  1. Money. With the rest of the build there was no room to buy another head and then dump $1800 into it. $350 was much easier to swallow for the time being.
  2. Another shitty pic of the rings http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Toys/Hannah/IMAG0619.jpg I would have taken better pics but I forgot until I was about to set the head on. When I started cleaning up the bowls in the head I quickly realized that my valve seats had some cracking. Basically the head is junk. It could last 4 hours, it could last 4 months. I dropped it off to get it resurfaced and oringed anyways. My plan is to get it through 1 season. Next year the plan will be to get a new head and completely build it with orings, stronger port work, mill the intake off and build a runner style plenum. Using a OEM headgasket for the Orings. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Toys/Hannah/IMAG0615.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Toys/Hannah/IMAG0622.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Toys/Hannah/IMAG0621.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Toys/Hannah/IMAG0636.jpg Im going to wait to put the rest of the top end together until I get the cam swapped. The cam will be the next thing to get done which will enable me to get to swap the the timing case out. In the next week or so I am going to go ahead and get the cam and tappets pulled so that I can swap the timing case. I have to do the same thing on the donor truck to be able to remove the timing case from it also.
  3. I have been really busy with kids football, vacation, work, ect. No different than anyone else but I just stuck my truck on the back burner. I don't plan on having it come out until spring anyways. Most of the delay was due to getting the donor truck stripped, parts sold, and getting it out of the shop so I could get back to work on this. I got the head back from the machine shop. Before had a did a little prep to the block before the head stud install. I took a little extra step that is not required and one that not everyone does. This entails bottom tapping the block. In each threaded hole of the block the threads stop a fair distance before the bottom of the hole. Bottom tapping ensures that each stud has more thread contact, fits down in the holes evenly, and allows for no clearance issues with the valve cover. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Toys/Hannah/IMAG0587.jpg Since I dumped some money into the head and already had it off I decided to give it a quick paint job. Not really the color I had hoped for but it will do for now. This head is only temporary anyways. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Toys/Hannah/IMAG0581.jpg While the head was away I decided to take another step with it and have the cylinders o-ringed. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Toys/Hannah/IMAG0618.jpg Shitty pic of the rings.
  4. Have you ever driven a car that runs 10's? Sounds like he might need a clutch and running 10's don't go together. This is your reason. This is my point. Simple. Like I said with a little cash and a little work I agree it is capable. As it sits now I do not. If for some reason it was able to do it, I don't see it being repeatable for sure. This is not a knock on Eric but his seat time at the strip is limited. I think with him driving it will take a bit more practice as well. He respects the car and its capabilities, I see him taking a day to ease into pushing the limits. I also feel that a learning day at the strip on the same clutch only makes my point more valid. Again, the only point I was trying to make was that I don't think in the cars 100% current state I dont think it will net a 10 sec slip. There is no doubt it has the power to though. I mostly was refering to clutch. My knowledge on STI drivetrains are limited so the trans comment was really just suggesting the drivetrain as a whole. Like I said mostly refering to the stock clutch. Plus, I was thinking he just swapped to some pussy street tires. I may be wrong, and I don't really know off hand how those cars act on street rubber under big power. I believe that Eric did make the comment to me that he chose to run the stock clutch as to take it easy on the drivetrain. What is the limit to the axles on these cars anyways?
  5. It was not a question of your ability. My comment was 100% based on the clutch and the trans holding up to a launch that would net a 10 sec et.
  6. His car is in no way a 10 second car. It has 10 second car power for sure. It is fun as Hell to ride in and nicer than most comparable cars on this site. However, without being able to launch it, it will never run 10's. It is however, a freeway beast. I bust his balls about his car all the time but in reality I dig it. Not bashing his car at all. I just think it is a few k away from being able to click of a 10 second time slip. Just because a car has the right HP/weight formula to make it a 10 second ride doesn't mean it will result a 10 second ET. I thought you were supposed to know something about these cars.
