Agreed with the comments so far on the plasma sets. On the other hand I have the 50" plasma Panasonic TH-50PZ800U and love it. The picture is fantastic, black and color reproduction in movies can't be beat except for the most high end led sets. Until the last year or so I would have argued you could not beat the plasmas for picture quality but I think these days the full backlit led sets are just as good and for the lack of screen burn they may even be better. That said, mine has been going strong for 3 years now with no issues and I would probably have to think long and hard before moving away from the plasma format. I am kinda intrigued by the specs on that Panasonic you linked to because for it still being a 50" screen like mine, it weighs 30 pounds less and draws over 300 watts less power. They did something inside the chassis over the last few years to make it lighter and more efficient. My only faults with the plasma are the following. It uses a lot of power compared to an lcd or led set. Mine is rated to max out at over 600watts and on a very bright white screen the ammeter I have in the power conditioner reflects that. Heat, that 600watts from above makes plenty of heat. It actually has three fans across the top of the tv to make sure the electronics and the screen stay cool enough. When you walk up to the tv after it has been on for a few hours, that end of the room is noticeably warmer. Screen burn, yep it happens. I have the pixel orbiter on mine and the screen wipe features just like the modern sets do. It still does it. You fall asleep watching the History channel and 6 hours later you wake up to change the channel and that stupid "H" is burned in the corner. Gaming can be done but you have to follow the same precaution as with tv logo's, limit screen time to 1-2 hours at a shot. I had my pc hooked to the plasma for a while and loved playing Crysis and Call of Duty on it. Ammo/health counters and your crosshairs are stationary. They burn in very nicely. As for cables, unless the store you buy the tv at is giving them away for close to free don't get them. www.Monoprice.com or www.optimization-world.com They both have cables for way less then Best-buy and it is good stuff.

Makes drag racing easier. You just keep your feet on the track until your sure the bike isn't going to pitch you off the back.

So as an aircraft mechanic that offers a whole new look into rotor flight dynamics I was more impressed with the lack of rotor flex and the minimal inputs required in flight for an RC machine and the perfect placement/balance of the camera to allow it to still fly. I wish somebody would try that with a full size heli, that would be much more impressive. The optical illusion in flight wasn't as interesting as it is a result of the harmonics caused by the frame rate difference versus rotor speed.

It's not just a Harley problem, all air cooled bikes run hot. My Ducati has a 1000cc aircooled twin in it. Normal summer time engine oil temps while moving are 220-240F, sitting at a light after idling around in traffic it will hit 260F and the highest I have seen it before shutting the thing off was 290F while stuck behind an accident. Now Ducati says you can let it go clear up to 310 before the gauge changes to the overheat warning but I am not willing to endure that torture. Granted that is oil temp inside the motor but if the inside is at those temps I would imaging the outside is trying it's best to be at those temps also. Oh, my pants have never caught fire (even when at 290F). Even if you wanted to claim it is from the exhaust being close to the leg. The rear header where it exits the motor on my bike sits only 5 inches from the inside of my left leg and has no heat shield. Still no pants on fire. It seems as if something else may be afoot. As for people that claim burn degree ratings. From the National Health Institute. First-degree burns affect only the outer layer of the skin. They cause pain, redness, and swelling. Second-degree (partial thickness) burns affect both the outer and underlying layer of skin. They cause pain, redness, swelling, and blistering. Third-degree (full thickness) burns extend into deeper tissues. They cause white or blackened, charred skin that may be numb. Most people that claim third degree burns really have never dealt with that kind of pain, I have permanent scars from what was only considered a second degree burn. Not to say the guys in this thread that have mentioned being burned haven't experienced third degree burns but most people think a bad sun burn equates a third degree burn.

I have an Asus netbook also. One of the older 8.5 inch screen EeePC models, 2 years old I purchased as a refurb unit. Works great, battery is holding up good on it. I would have no problem looking at one of the bigger laptop models if I was in the market.

I have done this drill before with my Garand and it's a tough time to hit anything. Your sights are on their side so everything is off, you have to really know your rifles zero to turn elevation into windage. Then you get hot brass coming back down on top of you. Keeping your concentration gets very hard when you are taking burns to your neck. One day I am going to have to get an AR again so I can do stuff like this. An 8 shot rifle with high recoil doesn't lend itself well to either high speed or sustained fire. Best I can do for aimed fire is about 1 round every 2 seconds. Though I do have to say most of my friends where amazed at how fast a Garand can be reloaded. I can usually beat all but the most proficient AR guys when it comes to a reload. (I don't have to take a mag out, just insert more ammo:D ) I didn't get a chance to watch all the videos yet but I wanted to make a quick suggestion as for a fun training drill I had done at a shoot once (hopefully not covered yet:cool:). Each shooter needs to sacrifice an old t-shirt for it but it makes for an interesting stage. Take a standard IDPA head and torso target and dress it in the shirt. Then shoot the stage for score as usual without being able to see your scoring rings (any distance is fine). It adds a level of realism as you need to understand that the proper aiming points on the human body can be distorted by the cloths that are being worn. A proper upper torso shot is actually just below the collar line on a shirt. Almost everybody started shooting very low as normal training with paper or even with silhouette targets teaches you to aim for the center of your target. In a real life situation you need to actually center your shots much higher on the body, centering your shots on the persons shirt will give you lower torso/gut shots that are not as effective. -

I had a panel mount styled one on my Honda. Last time I drag raced was back in 2000, 85 Honda vf1000f. Pulled a couple good times around 12s/110mph. Wasn't bad for a bone stock 15 year old overweight bike with skinny tires and close to 25k miles on it. I still want to take my Duc down the track one of these days. Just need to figure out how to get that kill switch on it without hacking up the wiring.

