  1. Very cool! I want to go check out their air force someday: http://www.slideshare.net/halffast/aviation-toys-in-the-red-bull-hangar
  2. Sounds like nerve - happened to me as well getting my IV for surgery & took a couple days to resolve.
  3. Wondering that as well. You'd think that would be on a preflight checklist somewhere, no? FYI it's also on Discovery channel if anyone has a slow connection.
  4. Hehe, reminds me of the early 17th century when I was in high school. My buddy Todd and his family were big into mx racing. After Honda's V4s hit the market, dad bought a VF500 for the kids to ride, and a VF1000R for himself. We all thought the VF500 was pretty badass, but one day Todd showed up at school with the 1kR. Said he almost killed himself a few times on the way in, then almost finished himself off on the way out of the parking lot trying to launch into hyperspace. Guessing it was exciting when he got home; he ended up driving the rest of the year. I've wanted a 1kR ever since...
  5. Brief PSA for Columbus area MTBers; I happened to see this thread about vandalism on P1 & not sure if everyone who rides there watches the CAMBA forum: http://www.joinomba.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=20947
  6. Maybe the masks are to let them use an intercom or handheld? If they're going to Oshkosh they need to give 'er the whip, it starts tomorrow; it'll be over before they get there.
  7. I prefer riding off road for a few reasons, but the convenience factor of a road bike is definitely higher, unless you're close enough to a trail to ride to the trailhead. Lots of good bike specific advise here - biggest thing is make sure you get one that fits! If you check out the CAMBA forums, occasionally you'll find something in your size for a great deal. http://camba.us/wp/ There's also a trail map for the state on the site. Regarding places to go off-road, there's now an ~8mi trail system in the Strongsville Metroparks at Royalview (by 130th & 82). It still has hills, but it's much less technical, and has less steep ups/downs than the others in the area such as Reagan Park in Medina, so it's a great trail to start MTB riding on. CAMBA runs a beginner's group ride on Tuesday nights at 630. If you're somewhere near 5'8"ish, I have a basic MTB I can throw together if you want to try the MTB thing.
  8. It's a pretty nice little museum. See if you can get into the restoration hangar - there's an F100 & B-26 in there. Very cool stuff. Make sure you drop some cash in one of the donation boxes - that's what keeps all these things going!!
  9. I'll go with that. I believe you over random internet dudes, all things considered . My 500 already had the holeshot kit when I got it back in the dark ages so it wasn't an issue. We sure hijacked the hell out of Ryan's for sale thread, though . Hope whoever gets this beast has fun with it.
  10. I remember reading somewhere the oiling issue was all sizes thru 86, including the uber-beast 1000R with cam gears; something regarding heat treating of the cams being too soft (?) Porter do you remember someone linking an old article on VFRWorld several years ago? Since I'm already getting lined up for some cool Ti hardware in my back, this lump would probably paralyze me just getting it onto the centerstand right now. Otherwise I'd be dragging it home.
  11. +1 keep it!! I made the stupid decision to sell my VFR, partly due to the time thing. Even though I physically can't ride right now, still a mistake on my part. Should have just left it on the stands & battery tender.
  12. Glad he was found OK!!
  13. Wow, talk about the ME generation and the complete lack of respect for others....I was brought up to respect other people, and we did our stupid stuff out of earshot to avoid pissing people off. I don't mind noise during the day (other than bar bikes with dipshit owners), but my kids are both light sleepers, as am I. This is not the RR track/airport argument; those are necessary for commerce and safety. This is people who don't care about anything other than themselves. Also, eventually one of them will crash. As I found out, few things are more disruptive than to have some drunk punk roll his car at 3 am while fartcan racing (in a development/25 speed limit, of course), then have a helo land across the street from your house to cart his passenger off to the trauma center. But hey, as long as they have fun...
  14. EMS and police aircraft coordinate with ATC constantly. They'll do what they can to work it out.
  15. Gah, can't get to FB in the gulag here. I'll vote when I get home.
  16. Brother in law's looking for a sales gig right now. Check PMs!

    Got pulled over

Less raging on forums, more studying English. So you want him to do his job, but you wish death upon him for doing his job? I'm confused .
  18. The prez/R&D hangar is on base, not the main museum.
  19. Just checked our job board (SW General Hospital); there's a night shift 1/2 time help desk opening, nothing FT though. Not sure if the hospital IT environment would interest you, but you may want to shoot an app to Elyria, St Johns, etc. I work on the clinical appilcations side which is far less techy (basically try to work with start content to make them work with our facility, demonstrate how processes that worked well in 1964 aren't so good any more, and talk Drs/RNs down from destroying hardware when the system doesn't work how they want ). Follow Blosser's internal networking advice!! I've seen a few support guys promoted once they showed that they were interested, got involved, and met requirements. I've also seen one who had a 4year and certs, but acted like a tard, whined about being overqualified, treated clinical apps analysts and end users like crap, etc. get passed over repeatedly for promotions.
  20. When I was there at Christmas, they seem to have changed it so you only get an hour over there (unless you can drive on base your self), then they did a sweep & had everybody get back on the bus.
  21. That one's pretty good!!! Never did get the straight pipe thing myself, just reminds me of the South Park Harley episode. One of them just rode by, doing 5-10 under the speed limit, rattled the china cabinet, and almost put his bike onto the tree lawn at 5mph going around the corner ... With all the whackos, NIMBYs and fear mongerers looking to legislate away that last bit of freedom we have, a bit of common sense and consideration can help. That goes for both sides, obviously, don't move next to an airport or RR track that's been there for 50 years and bitch about the noise...
  22. Get there early & sign up to take the tour to the Presidential and R&D hangars. They have the 707 that carried Kennedy's body back from Dallas, plus several other AF1 variants, an X15, XB70, and other things you'll probably never see anywhere else. If you're into the restoration side of things, there's a tour of the resto shops, where they're currently restoring the original Memphis Belle among other things. You have to sign up well in advance for that tour, though.
  23. Plus, in keeping with fmr Emperor Daley's war on freedom and General Aviation, they're trumpeting a new, better, safer-for-dignitaries 'Shoot to Kill' TFR. Way to ramp up the fear mongering, tards. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2012/05/02/no-fly-zone-to-be-enforced-by-shoot-to-kill-order-during-nato-summit/ (Note - nothing in any way new in the language of flight restrictions from the past ten years, just media hysteria as usual)
