  1. I love you to death Rick and have nothing personal against HD'S but. Talking about spliting a engine at 45k miles to rebuild and replace hard parts and talking that it's just what you have to do with said make. Then coming on a forum and blasting another manufacturers bikes just sounds flipping insane to me. My bike has almost 45k on it and I plan on going at least 55k more before I would even think to worry about internal parts. Hell Dan puts 111k plus on a 650 v twin sport bike engine that never in a million years would have been design for such mileage all with out touching the internal s (minus a valve adjustment). I have nothing against HD and I think they are beautiful bikes and it's all a style thing and personal preference. Keep in mind you pulled the trigger first on this debate by saying our bikes won't last as long. And I agree there are garage queens with all makes and I'll also agree that you have to maintain your ride. But where I disagree is mile per mile a HD bike can not hold its ground on reliability to most other makes with out major mechanical upkeep. And if you start talking dollars and cents they aren't even on the same planet.
  2. I work with a bunch of Harley guys, on A beautiful day it looks like a HD dealer in our parking lot. And I'm willing to bet my bike has more miles on it than the other 8 to 10 combined and there are a couple older than mine. Minus one guys, hes a rider year round and a true rider but even his at around 60k miles had to have the engine cracked open for repairs once already. I know guys on Jap bikes with 100k and never touched the internals. You just don't know the right people to talk of real miles on some bikes.
  3. Because 90% either don't get ridden or only do 10 mile round trips to the bar on the weekends. Most dont ride thiers like you do Rick.
  4. That reminds me of the time my Internet wasn't working and TWC'S automated phone help line refereed me to the trouble shooting guide on their web site. I was like WHAT?
  5. I never have to think about if im going to this, it's a must every year. Never a dull moment.
  6. The Tourmaster pants came today and the fit is good. The length and waist are perfect a little baggy in the thigh and ass but us fat guys with no ass are used to that. Seem well made and has venting in the thigh area and some nice deep pockets. Only thing i can say that i dont like is there is a snap instead of a hook and buckle on thr waist. I'm pretty happy with them, obviously I can't comment on the performance or durability but I have high hopes.
  7. All I know me and the Mrs. have never fought over money, hard times as well as good. We have a common goal in life to get to and are working together to get there. The words mine, yours, hers, his never happen it's always ours or we. Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones, or maybe we are the misfits in this fucked up world. My parents did it this way for 47 years and the inlaws did it that way for 42 years and marital problems were never a problem. And I read that story it says nothing about shared finances being the cause, it just say money and finances are the leading cause. Maybe....... it's because most couple are untrusting of each other with money and that leads to the problems. Maybe of they shared more it would have helped. Every thing is subject to interpretation
  8. I just bought 10 chances of putting on my own hookers and blow party.
  9. You would break my heart, now i wish i had a separate account.
  10. I have personally never understood the whole "her money" "his money" separate bank account thing. Like Jim said above, we are partners for life and have one checking and savings account, both our names are on all the bills and we make decisions together. For the ones that are already planning ahead for your divorce i don't even know how to respond to that other than . Me and the Mrs. have been together for 22 years and married for 18 of those years. For the the first 20 year i always made more than her for a while it was substantially more, she went back to school and worked hard to get a degree and i worked hard to keep our heads above water and now she now has a career and make more money than me and that will continue to be more every year. So both our checks go into the joint account every other week and i sit down and pay the bills that are due. If she needs or wants somthing she get it, if i need or want something i get it if it is a high dollar purchase we make a joint decision.
  11. The value we put was below acual value and it didn't matter they used what ever book value they found on them. I can't remember the acual numbers but let's say mine was worth $4k and his was worth $6k, I ended up paying taxes on the $2k difference and I think he had to pay thr taxes on the other $4k Or other way around I can't remember
  12. Me and Pokey traded motorcycles and put it on the title that it was a even trade. We got the letters in the mail and we filled them out acording to the even trade. Long story short we ended up paying the taxes on difgerence in price what they said said they were worth. So we kinda got fucked.
  13. I was in the rear anyway, WAY behind so no worries anyway. .lol
  14. Think Casper should start charging Bad for sponsorship staus.
  15. Yea I didnt think of that, i keep bait traps around my garage year round. Critters like to build nest up in bike parts and chew on wires.
  16. Wash it, plug into tender and have it ready to roll at a moments notice if there is a out of the blue warm day. Ive never used sabilizer, never let air out of tire, never parked on wood, never removed battery and never had any issues in 20 years. Your parking it for a few months not years. All that other crap is nonsense.
  17. Ok I'm bailing on the areostitch and sending them back, for multiple reasons. Are they nice? Yes. Would I buy them later at full price? possibly. At full price I think you get exactly what you pay for not overpriced not a bargain. I contacted riders discount about a pair of the tour master over pant and the price they gave me just cannot be beat. My reasons are this. Although I liked the areostitch a lot, by the time I get the correct size and the extra pads I want they are really twice my original budget. I currently have a tourmaster jacket and the pants zip onto and go with it perfectly The tour master pants zip down from the top of the leg for venting the A.S. did not. Still kind of upset the A.S. are made in Vietnam(not a deal breaker but it was on my mind) And I've been debating loosing some weight with the wife this year and if I do I don't want to be stuck with a $350 pair of pants I couldn't wear anymore. And the T.M. pants are a third the price. So the tourmaster are ordered and I hope they fit. If I get at least 2 years out of them I'll be happy.
  18. Then i guess my local jeweler that has done it for a living for 40 years is wrong. Just conveying what he told me a several years ago and that was before 2014, it was prob 10 years ago he told me that. Not saying your wrong just saying someone has passed bad info somewhere, after all he is crazy old man..lol.
  19. Does it have the Tuning fork on the face some where? Bulova had two grades the grade with the tuning fork on the face is their signature line, while the ones with out are supposedly their seconds or slightly imperfects. They make all models in both series lines. Although 98% of the people out there wouldn't know the difference if it weren't for the tuning fork. Think I have one of each
  20. Last time I made it maybe 13 or so years ago we used a dehydrator. My Grandmother was cleaning out her chest freezer and had damn near a quarter beef worth of cubed and round steak she needed to get rid of so we turned most of it in to jerky. Made a marinade of woshishire and liquid smoke with some other seasonings and soaked it over night, cut them into strips an ran them through a roller tenderizer. Salted them fairly well with some cracked pepper and used 2 little round dehydrators that we picked up at biglots(think I still have one of them) I bet it took most of the week to do it all, in the end we had like 10lbs of jerky. I was a pain in the ass and I wouldn't want to do it again but it was some pretty damn good jerky. I was only pain because of the quantity we had and our dryers were just too small, but it worked.
  21. Reading the original post about not liking the feel of a metal band. I am quite the oposite I hate the feel of a plastic band. Most wouldn't call it a beater watch but I've been rocking my citizen eco drive for many years and I wear it everywhere for everyrhing. I have beat the hell out of this thing and it still looks great. I'll wear it working on cars, riding offroad, hiking, swiming, snorkeling, ect, I'll take a tooth brush to it about once a month and clean it up.