I have an 06 sprint, it's hard to tell from the vids but one other thing to check on yours is the nuts for the exhaust. I have seen it on my Sprint and also my buddies speed triple that the nuts that hold the exhaust to the heads come loose. It's quick and easy to check once the fairing is off and my save you digging as far in as the cams. -
I had thought about this but already have 3 Enfields that I can't afford ammo for right now. Come on folks, somebody needs to buy his gun. He ain't kidding when he says it's one of the best bolt action rifles going. Once you have shot an Enfield you are going to think all others are rough and clunky. If his is anything like mine, they are a dream to use. And just remember, if you put an original stock back on it you can get really big bayonets for them.

Geez man, sorry to hear of your loss. As for your stance on the issue, you don't need a helmet when your head is that far buried in the sand. I would imagine you have never been personally involved in a wreck. Sorry to say but when you are finally involved in an accident I will not be placing wagers on the survival rate. I have crashed three motorcycles (1 street, 2 dirt) and I was wearing helmets for all of them. This doesn't even come close to how many times I have crashed 3 and 4-wheelers when I was younger and eaten dirt from the landing. In all three cases of crashing the motorcycles I hit face/head first with full face helmets on. Not only has my neck never been broken but I also still have my nose, teeth and skin. The accident with my streetbike was a '76 cb750 that I highsided mid turn at about 50. I was unconscious from the impact for over 2 minutes while laying in the middle of the road. I wish I still had the helmet I was wearing at the time. It was plain to see from the road rash on one side and the rubber marks on the other (from the bike hitting my head as it tumbled) I would have never survived the impact without it. That was the one and only time in my life I have ridden in an ambulance and I ended up spending the rest of the day being checked at the hospital. The worst injuries (other than the concussion) I had where to my legs as I was not wearing protective pants to go with my helmet, gloves, boots and coat. Me personally, I will continue to wear my gear and preach safety to new and old riders alike as it has saved my life now on at least 3 occasions. As I do with other opinionated people with no chance of changing their minds I will gladly respect your opinions if you wish, but will neither ride with you or wave to people without gear on the road (regardless of what bike they are riding).

What do you mean by it won't do anything else. Are you left with a courser on a black screen, does it go to the windows splash but hangs? Gotta agreed with JRMMii, from the limited info and not being there to see it. It sounds like either the hard drive kicked or a ram issue. I haven't seen a vid card cause windows boot issues, most of the ones I have had fail are hard fails and you don't even see the bios load. For cbrbrent, if you are running win xp and getting a BSOD go to this website and look up the error message you are getting. It is a full list of the codes used by MS and it a good place to start troubleshooting. http://aumha.org/a/stop.htm Just as a related funny.

I let guys on cruisers pass me all the time when I ride my Duc. Glad it wasn't me though as I would have spent my time laughing in stead of trying to catch you. Your generous offer to be bear bait so I don't get a ticket is appreciated.

The Termi full system comes with a TI can that looks better than the stock muffler setup. Only adds another $2500 or so to the price. If it sounds anything like the Termi's on my Sportclassic it would be worth every penny just for the sound it makes.

Hopefully they will have the demo bikes next year and the multi is one of them. I don't think Ducati came through town this year. I have talked with a few guys that own them and they all love them. I just can't get past the price tag on the thing yet.

That's cool, I had done a full frame off on mine and split the cases. It needed a timing chain and a new mid-case gasket so the entire thing came out and apart. If I still had my book I would have offered to send it to you. I ended up giving it to the guy that bought the bike. Like others have said, the internals are relatively simple. Certainly compared to a modern bike there is less to go wrong. I wasn't aware of that Hondatech website and if you can get a PDF copy of the factory manual for free that is way better that 20-30 bucks for the Haynes book. -

Buy the Haynes manual. http://www.haynes.com/products/productID/521. The biggest thing I can remember when doing the motor on mine was to make sure you build the shim stack for the starter motor correctly. I had mine in wrong and the starter would not disengage. First time I started it and reved it past 5 grand the starter exploded inside it's body. It didn't damage anything else but buying another starter and tearing the whole thing apart again wasn't fun. -

Not to make light of things and glad to see you made it out in one piece. I ride that road all the time and from the looks of the spot you went down it is a notorious spot for all the locals guys. The road is always filled with stone in that corner due to the pair of driveways right there. From the direction you where coming from you also can't see it due to the rise in the road. And like you said, going wide doesn't help either due to the poor condition of the pavement. Headley's mill is rapidly turning into a speed limit only street due to the lack of maintenance by the local municipality. You have to also watch down at the other end by the golf course as there are some potholes forming that are big enough to cave in a rim on a bike.

Favorites; Luger P-08 Springfield 1911 Ruger MKII I have several others I own and enjoy but one or more of those three will always be at the range with me. Least favorite; Beretta Neos; sold it, horrible trigger. Glock; I have shot the 40cal (never owned one), darn accurate and nice trigger. I just don't like the grips and the feel of it.

I have one of those on my Duc, they do a really nice job of cleaning up the tail of the bike. Radiantz makes them, not sure what the new ones are selling for but I remember they had all kinds of cool LED lighting stuff.