  7. Damn, that's it. I hadn't found a link for them going that cheap. It was given To me as a gift but Ive never used it. My phone is just fine. $80 obo
  8. You can buy mine that a just posted for sale here.
  9. I have a 7 premium that is less than a year old and never been used. $80 obo
  10. Don't waste that stuff on Apple pie. Visit tropical isle's website and order some hand grenade mix. For anyone who has spent even the slightest amount of time on bourbon st knows what I'm talking about. All you have to do is add the mix, bottle of everclear, some water, and ice. The recipes online for this stuff don't compare either. Even if you have never had hand grenades before do yourself a favor and order the mix. It's only $10 and makes over a gallon. 4 glasses will have you shitty drunk.
  11. My opinion is it depends on your usage. I justified my snap on because of daily use. If I was just a home owners who tinkers once every 3 months I could swallow using a craftsman. If you are really going to use it, buy a real box (snap on, matco, MAC...). Don't get me wrong, regardless of deal these boxes cost a retarded amount of money but if you follow auctions and Craigslist a box could he had for way too cheap to not go for it. My boxes will still be here in 30 years, will this brand? It's an investment.
  12. It was such a busy summer I definatly lost track of this thread. As far as update, back in May I went on my annual military training with another CR member to Alpena Michigan. We decided to take my fishing boat with us. The base is located on the river flowing into Lake Huron. This is where we spent most of our time fishing and caught the most fish. We did visit a lake nearby that I have pics from. The name was Jack's Pond I believe. I do know that you could see 12+ feet down like you were looking through glass. It was an amazing time fishing on the river. Unfortunatly, I have not had the boat in the water since then. I am itching to go though. I want to catch some small mouth. Here are some pics of a few fish we caught. Most of my pics are of fish he is holding or caught. He might be able to provide more. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Alpena%202012/IMAG0491.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Alpena%202012/IMAG0492.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Alpena%202012/IMAG0486.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Alpena%202012/IMAG0494.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Alpena%202012/IMAG0480.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Alpena%202012/IMAG0473.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Alpena%202012/IMAG0478.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk251/XChris1632X/Alpena%202012/IMAG0481.jpg Obviously some were just bigger than bait fish but thats all of the pictures I had of the catches. I was too busy trying to catch more. We fished a good 8 days out of the 14 we were there. I would say there were only 2 days that we struggles getting good catches. I believe he caught the pike on small Mepps type spinners as well as a few bass. All of my bass was caught on a $'' bright green broken back minnow.
  13. Bring it over, Ill video some runs on the country roads. I can vouch that the car is a fun ride with the fire turned up. We just need to work on the driver mod!
  14. Drive your car to drill so I can fix it in the parking lot again.
  15. Would this work as a good pocket pistol?
  16. Yeah i know. Not really looking to spend that much on a t-5. i too will be going t-56 eventually. If you dont end up selling it for what you want and want to let it go for less, pm me. I will take it for the right price.
  17. how much for just the trans?
  18. I think I have come to the conclusion that there aren't any good seats under $750 for two.
  19. First off, do me a favor and save any negative comments about pitt. I dont give a shit if you dont care for them. Now that we got that out of the way, I have never been to a Steelers game and would love to go. My wife has been wanting to go back to pitt for a long time so I figured this is a perfect opportunity. Usually when I go to events such as this I spend big money for great seats. Right now I dont have the 1k per seat that I spent for Sugar Bowl tickets a couple years ago and I am working off of a $500 budget. I have checked stub hub, ebay, ticket exchange, and seat hound. Anyone have any advice for finding a great deal on tickets? So far I havent found anything that great for $250 a ticket. Any advice on other places to look?
  20. 444-4444 Call me anytime. I promise to fix all your transportation troubles. Sent you a pm
  21. $975 and you can have my saturn. Shanton drove it for a year while he was in between vehicles so he can confirm its dependability. It has two blizzaks on it that have maybe 1k miles. I want this thing gone from behind my barn.
