  1. The Held Phantom gloves were the best of the best gloves on the market when they were first released. Now, more than 5 years later, there are still very few gloves that come close to surpassing them in terms of quality, protection and comfort. In the constantly advancing world of protective gear, it is very rare for something to still be rated this highly when other brands have had years to catch up. Held used nothing but the best high end Kangaroo leather for the main construction of the glove, with it doubled up in the palm for extra protection. All of it is held together with flat seems to keep you from feeling any pressure points when you bend your fingers. Vegan’s may want to stop reading now, because Kangaroos weren’t the only animal to give up their hide to protect your hands. Held also used incredibly abrasion resistant Stingray leather to add another dimension of protection to the palm and the tops of the knuckles on the pinky and ring finger. This stingray leather is backed by shock-absorbing gel pads that reduce the amount of energy transmitted to your hand and wrist in the event of a fall. On top of the hand you’ll find that the knuckles are covered by a carbon fiber shell, but not the kind you typically see. Held coats this protector in a ceramic/polymer matrix that has been woven with Kevlar fiber. Carbon fiber is also found on the side of the hand and wrist. The interior of the glove soft kangaroo leather with shock absorbing Suprotect and Kevlar lining the top half of the glove. This lining runs down the tops of the fingers and completely surrounds the pinky. The fact that the underside of the palm doesn’t have a thick lining means that they are very comfortable, flexible and provide excellent feedback from your bars. Held set the standard with the Phantom and other manufacturers have been playing catch up years. They sell for $289.99, but with the ability to survive multiple crashes, the Held Phantoms will last you much longer than just about any glove (other than the flagship Held Titan) which makes them well worth the price-point. The Held Phantom gloves are not yet listed on our website, so feel free to get in touch with Nathan if you’re interested or have any questions. You can shoot him PM or give him a call at 866.931.6644 ext 809. If you’d rather email us, send a note to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with HELD PHANTOM in the subject line and we’ll get back to you right away. Riders Discount stocks the Held Phantom gloves in black, but they can also be ordered in black/white, red/white, blue/white and green/white. The knuckles are protected by a carbon fiber shell that has been lined with ceramic/polymer matrix and Kevlar fiber. The palm of the Phantom glove features two layers of Kangaroo leather and a large stingray leather patch that sits on top of energy absorbing gel. Stingray also protects the knuckles on your pinky and ring finger.

  3. The Memphis Shades Batwing fairing is one of the most popular kits that the brand produces, and Riders Discount has them available to you, along with all of the accessories and mounting kits. The Batwing fairing can give your bike a clean, aerodynamic look and it allows you to choose between windshields in a variety of colors and heights. The fairing itself is 36.5” wide and 17” tall (excluding the windshield and optional deflectors), which will help give you a more comfortable ride with less wind-buffeting. The lightweight fairing only weighs about 5 lbs. thanks to the Lucite construction. It’s finish is an opaque black that is glossy on the outside, but it can also be painted with a little bit of prep work for additional customization. The inner structure is coated with ABS textured black plastic that allow for optional accessories such as wind deflectors, tri-pouch storage solution or a stereo system. The Batwing fairing can be installed on nearly any bike using the exclusive Trigger-Lock mounting mechanism. Once installed, the Trigger-Lock allows the Batwing fairing to be attached or detached in a moments time, allowing you to choose if you want the “dresser look” any time. The Trigger-Lock mounting kits are available your choice of polished or black for most Harley Davidson models and metric cruisers. Memphis Shades also offers a variety of optional accessories that allow you to customize the Batwing fairing set-up to suit your style. Windshields are available in four heights (5”, 7”, 9”, and 12”), as well as several colors. Trim pieces can be added for a bit of polished stainless steel to contrast the black of the fairing. You can also add in a tri-pouch storage kit or a Hogtunes' dual speaker, 50 watt amp stereo unit into the Batwing fairing. These are not available on our website yet, so get in touch with us if you’re interested or have any questions. Just let us know the exact model and year of your bike, as well as your windshield height, color preference and any optional accessories you'd like, and we’ll make sure you get the best deal around. 4. Alpinestars launched their re-designed SMX Plus boots last fall and they were an immediate hit. The 2011 SMX Plus had many of the same features as the top-of-the-line Supertech R, only boiled down into a more reasonably priced package. The new model was originally released in both standard and vented versions, but this wasn’t quite but this wasn’t quite enough for Alpinestars. In order to cover all of their bases, they added a third SMX Plus variant for wet weather - the SMX Plus Gore-Tex Waterproof boots. This new version of the SMX Plus uses a waterproof and breathable membrane from the weatherproofing gurus at Gore-Tex to help keep your feet comfortable 365 days a year. The Gore-Tex membrane really is the only thing that differentiates the newest addition to the SMX Plus line from the other two versions, but this is not a negative at all seeing as how the re-designed SMX Plus was already a very comfortable and protective boot. Protection comes in quite a few different forms on the SMX Plus Gore-Tex. Alpinestars added their new Multi Link Control system to the rear of each boot when they gave them the overhaul last year. This exoskeleton not only helps prevent excessive ankle joint movement in a