How about Noon? I have about a 40 min ride out there so if I leave at 11, it should be warm enough by then.
-
Sounds good man. I can meet there as well. What time are you thinking? Not really wanting to go all that early since it'll still be pretty cold in the morning...
-
I'd definitely be up for this as well. I've got a buddy that offered to take me to my first track day but he wouldn't be in my group, so it would be nice to get to know some people within my same track skills, which, is none. I'll follow this thread and definitely try to meet you guys when the season opens!

What up fellas! It may be January but we're looking at 57 degrees and sunny tomorrow. I didn't winterize my bike just yet - if anyone is looking to get out tomorrow, let me know. I have the whole day off of work and could really use a ride...no matter how long or short and no matter where we go. Let me know if you're interested!

^ Thanks for posting that picture, I appreciate it! And yes, it's definitely a nice helmet. I took great care of it so hopefully someone will snatch it up.
-
Hey fellas: Ad says it all since I can't post pictures here for some reason. Let me know if you have any questions! http://columbus.craigslist.org/mcy/2791467553.html

On your Scorpion, is that with the shield lock in place? I really don't want to have to constantly lock and unlock that stupid thing - I like to raise and lower the shield when sitting in traffic or whatever.

Picture of your motorcycles....POST EM' UP

^ Most places around here limit you to buying 1 or 2 six packs. The Giant Eagle on 161 near 71 let me buy as many cases as I wanted, but at $48.99 a case, I only bought one. Needless to say, that case lasted me for close to a month.
-
Besides the Giant Eagle tip, Cincy is your next closest place. The Party Source gets in 60 cases a week down there. Good thing I have a girlfriend that travels for work

Yeah, I looked at some of those videos and read through their reviews as well. Kinda spent a couple hours doing that last night, lol. The review of the Scorpion turned out pretty well. Their only gripe about that helmet is the shield can lift up if not locked in place (a little difficult to toggle the lock with gloves on). Other than that, they gave that helmet a great review.

Well my Shoei was my first "real" helmet and I didn't bother to research and try stuff on like I'm doing now. I couldn't even get the small to pull down on the top of my head so the medium was the choice to go with. Me and my weird shaped head...
-
Right, which, it didn't. And trying to exchange it at Iron Pony wasn't happening. I didn't try to return it...I tried exchanging it for the small but they considered it a special order and wouldn't do it for me. So, I was stuck. Lesson learned I guess.
-
If any wind gets underneath my Shoei, it bounces around like crazy. The small felt way too tight and the medium was snug, but slightly loose. I should have gotten the small in the first place but Iron Pony is SWEET and wouldn't let me exchange since the helmet was worn once and considered a "special order." Which, is a whole other tangent I could go off on since they were just currently out of stock in my size so they had to order one for me but whatever. That was several years ago so it's null and void. But, I felt like the Scorpion fit my head better so I just didn't think I'd have that bounce issue. Hmmm...
-
Oh terrific. I consider my Shoei to bounce around a lot but I always thought it only did that because it was too big for my head and it didn't fit right. That Scorpion fit a lot better than my Shoei so I didn't think I would get that bounciness. Crap.
-
That's is more along the lines of what I'm looking to know. I honestly didn't notice the chin. If it catches in the wind, does it make the helmet bounce all over the place? That could really deter me from getting that helmet. Maybe I should go try on the Scorpion 700/750. Iron Pony kind of has the Scorpion models scattered all over the place so I don't remember seeing those specific lines but I'll go back and look. As far as Arai - honestly, because of price, I'm not even looking in that direction. Maybe one day I'll own one, but now isn't the time.

Yes, I did try the Shoei (the Sever II is a badass helmet) today and I just don't have any comfort in those things. I have a smaller, oval shaped, narrow head and the Shoei seems to have a larger crown on the inside and doesn't have near the comfort of the padding inside that the Bell and Scorpion does. The Bell absolutely fit perfectly and the Scorpion was a very close second. But $200 in difference is basically the only thing holding me back. I've read countless reviews on both and both seem like great helmets. The only thing I've noticed that people complain about with the Scorpion is wind noise but I use a bluetooth system and play music at all times. I've gotta say, after reading for the past few hours on both of these helmets, I am inching more towards the Scorpion. Plus I also thought about how banged up visors get with bugs or if cars/trucks fling up rocks. My current shield isn't too bad but I really don't want to drop $120 on one of those photochromatic shields and have it destroyed at some point and risk having to buy another. The Scorpion looks as though it might have a slight edge to it.
-
Yeah, I looked for some reviews and only found something about Bell. I know I shouldn't buy based on graphics but stuff like that does appeal to me. Plus, it's not like the Scorpion didn't fit well. It felt great compared to my Shoei. My Shoei is about 4-5 years old, pads are broken down and it's always been a heavy helmet imo. Kinda ready to give it up since it's so uncomfortable on long rides. That Bell definitely was a nice helmet but $400 compared to the $220 that the Scorpion was is definitely a huge factor as well.
-
So, I'm up for a new helmet and completely torn. I've narrowed it down to the Bell RS-1 and the Scorpion EXO 500. Here's the pro's and con's: Bell pro's - I only want to get this helmet due to the photochromic sheild. I get caught up in riding in day and night and that shield would definitely eliminate the hassle of choosing which shield or carrying an extra. Also, I went to the Pony and tried one on and wow, what a fit. It felt like my head was surrounded by a cloud. So comfy and light. Any other helmet I tried on didn't even compare and I could see wearing that thing for hours on end and not have any comfort issues. Downsides: very pricey and their graphic schemes suck. I can't stand any of the schemes so I thought about having someone airbrush something on a matte black helmet until I found out how much airbrushing costs. Don't need to buy a $400 helmet, buy the shield for $120 and then sink another couple hundred into a paint scheme. The Scorpion Exo 500 fit pretty well too but didn't have as much padding in the crown as the Bell. I definitely like the Ardent as that graphic is appealing to me. Cost is A LOT less and it comes with a flip down sun visor. Downsides is that it's not as comfy and that flip down visor isn't all that dark so I'm not sure how it'll hold up in direct sunlight (eyes are very sensitive to sun). Plus, they don't have the photochromic shield like Bell does. Any opinions on which brand to go with? Any personal experience with either of these? Wind noise, ventilation, etc. Thanks for any help you may give!

I'd like to jump ship to Verizon since AT&T is horrible but can't really justify "upgrading" from my 4 just because of Siri. Even though that is a badass feature. Probably just wait for the 5 to come out...

A lot of people ask me why I'm not riding when it's so nice out at night. This is the reason why. Deer are ALL OVER the place where I live. It sucks a big one not to ride when it's this nice out but I'm not going to risk it.
