at him, and maybe Mr heavy right handed bike pilot could have rolled through safely and not got clipped?
  6. Dang, rest in peace rider.
  7. I tuned in and saw the last 20 laps. Close racing, I was pulling for Geoff May to win, If the next few races can be this close, viewership and attendance might increase.
  8. I went the same route, was going to build an AR. Then I figured I should start with functional rifle to have and possibly use as test bed for parts I plan use in a build. I was looking for those same two AR15's the M and P Sport or the new Ruger AR556. I ended up with the Windham SRC. I got a Nikon P223 as a gift, and I added a 6 to 9 inch bipod, and an extend charging handle release.
  9. Very nice Speedy. With the money i saved by not getting that AK in Berea, i will start my build
  10. Speedy, sorry you are blazing that trail solo. I am going to wait a bit before i start my rifle build.
  11. To help determine what would be best, make a list of Pros and Cons. IS this a position you can retire from, or is it entry level? WHat is the 5 year outlook for this position and company? How long of a comute? WHat are the hours and the pay? BEsides the obvious which job pays more, are there other benefits like sick days , personnal time, pizza firdays? Then look at each company, how long have each been open, are these major companys, ? If any of these places are companys you may have dealt with from your other job, how were they to work with? If you know anybody that works there, what do they do and how do they like it? I have been with my company for 20 years. Great place to work, but no paid sick time or pizza fridays. I am hourly, and if I am not work, I do not get paid..
  12. I'll trade you an X-box?.........J/K
  13. i am planning on being at Upper Deck just after 8
  14. I think the movie was very good. Mostly followed the book without too much "over the top" hollywood stuff.
  15. The place we had last year was ok, I will probably bring the wife, and she can be my driver for afterwards.
  16. I have access to a sand blaster, but don't own it. I could probably get them done during the lunch hour, or at least one per lunch hour, depending on how much work they need.
  17. From an article on abandoned america site, http://www.abandonedamerica.us/kohls-motorcycle-salvage Location someplace in New York, indoor salvage, changed owners, ran into tax issues with the city.
  18. Speedy if you dont meet up with Brandon, I can pick it up from him and bring it to you this weekend if we get to to try out the new AR
  19. I suspect I will be building one soon too. Between asking friends, Youtube and AR15.com, the knowledge is out there. I just dont have the baseline from shooting a varity of AR's to know what options I would like. Only a general idea of what I think i want I would like an already completed rifle just to have one now. Then, I can use that as maybe a platform to work from, or install "test parts" onto. I am still learning and reading the different brands, and what makes one brand and price better then the other guy. Looking on Palmetto State Armory site, a complete lower and complete upper can be had for $550. Seems like it would make a decent range toy. Since I live in the burbs, I will only get to shoot this when i go to the outdoor range.
  20. Looking for options on a decent scope for the money. Intended use of the AR will be a range toy, not for hunting or 3 gun. This will be my first AR. I dont think I need a huge giant scope, I read the "how to select a scope" article on Opticsplanet. I dont want to go to cheap and crappy, but i also dont think I need a scope with all the "Tacti-cool" bells and whistles. I am in my early 40's and do wear glasses or contacts. A friend has a sweet Armalite AR with a Nightforce scope. The Nightforce was a great scope but way out of my price range. Still undecided on the AR, possibly the new Ruger AR556, or maybe an entery level Sig Sauer M400 AR budget is $600 - $900 Figure $300- $400 for a scope and rings I looked at a few scopes on OpticsPlant. I think a 3x9 x40 or 4 x 12 x 40 will work for a range toy. Looking at 1. Leupold Rifleman priced at $289 http://www.opticsplanet.com/leupold-rifleman-4-12x40mm-rifle-scope.html 2. Vortex Viper priced at $299 and then $79 for ring mounts http://www.opticsplanet.com/vortex-riflescopes-vpr-m-01p.html 3. Nikon P-223 with mounts priced at $249 http://www.opticsplanet.com/nikon-p-223-3-9x40-bdc-600-rifle-scope.html Any other input?
  21. we can add some lights to it
  22. i think i will get a stripped lower , probably from Palmetto State Armory. I have been reading a bunch on AR15.com so i have some knowledge now of what i think i want. Also, I was thinking of getting the Smith and Wesson sport AR, but now see that Ruger has new AR called the AR556.that looks like a winner to me. The one local gun store I called has them in stock for $619.
  23. Went out to a friends place, nice 120 yard range setup in his backyard. Had a nice bench set up to shoot from. The close range targets were about 50 yards and the farther targets were at about 120 yards. Large dirt mound as a back stop. Started out with the .22LR rifles, then brought out an AR15 and a 30.06 view from behind the bench: half way from the bench to targets Using this Ar, shooting 5.56 and a Night force scope, 120 yards, the "flipper " target is one and a half inches. These flippers were hard to see without the scope, but they are just below the black wooden backstop, below the blue taped area. No idea how much this AR setup was, but this Nightforce scope is the clearest, cleanest view i have ever seen though an optic: The metal flipper target had no chance against this rifle: The hole looked like a drill bit went through it I am not sure how thick the target was, but i was able to stack 3 quaters from my pocket and the target was about that thick. Quater added for reference: No pictures of the 50 yard targets, but had several holes touching with the .22lr rifles.
