  1. I think I'm free that day... I'd be able to meet up with you on the ride down, somewhere between Mansfield and Ashland. This'll be just like the LAST epic ride I attended, where I'd just gotten the OTHER yzf600, and the bike will still be too "new" to me to be very fast... I'll be taking it slow and easy in the back, but I'd still love to come if things work out.
  2. welcome aboard! How do you like your ZZR600? I strongly considered one but went with a yzf600 instead... From what I hear, they're very similar bikes.
  3. I'm a sucker for technology and gadgets, but yeah, I think part of why I enjoy riding so much is that I can't even so much as look at my watch. Whatever time it is, it is. Whatever e-mails I'm getting... They'll just have to wait. Nothing exists but the ride
  4. And they'll all make twice as much as they would've, otherwise, now.
  5. Congrats! I strongly considered an sv650s.
  6. LOL, did you do the your/you're thing on purpose? Because now he can say you're only half right!
  7. Lol thanks. The final purchase happened exactly 1 month after I emailed him the first time. I had to wait for him to realize no one would pay him what he was asking, so that he'd lower the price
  8. Thanks guys! They have a new pair of Battlax's on them, from when he bought the bike in April. He DID ride it to Myrtle Beach, SC, so I guess they're not new anymore, but I'll give them a good inspection before riding on them. (Battlax's are generally considered a good tire, yes?) I took myself to the Ohio BMV today to transfer the title, and get it registered and plated... I got my request: "O7CAT" of course All said and done, I paid about $300 more, yuck. (I was honest about the price, so I got hit on taxes... ever since I got a letter from the Ohio Treasury Dept after a purchase, I decided not to lie about prices paid!) And naturally, it rained all day today and will rain tomorrow, too, so I can't ride I should probably go on a little familiarization ride in a parking lot before taking it to work, anyway.
  9. And then upgrade by buying my Ninja 500
  10. I'm new here. What's a drop leg platform?
  11. That's a big loss.... He made a lot of people laugh, myself included.
  12. Wrong corner of the state for me
  13. There are lots of relevant details that most people don't know. I read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liebeck_v._McDonald's_Restaurants and I feel her lawsuit had merit. The amount she was awarded was decided by a jury(and based on McDonald's coffee sales). She started off asking for a very reasonable amount, and it's obvious she was seriously affected by the burn. (Skin grafts, serious weight loss from her hospital stay, and it was an old lady). The car didn't have cup holders, and she was stopped, and she was a passenger. The cup deformed. Didn't help that she was an old lady and was wearing sweatpants.
  14. this is like buying a bigger bike to be a faster rider Whereas a trip to the track would increase speed, familiarity with his existing weapon would make him far more prepared to stop someone than a new gun will.
  15. That's WAY beyond my mechanical ability
  16. Thanks... Already on there! And I found a new Cat last night, so it looks like I'll actually belong, over there
  17. Well this thread can be closed, I bought another YZF600R today. I'll post about it elsewhere. http://ohioriders.net/index.php?/topic/105686-picked-up-another-yzf600r-today/
  18. Rode it back home earlier today. 2007 w/ about 7K miles. $2,600. Light scratches on the right side, but hard to see from a few feet away. Yoshimura exhaust. Blue I'm pleased as punch... I remember my last YZF600R as being a fantastic bike. Bulletproof engine, great bikes, ergos that cannot be beat, and I'm a fan of the full fairings. I don't need (or want) a track bike for the street, and I don't need (or want) to be the fastest thing on two wheels. This'll just be a little more comfortable than the NInja 500 for my daily commute. It took me a month of hanging around & e-mailing this dude from Athens, Ohio... It was originally on Craigslist for $4,000... We emailed, and first it was well, 3600 is the lowest I can go, then 3400, etc etc. The price was never "right" for me, so I just moved on. Eventually I revisited his e-mail, checked in, etc etc. He said he be re-listing it for 3K, and I offered 2500. He countered at 2600 and I accepted. Then we went through a weird week where communication sucked, etc... I got in touch again, eventually, then found the bike on eBay (reserve not yet met), and suggested we meet this Sunday. We did, and it was a done deal. yay! I forgot to bring a plate, and may or may not have had insurance when I rode home, so I just followed my wife home nice & calm and didn't even open it up at all. Gonna get it insured tomorrow, and hopefully registered, titled, & plated ASAP If you know of anyone who wants to buy a Ninja 500, send them my way
  19. Woot! PM sent and thanks! It'll be my second ORDN shirt! I got one from Nivin at an Epic Ride a few years back
  20. You can use a soldering iron to burn the wood, but it's neither accurate nor neat.
  21. Not cancelled, just... rescheduled To a day when I can make it
  22. Did anyone else tweet you with "first" before I did?
  23. The larger the contact patch, the easier it is for your tire to track the surface and not lose traction. A very small contact patch only takes a very small imperfection to break that contact. A larger contact patch can read the road and tolerate more interruptions without a total loss of contact/traction/grip.
  24. Whoah, stop right there. Indy car drivers have a "wing," sure, but for a very different reason. The "Wing" actually provides DOWNforce to press the car INTO the pavement. This is so that air doesn't get under the car and cause a loss of control. At high speeds, air underneath your car, lifting it off the ground, is a bad thing Traction is based on friction, and friction is increased with weight. As to the DEGREE of increase, I'll leave that to smarter minds.
