  1. Do you realize it's only about 50hp at 8000rpm? I'm blown away by the number of folks who never exceed that. Guy survived 3000+ miles on the street and you think he's gonna eat shit as soon as he gets on a supersport? I know you guys hate this dude for whatever internet reasons, but it seems like you're more interested in belittling him than protecting him. Side note: closest I ever came to wrecking on the street was on a Derbi 50 (actually it was bored to 72). Up to that point I had never ridden anything smaller than a 600. It all came down to respect.

    X2

Somebody needs to start a thread with all the rules, typical mods and potential participants for this class. My interest is piqued. I did the mini roadracing thing with an XR50 and did not have fun, but if these things are big enough to be rideable...
  3. Sounds like the moral of the story is: buy something japanese, or be prepared to deal with the "character."
  4. First time I went there was 2002 because my neighbor gave me free tickets (probably the year of that photo on Soup). I was instantly hooked and, in addition to becoming a superfan of the series in general, went back every year until about 09. (I know I went to that debacle of a Daytona race in 09, only because I happened to be there for Supercross - can't remember if I went to Midohio that year or not). I usually have some friends call me up with tickets, I usually tell them to let me know if they set up the jumbotrons again, otherwise I'd just as soon watch it in my livingroom if at all. It's just not the same anymore. Something has changed, probably just the sum of alot of little things. While it will be sad to see another great thing go, it's almost just as sad to watch it linger on as a shell of its former self.

    Diagnose my car

Does it sound like it's running on 3 cylinders or 4? You may have broken a rod, oil starvation will do it if that was really an issue. I've had the piston hang in the top of the bore clear of total catastrophe before. At least until I knocked it down into the crankcase with a 3/8 extension through the spark plug hole and told the guy he'd better not try to start it again.
  6. Interesting choice. Should be fun, don't know much about those cars good or bad. Out of curiosity how many miles on that one?
  7. Well then, bring it on over! (the cleaner thingy, NOT the chair)
  8. Anyhow, RHill: it does cost more to do it that way. That bike in particular you would need bodywork, clipons and rearsets at minimum, with nothing to recoup costs. If you started with an undamaged streetbike, I would recommend the same, but at least you could sell the stock parts. The newer the model of bike, the more those parts are worth.
  9. In general (not this bike in particular), how much damage could your average no-talent crotch-rocket superstar do to a bike in 3000 miles without the use of tools? On the other hand, give a monkey a wrench and he'll fuck shit up real quick.
  10. The type of cupping I am talking about that would actually cause a wobble should be rather obviously visible.
  11. I'm gonna go against popular opinion and say I'd rather start with a cosmetically damaged street bike. At 2666 miles, I would hope the original owner didn't even change the oil. I have trust issues with anybody wrenching on my stuff but me.
  12. You should unload and secure your firearm before setting off the alarm.
  13. Sounds a bit low to me if you have hopes of your front tire staying round for 5000+ miles.
  14. I bet that tire is cupped out. What do you normally run for pressure?

    Browns

I thought a 2pt try was the obvious choice at 15-10, then I realized that I had no faith in the offense either. Then I started daydreaming about just leaving the defense on the field to take the snaps and how that could possibly work out.

    love it!

I've got a 250F I never ride if you want to start with that...
  17. Track day guys? Starboyz used to sell 'em.
  18. Nothing made by Pontiac is worth $5500 with 200k on it. GTO sounded OK. Then I read the description and I agree with "neither."
  19. Perfect timing - straight outta the parking lot and as drunk as they're gonna be all day.
  20. I can't wheelie for shit, but I think if you aspire too, you ought to get used to using the rear brake. One of my favorite quotes from a friend: "That thing got a rear brake? Here - hold my beer."
