Consider myself educated. Thanks. You know, to be honest I don't know what the barrel length is. If you are ever interested in shooting one and want to drive to plain city your welcome to give it a shot. It wont take much convincing to want to get one.

Wait until you shoot one. You will be hooked. For a guy that enjoys .22's as much as you do, there is no doubt you will love one. The gun has the manners of a .22 but with a much higher velocity. I think they are great plinking rounds that can also double as a much more effective varmit killing Round than the .22 They are on sale right now. It has a sticker on it that says $519.00 but are usually always marked at $419.00. This sale now is the common one with all the savages that includes a scope. It is still priced at $419 but includes a piece of shit scope. Basically is no different because that scope deserves to go in the garbage. Mine will go on my boys bb gun. Do yourself a favor and budget a good scope into your buying one of these guns. You will not get half the potential out of one of these without a quality small caliber scope installed. There are a whole line of scopes designed for these rifles alone. Many decent ones arent that expensive either. If you aren't dead set on the thumb hole stock, you can get into a regular synthetic stock with a heavy barrel and a quality scope for a little more than what I have invested in this gun. I'm a huge fan of the regular $299 savages. The exact model doesn't matter much as long as you get a 93 with an accu trigger. Some times Vances will even work with you on upgrading the scope to a good one under the sale.

Okay I just read what I wrote and it occured to me that the vmaxx is all the poly tip rounds. Either way, I thought cci made it. I did know though that they were all one manufacturer. It doesn't really matter which one I guess. Thank you for the heads up.
-
I thought it was just all the vmax line was made by the same manufacture but repackaged but I thought it was cci who made it all.

Well I know there are .17 fans here but no one keyed in on opinions. I couldn't wait any longer and I bought one yesterday. I am done going to Vances until things slow down though. That and I am broke after buying as many guns as I have in the last 16 days. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Guns/IMAG0737.jpg Excuse the shitty pic. This was on sale and included this super shitty scope. I really want to shoot it but I don't want to waste time and ammo sighting this in on with this junk glass on top. So far I only picked up some CCI VMax ammo to try and get a good sight in before I experiment with other ammo. I plan to pick up a Mueller Eraticator to put on top of it. http://media.midwayusa.com/productimages/440x330/primary/167/167265.jpg http://www.midwayusa.com/product/167265/mueller-eraticator-rifle-scope-85-25x-50mm-adjustable-objective-illuminated-dot-reticle-silver?cm_vc=subv1137750 Not the most elaborate scope on the market but I heard only great things about this scope. Other than that the only immediate plans I have for this gun is a bipod. This big issue is that I am out of money. My gun fund is well into the red so sadly, I may not be able to enjoy this rifle for just a little bit. Im still open to any suggestions from .17 lovers.

Thanks for the link, I appreciate your efforts. This prob should be added here http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109128 as this thread has been started already about the same thing.

They did this afternoon. I picked up 2 black ones and so did my brother. They have window mags for $24. Good luck with sale OP. I wish I could be interested but I have spent way too much on guns in the last 12 days.

Video game guns are evil. How do you think we got to this point we are now! It's not bad parenting.
-
I gave all mine away. They will be now be display pieces only since I welded all the functions together. I too see the light.

These are really hard to diagnose over the internet. Especially UA sometimes. If you can't figure it out and need some help, feel free to give us a call. I can talk to my wife and see if we could come out right away. We have a camera as well. You could very well have problems in the lines if they are cast iron. We had one last week that was completely caved in. 614-873-5681 Foust Plumbing and Heating If this is against any advertising rules sorry. Feel free to delete The number and PM me instead.

Be careful, I have some x10 security stuff at our business and some of it is cheesy and seems to be made by playschool in the early 90's. -
I'll buy it. I have cash and just pmed my phone number. Consider it sold.

We should be friends.

I had the chance to get the x2 mags but I don't like them. Is Vances regaining any stock yet? How busy was it?
-
On a side note, since this is a 10/22 info thread, anyone have some favorite .22lr ammo they prefer? I was just getting ready to order atleast 500 rounds and hadn't decided which ones to order. I have always just used the remington that the hardware store has. I still have some remington thunderbolt ammo with a sticker that say .89 cents on the box. I'm starting to get low on surplus though.

X2 as if you didn't read it the first time I said it. I have no prob compensating you for your help as well.

Finally, you are starting to understand

Now you are digging a hole you wont be able to come out of. You are talking about arguably the most important part of your firearm in terms of accurate and consistant long distance shooting along side of the glass mounted on top. Sounds like you need to educate yourself some. No disrespect.

I have been interested in a savage accu trigger .17 for years. Ever since the first time I have shot one, I have wanted to get one. About this time last year I stumbled upon a thumbhole stainless version at Dicks. It got me hooked. I had instantly decided I wanted a thumbhole stock on the .17 that I bought. Since then I have got ahold of my brothers synthetic stock .17. That and the .22 as well as the .223 have held me over as far as varmit rifles around the house and at the farm. A am really itching to get my own again. The issue is, the one I saw at Dicks was green-blueish and gray wood laminated thumbhole stock. When I went to Vances to get one recently, they explained to me that Savage only sells the thumbhole from them with the walnut wood colored stock. This caused me to wait. I just noticed Vances has them on sale this month and I want to buy one. Who made the stock that was on the gun from Dicks? Boyds? Does Boyds make all the thumbhole stocks? I considered buying a non thumbhole for cheaper and just ordering a Boyds stock in the color I wanted. I have heard about Boyds fitment and finish issues.

That would be great. All I own is one 10 round mag for my ruger. I would be thrilled if you would sell me 1 but if you have extras I would love to buy more as well. Please let me know when you find something out.

I see, but is the principal not the same? The point is still valid correct?

My wife just shared this with me from facebook. I just copied and pasted this rather than a link. Anyone know anything about this? San Antonio Theater Shooting "On Sunday December 17, 2012, 2 days after the CT shooting, a man went to a restaurant in San Antonio to kill his X-girlfriend. After he shot her, most of the people in the restaurant fled next door to a theater.... The gunman followed them and entered the theater so he could shoot more people. He started shooting and people in the theater started running and screaming. It’s like the Aurora, CO theater story plus a restaurant! Now aren’t you wondering why this isn’t a lead story in the national media along with the school shooting? There was an off duty county deputy at the theater. SHE pulled out her gun and shot the man 4 times before he had a chance to kill anyone. So since this story makes the point that the best thing to stop a bad person with a gun is a good person with a gun, the media is treating it like it never happened. Only the local media covered it. The city is giving her a medal next week. Just thought you’d like to know. I remain disgusted with the media’s deliberate attempt to whitewash news while at the same time creating their own narrative for whatever sinister reasons." I never heard anything about this.

Hearing it from someone elses mouth just sends shrills up my spine.

I think head porting is too much for a dremmel. I went to harbor freight and bought 15 die grinders at $4.xx a piece and had all my different bits in each one. That way I could constantly change to different bits without actually having to change the bits out of the grinder. And when they do go bad, cause they will, throw them in the trash and forget about it. Go to buckeye carbide for your bits and such.

Want to sell 1 or 2? Lol
