  1. Depends on handgun and level of filth. Anywhere from 15-60 minutes.
  2. I recommend the 2 3/4" rounds personally also. The recoil on a 3" round in a light weight shotgun is enough to hurt the shooter. I was shooting 3", 12 pellet 00buck from my Mossy and it was recoiling harder than any gun I own. I have some honest cannon grade rifles and found the recoil very unpleasant. Edit, found the box. It was 12 pellet, not 15.
  3. http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot3.htm Please read this also. It even goes into distances, shot pattern and spread along with how ineffective birdshot and even shot up towards #6 shot is against anything. If you haven't seen that site before, read it. There are hours worth of real world testing with pistols, shotguns and rifles and most of it is very eye opening if not just plain cool.
  4. If Cheney could survive getting blasted by a friend with birdshot. What makes you think it will stop a criminal?
  5. Well, that's true also. I knew of the difference between city and state but wasn't aware of the non-reciprocity to other states. I have not been to New York in the last 10 years so it wasn't much of a concern for me. I usually do my research right before and have even printed the rules to take with me when I have decided to carry in other states.
  6. The other thing you guys are not mentioning is the very legal difference between New York state and New York the city. The laws change very much once crossing into the city. This is the other problem with current concealed carry law. Not only do you need to know the laws for the state you are going into but also every city and municipality that may have countermanding laws on the books. That poor fellow may have been well within his legal right to carry anywhere else in New York state, just not anywhere in New York city.
  7. Ok, so I shot these two a few years back. Ruger MkII 6 inch target model at 10 yards. I was doing ammo testing so I was after groups and not center hits yet. The Eley target grouped into 1/2 inch for 4 shots, the 5th opened it up to an inch. Next one is my best with the RWS ammo. Same deal with 4 into about an inch and the 5th opening to 1.5 inches. Man I wish I still had the time for competitive shooting.
  8. I don't know. Some of the features he detracts points for are non-issues for me. Having a grip safety for one. I have two handguns with them and 5 without and have never had a problem switching between the two styles. The second is country of origin. What does it matter if the gun is made outside the USA. We all know there are several guns made in the USA that aren't worth the zinc they are cast from. If you use the left half of the chart just as a reference guide for size, ammo capacity and general features I think it is fine. The scoring part can really just be done away with.
  9. I use Adblockplus in Firefox. It does not make you anonymous. It will however cut down on the number of ads displayed to you.

I ate at one of them in Robbinsville earlier this year almost every morning when I was down in NC to ride the Dragon.
  11. Gotta agree with the others. The GTI was an awesome car for handling and speed and I loved the style of it. I had a 2001 GTI VR6 fully loaded with every option VW had and it was a good thing that I got the extended warranty with it. That car was down for warranty repairs 18 times in the five years I owned it. Everything from broken swaybar and suspension parts to failed engine computers and throttle bodies. Blew the front wheel bearings twice in that car. When you have your only vehicle towed to the dealer 4 times in less than two years it gets old very fast. Sold it when the warranty was up due to the age of the car, it only had 65,000 miles.
  12. This is the general concept of what I am doing to mine. The scope rail is already on the gun and the muzzle brake is on order. I still need to buy the Eotech and actually have the gun shortened up. That Shuff's Parkerizing still does the mag fed garand conversions. http://shuffsparkerizing.com/services/mag-fed-garand/mag-fed-garand/
  13. In situations that you can't run the wires inside the wall you can always use the stick on paintable stuff. http://www.21st-century-goods.com/categories/Flat-Wire/Flat-Wire/ You just stick it to the wall, mud over it to hide the edges and then repaint the wall.
  14. I have one of the Gander mountain Timber Ridge branded Liberty safes. It's based on the Colonial 23 series. Mine is the 45 minute rated 80,000BTU safe. Comes with the floor predrilled for anchors and the back wall has the pass-through in it for electrical wiring. It's rated as 565lbs empty so it is a little lighter than some options but it is anchored into the floor with 4 very big fasteners. It's rated at 25 long guns but it does truly start to get crowded before that point. I have 14 in it and you have to be very careful to keep from rubbing them together getting guns in and out. New they list for roughly $1300, I got mine as a two year old floor demo model for $850 plus delivery.
  15. If I remember correctly, that gun was done by Warbird Custom Guns. I was looking at getting mine done by Shuff's Parkerizing. He makes the custom tankers and also does the 308 conversion so they hold an M1A box mag.
  16. I already have 2 garands. I am keeping my match grade one pristine and converting my post war gun to the scout rifle style.
  17. My wish list is currently in the works. Taking an M1 Garand and shorten the barrel by 8 inches. Add a muzzle brake and a forward mounted picatinny rail with Eotech sight. Kinda like the Socom 16 from Springfield just based on a Garand in .30-06
  18. Agreed with above. 100 Ohm is the magic number. Keep that the same and things are good. A .5 watt resister can only dissipate .5 watts worth of heat. The 1 watt can dissipate more heat without damage. It will physically be larger to deal with the extra power and the wire leads will most likely be thicker. In the case of the wattage always use the spec part or one higher, but never go the other way as it may overheat and burn out.
  19. I love having the clip versus magazine discussion with people. Then I pull out guns that take only clips, ones that use either clips or mags, and the guns that only use mags.
  20. This ^. The dragon was cool but the Cherohola skyway was much more enjoyable. I am certainly no racer but the dragon gets old immediately after you get stuck behind a wagon train of cruisers going 15-20 mph. On Cherohola there are actual passing zones and enough scenic pull offs that you can get away from slower/faster riders. We also hit a section of US421 called The Snake. Just as awesome of a road.
  21. Ok, sorry guys. As being an aircraft mechanic for the last 15 years I can tell you one of the most dangerous things in my career field is a spinning prop. Mechanics and ground personnel walk into them more often than you would imagine. The biggest problem is that when a prop is spinning they are almost invisible. Even when the engine is at idle speed they are hard to see, especially from the rear where they are painted a solid flat black color. The front of the blades are usually a light grey with white stripes towards the tips to break up the image and make them more visible but they are still not easy to see. That is why anybody properly trained always walks behind a prop aircraft when possible to get from one side to the other. It may be windy but you avoid the dangerous bits.
