I probably have spent a little more on this than if I had just purchased a ready made 500-590 series gun set up like mine is now. It just didn't seem like they had the right combination of features I wanted. The extra cash was worth being able to mix and match parts so I could have it my way. And the extra bonus that if I ever want to take the gun back out in the field for a day of clays or hunting, I can swap the old parts back on in about 35 minutes.

So as an update, I got the light for my shotgun. Looks mean and works like a champ. Got the Streamlight TLR-1s and an aluminum tri-rail mount. And a closeup. I am sure most peoples next question is how does it look when turned on. I set the camera on manual so both images are at exactly the same exposure. The camera and light are side by side 14 feet from the wall. You can see the shadow at the ceiling from the mag tube getting in the way but until I buy the remote pressure pad for the light it will be good enough. The best part of keeping it this way though is you just loosen it up and it latches right down on the XD without having to change anything.

Yep, roughly 4k empty 30-06 cases on the middle shelf. The lower one has probably 2k .303 brit rounds. All the pistol stuff is still in cardboard box's on the floor. I am probably going to have to get another piece of that shelving from lowes so I can have one dedicated to pistol brass, one to rifle brass and then the last one for all the supplies.

Dillon is certainly the best out there but the shit certainly caries the Ferrari style price tag also. I purchased a Lee Loadmaster 5 station progressive press. I can currently load 9mm, .357Sig, 40S&W, and 45acp. I was able to afford 4 calibers and everything you see in this first picture along with making the bench and buying the light for roughly the same as a low end Dillon progressive in just one caliber. Currently have about 3k rounds through the press and other than a couple initial problems chalked up to the learning curve I have no problems doing 200-300 rounds an hour. Here is a shot zoomed back so you can see the entire bench with my RCBS single stage on the end along with the scale, tumbler and other stuff. Then if you turn around, here are two shots of the supply shelves (please excuse the messy condition, it's organized chaos).

My 10/22 has the plastic trigger housing, I wasn't fond of it to start either as it didn't have a good feel to it. I spent half the afternoon one day inside that thing with some jewelers files, honing stones and some emery paper. It has got to be 5-10 times better feeling. You get all the darn mold lines and sharp edges off the plastic and then even so slightly refit and debur the internal parts. It's still not a target grade trigger but it is tons better than factory. Now I don't have to wait 5,000 rounds for it to have that nice broken in feeling.

The only place I went to today was out for lunch and to the gun store. People are generally much nicer and well behaved when just about everyone is carrying a handgun.
-
That's actually a pretty cool place to mount the thing. I would imagine you are using a regular piece of velcro to hold it in? I tried all kinds of silliness to have it mounted on the outside of the helmet and nothing temporary would deal with the wind at highway speed.

Figured out how to record while it is plugged in. You hold the record button while you plug in the power cord. Once it turns on and the led's stop flashing you can then go ahead and press the record button as normal and it will film while plugged into the charger.
-
I got mine from dealextreme and it was the model I linked to. As for recording while plugged in, nope. I tried both plugged into the computer and also just plugged into a wall charger and it won't record while plugged in.

http://www.dealextreme.com/p/300k-pixel-mini-camcorder-spy-camera-with-tf-card-slot-32022 You can get them all over fleebay and several other places also. Most right around the same price. Most don't come with a micro-sd card so plan for that also.

I save about half on loading 40cal, we are just loading fmj but for plinking ammo it works just fine. 45ACP there is not as much savings, maybe only save 25 cents on the dollar for them. 357sig is the big winner, we load that for $9 per 50 when the same is selling for $30 at the gun store. I also load rare stuff, .303 brit, 7.65 Argentine, and my 30-06 ammo for the garands. Those three all cost roughly half to 1/4 of what new ammo runs for. Check out this website to see how long it will take to pay back the initial outlay of cash on the press and all your reloading supplies versus just buying factory ammo. http://10xshooters.com/calculators/Handgun_Reloading_Cost_Calculator.htm

I have a very similar one that I think I paid 12 or 14 for. They work pretty well but find they are very sensitive to vibration and the low light clarity suffers. For the price though, they are not bad little cameras.

I started out on a Rcbs Junior single stage. It's a great machine to learn reloading on as there are less things to pay attention to on each stroke. It also makes for very nice accurate loads. I upgraded to a Lee progressive press last spring for the pistol stuff. Still use the Rcbs press for my rifle loading and load buildup for pistols as it is easier to set up and make small changes versus the progressive.

I would be interested in 1k of something in 7.5 shot for clays. If the prices are good and the timing hits me while I have some cash I may spring for 2K.

Yep, but if he cuts the helmet buckle strap the joke is on him cause it's useless. The jacket I'm sure it could be done. I have never tried to cut a 2 inch wide double layer waist strap on a coat. It's the same as if the bike had a helmet lock, they are just as vulnerable. I still want to make it a little harder on the scumbag though and rather than buy a lock from a motorcycle shop, gun locks work really nicely. My hope is to keep the simple minded from just walking past and snatching up my gear. Anybody that is truly determined will take it regardless.
-
I have one of my gun locks under the seat on both the motorcycles. The Triumph doesn't have helmet locks and in either case I can use the gun lock to chain both the helmet and my coat to the bike when I leave it parked. The small diameter cable on the pistol locks fits nicely through the buckles on both the helmet and my jacket. That and the fact I think it would give some scumbag a little pause when he see's the Smith & Wesson, Ruger or Springfield XD logos on the lock and realizes the owner may be armed.

From down towards the bottom of the page, I added the bold;

Glad it rode good on the way home. Now fit that thing with some clean plugs, an air filter and oil change and it is good to go.

You could also look at one of the short barreled coach gun side by side shotguns like the Stoeger or several others out there. If you can take the barrels off easy they will pack down to whatever piece is longer, the barrel or the stock.
-
Look for something like a Winchester Model 12 shotgun. I am sure they are not cheap but they are a quick breakdown shotgun. You can remove the barrel and pump assembly as one piece and them reassemble the whole gun in less than a minute http://youtu.be/Tgd9JDFoYJA

Not to turn you off the 590 because it's an awesome shotgun but I just converted my 500 into a very similar version of what they are looking at. I have roughly $300 into making it into the above gun. 20" barrel, 7+1 capacity and the six position stock. Doesn't require any cutting and can be put back to it's former wood shod 28" setup in under 30 minutes if you ever wanted to take it back out hunting.

Just to clarify, I am much more a Jessica Alba fan.:leghump: I think Alba is the much sexier milf, but Simpson was on the same website and I know they had good pictures. Besides, I just thing you guys are haters cause your not the one that turned her from this into what she is now.
