  1. Sweet, that increases the likelihood of me going by a lot. I'm assuming there'll be pre-meet ups posted as we get closer. I'm about 1 hr north of Lodi, so count me in with the Akron group.
  2. *scratches head* It didn't have a safety?
  3. Before, I was riding with earbuds under my helmet. The wires were always a pain in the butt. A guy at work (who rides a Ducati Diavel) recommended I check out the LG bluetooth earbuds - the kind that have a ring that sits around the neck. I found some from www.nexlus.com for $34. They're the LG HBS-730. There were some mixed reviews... the HBS-730 seems to have better sound quality than the HBS-700, but can experience frequent drop-outs of signal. I figured I'd give them a shot. My coworker told me that I would just need to tuck in the around-the-neck part under my jacket so they don't get blown away. I got them last night (I ordered them on August 8, 5 days prior) and wore them in to work this morning. They work great! I just tucked the earbuds in, stuck my helmet on, made sure the neck part was safely under my jacket collar, and had 0 problems. Now, the music controls are on the ring part, so they were out of reach, but I use a Pebble wrist watch as a remote, and that fits around the handlebars. I don't like to play my music on my ride until I'm on the highway... On city streets, I need to hear more. With my earbuds, the right tended to drop out mid-ride, usually, but both of the little rubber earbuds on the LG headset grabbed pretty well and neither came out on the ride. They do a great job of sound isolation, too. Just thought I'd share... If your phone has bluetooth and you want to listen to music while you ride, $34 is a pretty cheap solution. http://nexlus.com/index.php/electronics/lg-electronics-tone-hbs-730-bluetooth-headset-retail-packaging-black.html
  4. Looks like a good deal for someone. GLWS.
  5. Fairings, and the ability to WOT while keeping both wheels planted for stability
  6. And if we order a shirt and then can't make it to the ride?
  7. I just saw so much heartache when I was in the Navy. People who were getting ready to deploy when their wives had just had babies 3 days ago. Or were due in three days. Or whose kid was 2 and needed a mother or father as they enter second grade. Or as a teenager. I found myself thinking "that is not good parenting." And if you think about it, it's NOT good parenting to be completely absent for 6 months at a time (in the case of an overseas deployment). Heaven forbid you're on a sub, and don't even get to make phone calls & send e-mails daily. And this is only talking about the absence. It's infinitely worse when you realize that some military parents aren't just ABSENT, they're actually putting themselves in harm's way (often on purpose, intentionally) as part of their duties. But of course, it's crazy to expect people to serve without getting married or having kids. We need to remember (and KNOW!) what we were fighting for, after all.
  8. welcome aboard! We have an "Epic Ride" coming up this fall, and you'll find out about the smaller ones in good time.
  9. We need to meet at that dairy queen that's closer for the NE Ohio people
  10. I routinely hit 90 on my morning commute to work, when I have a clear line of sight and there are no cars around. I'm usually more than happy to just coast back down to a reasonable speed before catching up to traffic. I think I hit 120 on my last YZF, although I'm not sure. I like having a heavy bike... Makes for good stability at 90 mph
  11. mt yzf is safe, but I'd better check what's on the Ninja

    OR Decals

TY, order placed! I ordered 6 OR stickers, 2 each of 3 colors, but I tossed in some "watch out for motorcycles" stickers just so I wouldn't have a freebie cart
  13. I rode my yzf600r to work today for the first time... It was a little rainy & wet this morning, so I was just taking it easy... new bike, damp roads, etc. I was just cruising in the left lane, behind some traffic, and naturally I got passed by........ A Buell Blast, hahahaha.
  14. I'm free that day, so count me as a "yes." I'm none too thrilled about the 3 hour slab to get there, though. If anyone else is coming from NE Ohio and rides down, that'd make it more tolerable. I'll PM you about an XL shirt. I'll be in the slow group... and since you said to sign up for one group slower than we THINK we ride, I'll have to sign up for the group that arrives 15 minutes late, BSes in the parking lot for an hour, rides for 1 hour, gets a "bite to eat" for 3, rides for one more, and meets the fast riders for THEIR end-of-day meal
  15. I may or may not have a P.O.S. that fires .22 SHORTS! Ha!
  16. Hey, *I* didn't buy a supersport just to look cool! I bought a Sport-Touring bike to look cool!
  17. I defer to a lot of OR for riding skill, but I'm a QA Engineer! Sounds like you'll have plenty of beta testers, though... Since it obviously has to do with riding
  18. Actually, I think Motorcycle riding is selfish. I owe it to my wife to live as long as possible and be as healthy as possible, and riding simply increases the chance that shit will happen. Then again, EVERYthing is a calculated risk. Like getting cancer from smoking. Some people think that soldiers, sailors, & marines shouldn't be allowed to be married. After all, how can you give two conflicting oaths? One saying you're willing to die for your country, and the other saying you'll do everything you can do to have a successful & healthy marriage?
  19. They generally need a little more evidence than an accusation in order to arrest someone.
  20. Nice, a chance to ride the FZ-07 and FZ-09.