fall, but also provides impact protection to both sides of the ankle and Achilles heel. Additionally, the system gives you one more highly abrasion resistant layer between your foot and the road. The Multi Link Control system is made up of three separate parts. These include the TPU heel cup, a lower pivot joint at the sides of the ankle, and an upper link that slides through a tunnel located in the center of the calf protector. The whole system pivots and flexes comfortably without interfering with any movements on, or off the bike. All of this sits on top of durable rubber sole that is designed to last. The sole’s grip pattern features rain siping that will help you keep your feet on the pegs even if you’re pushing it in wet weather. Inside the boot you will find a microfiber liner that is both soft and breathable. Alpinestars also used a liberal amount of open cell foam in all the right places so that it quickly molds to the shape of your feet to provide protection and a perfect fit. To further insure a good, snug fit, they added a Kevlar speed lace behind the outer layer. The SMX Plus gives you solid and reassuring feeling while remaining surprisingly flexible. These are not listed on our website yet, so be sure to get in touch with Nathan if you're interested or have any questions. Nathan can be reached by calling 866.931.6644 ext. 809, or by sending him a PM through this forum. If email is more convenient, feel free to shoot a message to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM and we’ll get back to you right away! MSRP $449.95 The SMX Plus Gore-Tex Boots can be had in any color you want, as long as it’s black. The Multi Link Control system uses three separate parts to support the ankle and prevent hyperextension. It does both of these things while remaining very flexible. The soles of the SMX Plus Gore-Tex boots use rain sipes to quickly shed water and enhance your grip in wet weather. A look inside the boots reveals the Kevlar speed lace system. This system gives a firm, comfortable grip that improves feel and increases the level of protection by ensuring that the safety mechanisms are properly aligned. The Gore-Tex name is synonymous with weather-proofing.

  12. The extremely popular Cortech Latigo boots are now available in a non-perforated version - exclusively at Riders Discount! These boots are designed to provide a high degree of comfort and protection at a steal of a price. Protection comes from molded thermoplastic polyurethane armor that is used for the heel cup and shin guard. These armor plates disperse energy over a larger area and are backed with an impact absorbing foam material for shock absorption and comfort. An autolocking zipper runs the length of the inner-facing side that, when opened, allows the foot to slip easily in or out. The zipper itself is covered with an adjustable Velcro flap on the upper portion that also features a bellows for added fore/aft flexibility. Leather stretch panels are also sewn in behind the Achilles and at the top of the front arch, further aiding natural fore/aft movement. To prevent the pain and injury of rolling the foot inward/outward, a rigid thermoplastic polyurethane heel guard limits this type of unnatural movement. This is something you will be thankful for in some situations! Up front, the toes are covered by Cortech’s TecnoGI thermoplastic toe cap and a replaceable toe slider for added safety. Inside all of this, your foot will be stood atop a pre-formed orthopedic foot bed that absorbs vibration, resists bacterial growth and helps your skin breath for a high degree of comfort in warmer weather. Best of all, these boots are very reasonably priced, especially considering the level of safety and protection they offer. These are only available at Riders Discount and we can get them to you for just $115 shipped in the lower 48 states. 22. With temperatures hitting record highs all over the US during the past month, many riders are looking for ways to stay cool. Riders Discount doesn’t want comfort to come at the sake of protection, which is why today’s spotlight is on the Alpinestars T-GP-R Air jacket. Built on the same pattern as the extremely popular GP-R perforated leather jacket, the T-GP-R Air uses a combination of durable textile and mesh to provide tons of air-flow without giving up too much in the way of safety. The shell of the T-GP-R Air is constructed using 600D polyester so that it remains very lightweight, while still providing a high level of abrasion resistance. This textile is complemented by large mesh panels that have been strategically positioned to allow a great deal of ventilation through both the front and back. Most mesh jackets are for hot weather only since the same areas that let air in can also let water through, but that is not the case with this one. Alpinestars made the T-GP-R Air very versatile by including a removable, long-sleeved water/wind resistant liner for less than favorable weather conditions. Inside the jacket you will find CE certified Bio Armor in the elbows and shoulders, as well as foam padding in the back and chest. Both the back and chest can be easily upgraded to CE certified Bionic inserts from Alpinestars. If an upgraded back protector is something you are looking to add, we recommend going with the Bionic Air insert. It’s honeycomb shaped pockets allow warm air to escape from your back and out the mesh panel on the rear of the jacket. The Alpinestars T-GP-R Air is a high quality, versatile jacket that will help you beat the heat and stay safe at the same time. You can get yours from Riders Discount by getting in touch with Nathan at 866.931.6644 ext. 809, or by sending him a PM through this forum. If email is more your thing, feel free to shoot a message to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM and we’ll get back to you right away! The T-GP-R Air jacket is available in black... Black/Yellow/White... And Black/White. There is also a Black/White/Red that is currently out of stock. The mesh is designed to let the maximum amount of air to flow through it, while still offering abrasion resistance. The included water/wind resistant liner zips out and is so lightweight that it can be packed nearly anywhere.
