I was really humbled comparing my times on the PIRC kart track to Gavin's xr100 times. I think he would lap me in a 5 lap race I need to run that more often next year.

Thats awesome. I used to ride an Optima Baron that looked very similar though completely different drive configuration. My homemade tail fairing was not nearly as nice. I really regret selling that bike. Mine looked like this The speed you can get on flat pavement or slight down hills is amazing.

Wow, that is much more interesting than the big bikes. The TV shots on the last lap still showed over 10 bikes in the frame. Hell of a job by Gavin!!

Look up some of Danimal's past posts. He has put a ton of miles on his CSC and put it through far more than most would ever consider doing. Based on his experiences I would say its a really good value.

I started off the season with 3 really good running backs. I'm down to 1 now. Plus I had Andrew Luck as my first QB drafted (auto draft). Needless to say I happy with how well I have done so far. I guessing AB with have a rebound game. The ratbirds see him so often they try to scheme him out of the game.

Found out you can ride a bike with 5th gear only On the commute home, went to down shift for a light and realized I no longer had a shift lever. With no tools on the bike (stupid mistake) I was stuck in fifth gear. Made it home about 20 miles of suburban roads with much clutch slipping and only a couple stalls. The clutch cable required a small adjustment afterwards but otherwise it appears to be good. I will make sure to clean the threads and use thread locker when I install the new shifter.

It's not the good roads I'm worried about, it's the highway and gas stops. Your rig goes days between stops, I can't usually ride 2 hours without gas Ofcourse I think your "spare" tank could fill my tank up twice.

But last year we had a StreetTriple with his luggage in a back pack and a couple 2 up on a Ninja 650. There were others who were looking for a rest break or gas every couple hours. You guys all have done IronButts for fun One of these years I get a more appropriate bike, though probably something in the adventure category like a Vstrom or African Twin. I think that will have to be a +1 though, I'm enjoying throwing around the light bike too much. The Kart track was nearly as much fun as the Dragon with much less danger.

Noone else wants to do this? This was a fun trip with lots of great roads and good company last year. I expect more of the same this year. I'm getting a little worried I'm going to be holding up this trip. The other riders on the trip are big mileage riders with high speed, long range machines. I'm on basically a dirt bike.

Going to try a drop bar Mountainbike (Salsa Fargo like). I had the bars and brake calipers off of a different. Picked up an inexpensive SRAM 10speed briffter and matching left brake lever. Also upgraded the front disc to 180mm. Between my weight and the size and grip of the fat bike I needed a little more braking. Hope to give the rig a try at West Branch this afternoon.

I road urban roads for a commute for years and used tough tires like gatorskins and they really did make a difference in the number of flats. However they dont eliminate the problem, especially from tube failures, installation failures and pinch flats. Now that I ride more for fun and avoid the urban roads I much prefer lightweight tires. The improvement in comfort and speed is noticeable. And I don't change tube much more often than I did before. So unless you have a real good reason to get puncture resistant tires, like picking up glass on a weekly basis or a regular commute, I would recommend just carrying the repair kit and enjoy the ride. PittRace near Beaver PA. It is just over an hour on the Turnpike for me. About 1.5 hrs from Cleveland. I believe G & J Kartway near Dayton and Circleville Raceway south of Columbus also allow bikes to run. The kart tracks are inexpensive and have minimal tech requirements. With the slow top speeds accidents are not nearly as dangerous as the big track. I rode my bike to the track. Removed the mirrors paid $30 and started riding. I think the other tracks are even cheaper. 16 turns in .82 miles gives a good workout

Took her to the kart track I can't believe there are not more bikes here. $30 and I had the track completely to myself for 2 hours. I could have ridden for another 2 hours alternating every 10 min. I am slow at the track and it is hard work but it was fun working alot of tight corners. That is a great track. Watched the bikes on the big track for awhile. Still amazed how fast the track day bikes run.

I'm liking what I see so far, but Sunday is going to be a tough day on the sumo. I have over 200 miles of slab from Ripley to get home But I don't want to skip the curves to get there because the last thing I want is more slab. I better make sure to pack the Advil and find plenty of caffeine.

That looks less effective and secure than an disc lock, though less likely to be forgotten and cause you to break something. Unfortunately for dirt bikes, scooters and performance motorcycles the most common theft is just picking up the bike and putting it in a truck or on a trailer. 2 guys can easily load a dirt bike into a pickup, even is the front wheel is locked. The best security if not in a locked garage is chaining the bike to something solid with a good chain and lock. Cables are next best and disc locks with alarms can be effective in some situations. Have good insurance and avoid leaving your bike unattended in questionable places is going to usually be the most convenient answer.

We usually by new because the wife is very particular about which car she wants. However then we keep it for 10 years or so, so the amortized cost isn't really that bad and she gets what she wants. The car I drive is a 20 yr old beater. For me cars are basic transportation, I'd rather save the money for bicycles and motorcycles

$45k for a Chevy is easy. Pickups, full-sized SUVs, Corvette, Camaro, SS all hit >$45k pretty easily for MSRP. Same is true for nearly any auto maker these days $45k for a family sedan does seem rich. Thats why those buyers are looking at crossovers like the Equinox and Traverse instead.
