  1. 12v are cheaper, easy to work on, and break less stuff all because of the lack of electronic parts. They take a lot more to make the same amount of power as a 24v. There is less to go wrong. 24v makes way more power, and you have the adjustability on the fly of different power levels when using a programer like my Edge Comp box. The biggest thing to go wrong on 24v are the fuel systems, mostly the Injection pump and being the most expensive to replace. All three of mine cost about $1,600 a peice. I have unfortunatly been going through one about once a year. Both truck suffer from weak auto trans and some rear ends. I have been through both of those already. With my new Injectors I am on borrowed time with my torque convertor.
  2. My truck passed this the day I put exhaust on it. Scotty2Hotty are you thinking about going to the Urbana pulls on Aug 2nd? I am thinking about pulling again there. The only bad thing is there will be a shit ton of fucking Crank it Up Diesel trucks there. Their little circle jerk, blown out of proportion ring of trucks irritates me. Mainly because of Kyle Michaels and all of his dumb fucking nuttswingers. People think this guy is a god and he isn't. Some of the Crank it up trucks are very respected by me, don't get me wrong but I think the hype is what turns me away.
  3. i think idiots is a strong word, I have seen far more people go to the dragstrip and break far more things than at the truck pulls. Dragstrips are hard on any vehicles but it doesn't stop any of us. I am also trying to better build my truck to hold up to the pulling track.
  4. Union county fair is this week and the truck pulls were tonight. Last year they were in may and I tried for the first time. Right off the line I grenaded the posi in my Dana 70 at 8psi launch. That was three days before I left for basic training, so my truck sat for a very long time. This year I was ready to re-deem myself. I got my 200hp injectors installed and with a fresh posi in the rear was hoping to just make a successful pull. I was figuring on getting about 175 feet because I was trying to be so easy on my truck but I almost shit when I heard them say 272' and 10". I was only running half power since I had my Edge box turned down to step 2. I am still running stock turbo so with the 200hp sticks I have she gets hot quick. I could've ran step 3 maybe but I was briefly at 1400* on my EGT gauge when I let off the throttle at the end. A lot of you might say whatever redneck but I am excited, and I can honestly say this is a rush that has just as much thrill as drag racing. All I want to do now is pull again. It is time for a new turbo, head studs, o rings, and some traction bars.
  5. Sam are you looking at some sort of Riva Performance package or something. I have seen quite a few RXP's like mine with all Riva and they seem to work nicely. I am thinking about getting their intake and blowoff valve. So far though I have yet to be beat by another wave runner. At Indian Lake there are a lot of people who think they have the fastest thing ever made for man on water and they always seem to find me and my girlfriend cruising around. It is always funny for me to see them WOT standing up on the back of it and all hunched down trying to be aerodynamic and I fly by them sitting with a passenger on the back. Although riding two people sucks on mine during a busy weekend. the way the hull is designed it just wants to jump right out of the water a bit too much. My others just cut right through it.
  6. 10:1 says you don't have that car long enough to even change the steering wheel, much less any of the plans you have for the winter. Just kidding but really how does your wife put up with the constant flow of things you aquire and then dispose of? Anyways it looks nice. I think it would look sick if it was a 2" cowl. I'd like to see it in person sometime, I have a sweet spot for that body style.
  7. I had a whole paragraph wrote up as a reply to this statement but the backspace button owned me. I will just let it go. I guess I should just go take my plates off the truck so I won't be begging the authorities to give me tickets.
  8. Do you have any spare aftermarket parts you didn't use or switched from you would want to sell. I have been driving my buddies now for a couple days and it needs some mods very badly. It barely squeels the tires from a stop light.
  9. Doesn't anyone even consider it could be quite incriminating for someone to release their "source". I am quite sure that the person that is supplying Paul with his info wouldn't be fond of him giving out his name, position, or anything of that nature. It doesn't matter how he knows but I am sure it is a lot more accurate than 90% of the people in this thread that thinks they know anything about the situation.
  10. I was reading the columbus dispatch version. I thought it was posted that Linn was involved, yet his name is not on the list? They did however say that someone was picked up down rt 3 but they did not list a name. I wish the best for all tied up in this situation. I know if I had a car together right now, there is a good chance I could've been involved. Really makes me think twice since I have been considering buying some type of LSX car for the past year.
  11. If he gets the off road y-pipe ill put it on. Let me know. I would say get that on, then schedule to have it tuned by John Rutan. If your gonna have the tune moddified for O2 sensors you might as well get a full tune while your at it.
  12. What you or I might consider off roading could very well be different than his moms terms. If she just wants to putt around some trails and little hills, I would just use a damn rental with extra insurance. There are also a good amount of places decently close by to do some little trail riding. I am sure some others can chime in with some more info. On the other hand if you are going to make an event out of it, this may not be the smartest route to take.
