Running the snake is code for chasing the dragon, right?
-
Logic tells me this would have to be to/beyond the speeds where the gyroscopic effect of the wheels ( rotating mass ) outweigh the bike's mass, no?
-
I think your biggest issue is that the python lowracer design is more like recumbents, so a much lower COG. If you chop the upper frame and drop/recline the seating position more...it should be easier. Edit - Nevermind, I failed to catch the beginning where you show a makeshift stop on the one side of the wheel. Thought you were just fighting to upright the bike.

This^^^ And upsetting the bikes geometry by chucking it in on a late apex all the time will likely bite back at some point, especially on street surfaces. Not saying it cant be mastered, just that it isn't the tried and true methods you'll be taught by pros, so probably isn't a good habit. Both orgs I've done trackdays with have used identical methods, as well as most of what I've read from other orgs. Pick your entry point, brake down and settle in easy while getting into position and maintaining corner speed, all in one smooth action. The less bucking around you do, the smoother you'll be and the faster you'll become. That's the MO I've learned from it all anyway.

@2talltim Not sure what spec tires you are running, but I've read with bigger tourers like the K1600, it's almost a must to run the A-spec versions that accommodate 750+ pound bikes. They're cast with a more rigid carcass that supposed to tolerate heft. I thought we'd discussed somewhere here where I was considering A-spec Angels for my Sprint last spring since it would exceed 750 with me on it, I know Tpoppa was in on the convo.....I ended up going with standard GTs and haven't had any wear issues yet at 3k miles. Just a thought

@Casper are you guys planning on staying at the same cabin group as last year, across from the parking lot at the bottom of the hill on Welch Rd?

I bought a Colman 55A/T wheeled cooler last year. Took it to the Gap trip and after 3 full days, there was still ice in it. Think I spent $80ish on it at Walmart.

I find value is relative depending on wants/needs. Your utilitarian mindset isn't a bad thing, just a different point of view is all. I've not owned a TH yet, but I've been researching/planning for a couple years now. Seems to me that the bigger haulers ( TT's or 5'ers with separate garage space ) appear to be fairly accommodating and still allow you to sleep with bikes locked away inside instead of possibly asphyxiating from fumes all night because they're strapped down inside the living quarters, or waking up to find they've been stolen because you had to park them outside overnight. Don't get me wrong, TH's are a luxury - that's a given.....but compared to utility trailers, they save you the hassles of paying/reserving hotel, save the added expense of dining out most every meal, allow you to travel at your own leasure ( no check in/out times to adhere to ). Sure, they're cumbersome and can be relatively expensive to own/maintain depending on how big and luxurious you go - but I think it would be nice to have some sort of a home away from home anytime you want to pack up and go somewhere to ride/relax. Overall, an expense I don't mind paying to add elements of fun and convenience to our life's travels. Once I dive into ownership I may discover it was a ludicrous venture, but I wont know that for sure until I experience it for myself. Wife's on board with the idea, and we're pretty good at enabling one another....so why not?

This is my ultimate plan for the wife and I. Get a toyhauler to tote the bikes out west, see the sights, ride Pikes Peak and some other prime riding locales, take in our bucketlist trackdays at Miller/Laguna Seca/COTA.

unOFFICIAL OR Spring Epic Ride 2017 - May 20, 2017

You're not lying! It can prove to be stressful when the group is that big. It bugs me when the line stretches out of sight between stops, or I make a wrong turn, or I drop my bike at a stop, or I make wrong turn, or half of the group stops unannounced because someone went down, or I make a wrong turn. In my defense, I have managed a few perfect rides when we based out of Logan with the same original route, only because I remembered from repitition. I hope to get a 660 Zumo soon so I can upload the routes in advance and alleviate the "wrong way" nickname I've earned myself -

Forgot to mention the wife and I got our certs last month, so it's a go. Will be interesting for me on my supermoto. I'll have to remember to stay inside on the exits since I wont be busting 150 on that back straight anymore LOL. Be fun anyway. Now to get these legs of mine back in the game! Hope more can join this thing and get a strong OR presence... @o-no-moto @DUBIE @oldschoolsdime92 @adamz_78 @granda080 -

Done deal. He's one fierce little racer. Good luck to him! -
