  1. This. I really dislike the paperwork, but it's very nice to have the end result. Very nice buy. Congrats.
  2. FYI, that's good to know 75th Anniversary Celebrations On Sunday, August 8, 1937 some 33 people interested in the study, preservation and collection of firearms responded to an invitation by the late Miller C. Bedford to meet at his home in New London, Ohio. The enthusiasm from this initial informal gathering was such that a need to formally organize was recognized and thus was born The Ohio Gun Collectors Association. This organization, celebrating its Seventy-fifth Anniversary during 2012, is now the largest association of gun collectors not only in the United States but the world with a current membership of almost 17,000! Members and their invited guests are invited to join us throughout the year as we celebrate our 75th Anniversary. Representing the true spirit of the hobby are the thousands of members who have brought educational displays and display-only pieces over 75 years.
  3. Almost all GOV sites are geared toward it. It's the only thing you can have installed on work computers, so I would say it is mandated.
  4. I like to cuddle while watching movies, but only if I'm big spoon. Anyone.....?
  5. This is a topic that has a lot of angles. Are you looking to get into the sport of hunting and fishing, or are you looking to be a better capable outdoorsman? Do you just want to go out for a few hours and try to get some sort of game, or are you looking to gain knowledge where you could out for a few days and have no issue surviving off what's out there? Shooting or fishing, then cleaning and cooking are easy enough. Making shelter, having a water source or making one, and then staying warm with out burning the forest down are all things in themself. The first book I ever read about this stuff when I was growing up was this, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Side_of_the_Mountain It was a quick easy read but there are many basic and simple outdoors skills, and it's a neat story too. For the adult approach you can't go wrong with this, http://www.amazon.com/Soldier-Handbook-21-76-Ranger-February/dp/147520096X/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1357155011&sr=8-4&keywords=ranger+handbook If you look hard enough you can find it free in PDF out there. I'm just limited on what I can search and get from my work computer. There are some well rounded outdoorsman on this site. See if someone will go for a walk in the woods with you. I would offer, but I never have the free time when I'm in town.

    NRA Coach

I'm a NRA Instructor for CCW. As for getting your certification, the hardest part to work with is the NRA and the people teaching the course. I would not go through someplace that was not local to you. If anyone is in the Lima area, that group is who I went through and they messed up my paperwork miserably. This resulted in months of waiting and constantly chasing them to fix the messed up info they submitting to the NRA. I was sent someone elses credentials and I still do not have the class info and packet I paid for. I have spent most of today fixing problems to be able to log on to my NRA instructor account. You have to take the Basic Instructor class before you can take any instructor classes. Most classes I saw had that included.
  7. Ryan, the Shield is out there a bit in 9mm. If you aren't looking for the .40, you should be able to get the shield. I'll keep an eye out for you.

    New toy.

There isn't much of an after market for it that I have seen yet. It's a hunting rifle with no bad reviews. I have not shot a better rifle for the money, or seen one out there. The 30 06 is very available and so is the ammo. The .308's are a little hard to come by.Vance's is selling them at $379 and that is marked up quite a bit from the $309 I have seen in other places. Here's my write up. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107167&highlight=Ruger+American
  10. Was drinking Boosted Goose at the house last night.
  11. I have a new trigger to get familiar with, that sounds fine to me. I will be in the Columbus area on the 2nd this week, but all of next week. PM me and let me know what works for you.
  12. Interesting note. Good to know.
  13. Yours is an A1 model as you stated.
  14. Evolution of the M16/M4 I call it the Mr. Potato Head of weapons. If you bought anything that looks close to this, it is an AR. They can call it whatever they want, M4 styling on the civilian market is still an AR. The M4 selector lever has Safe, Semi, and Burst. I would not call "Burst" full auto.
  15. For the Subaru, same here. For the RX7, ABS and power steering have been removed.
  16. I travel a bit and I'll keep an eye out. Any hints to if she ran away or not?
  17. Thanks to everyone who did their class with MDS. I hope you had as much fun as I did. You guys made the best of bad weather and a shooting area we don't plan on using again. MJ had me worried a bit with not feeling well, but it sounds like our on site medic help out. Eric and I can only hope to have every class full of people that are enthused and fun like you guys were. Thanks again and feel free to PM with with any questions and ill help as best I can.
  18. I have a pair Danners that I've been pretty happy with. They are light, keep my feet warm and have last forever with no issues. Columbia make a good boot, as MJ said. Sorels, Maderhorns, and tactical research are all worth looking into as well. Good luck
  19. As aways, a well written and informed post copperhead, thanks. I'm a member to a couple there, but did not know of the others. I started a letter to my represntitive last night and will be proofing it today to email. Dicks and CTD are off my list of places to buy from.
  20. More info on member benefits please.
  21. Briar Rabbit is where I like to shoot. It's out by Zanesville, but there have a ton of area to shoot on.
  22. My lady talked with a buddy that works at Vances, she got me a crossbow with all the gear. Pretty damn happy with it.
  23. Never have had to add oil to either Subie here.