  13. Maybe he was just getting oil for another one of his vehicles anyways.
  14. In all honesty some of them really are just as bad, then again I have seen a couple pretty scary fbods.
  15. Thanks Craig for all the help and the phone call. Hopefully I can just get this program to cooperate with me now and get a good tune on.
  16. I would think their would be so many variables at these kind of power levels that you couldn't even state an accurate time. Traction obviously being the biggest variable of them all.
  17. I say you just inform us who the infamous poster is so we can all just laugh at him for being suck a needle dick.
  18. Look around on Camaroz28.com. Quite often you will see entire bag of parts to do the swap for sale. I did it on a 95 Trans Am and it took about a day or so, taking my sweet time and doing everything nicely. The whole thing cost about $1,400.
  19. Ok well I fucked something up. I deal with Cummins and Volvo diesel motors and their programing all day but I have just worked my brain stupid on this. I know I can get familiar with this program. Tonight I installed the DSP5 switch into #49 and #69 pins on the ECU and began to work the EFI Live. I tried my registration and it wouldn't let me out of demo mode to actually conect to the truck so that was stressing me out. Well it started to get dark out and sprinkle a bit so we were going to call it a night. My buddy went to start his truck to drive home and nothing happened. The lights come on, the gauges work, the radio does not work and the fuel pump makes a little queef noise. I am about to loose my mind. Keep in mind I never got EFI to actually conect so I don't see how that could effect it. I even cut the wires to the DSP5 switch so it couldn't make a complete circuit. Now it is stuck in a friends driveway in London. My buddy is stressed out and becomes horrible to deal with because this thing is his pride and joy. I feel like shit because I am the only person he ever trusts to work on his shit since he has zero knowledge about anything automotive. I really don't want to loose his confidence in me and I am worried I did something wrong. Our other friend pays people to work on all of his shit and the whole time is telling him I don't know enough and his truck is going to throw a rod or some shit. I'm stressed out to the max and just want all of this to be over. I have to get this truck running tomorow and I don't know where to begin. I really need help, and infact I am begging for it. I just need someone to personally help get me started on it just to make this right. I am even willing to pay for it. I appoligize for the being so long and I probably sound like a simple minded douche bag but I am desprate. My buddy spent so much time defending me to everyone and explaining to them that I can make his truck something and I feel I am starting to make us both look shamefull. Their expectations are very high and I do usually get a lot of credit from them when I do prove to them I am capable of things they never thought I was, but this is not going that way. I need to relax and normally I would be calm and get things worked out but not with this truck. I would really be gratefull if someone could help me. It is asking a lot but I am willing to make it worth it for someone. If anyone has some time to even spare to call me, I would be overly gratefull. Cell=614-348-7854 anytime is a good time for me right now.
  20. maybe I will get in contact with the ohio division of labor and see what they have to say about my little situation.
  21. Ok well I am in the process of this as we speak. I wired up the DSP5 switch and now I am working with the program. We have 2 03 duramax's sitting here. 1 was professionally tuned and one I am supposed to do. I found a bounch of tunes on a forum but when I talked to the guy who tuned the one duramax he said that you cant just copy stuff because of a different operating system. I want to copy the exact tune out of the truck that had it done and put it into the other. What do I need to do? I see all of these tunes online but I am scared to take anything because the guy from Crank it up who tuned the first truck said the only way he can tune it is if we e-mail him the stock tune because of the operating system. It think this all made sense. I am getting more familiar with this but I am struggling a bit. I know I can do this I am just getting my self nervous and second guessing.
  22. I am going to pick this thing up tomorow from a local place. I have spent the last two days nose deep in these manuals and on the software demo version, just trying to get familiar with is. I can honestly say im nervous. It might just be so much unfamiliar information at one time. Maybe once I get it and can play with it out of demo mode it will be easier. If someone who knows their way around EFI Live wants to meet me for a quick walkthrough of the basics tomorow night or Thurs I will buy dinner. I learn way better hands on and with a person better than anything. Maybe its the retard in me.
  23. This all came about a year or so ago when we had a big meeting and said overtime was being cut. One of our other Mechanics didnt want to loose his hours so he brought up the fact that he knew of a law that exempted mechanics from overtime and that they didn't have to pay us overtime if we wanted to work extra. After a little research by our employer, this went into effect.
  24. Long story short, I am a diesel mechanic and about a year or so ago at my job they came up with a theory that in our profession you can work as many hours as needed and not recieve overtime pay if the employer doesn't want to pay it. Now at first we all thought that meant if we wanted some hours after our 40 that we could have them and just work for straight pay. A couple days ago my boss told some co-workers they needed to start coming in six hours early on wed and if they didn't he was going to change their schedule to make it mandatory. They don't want to come in early and they will only be making straight pay for the extra time. Can anyone verify any of this?
