  1. You mean crank, not cam? Pics aren't coming up for me so I assume you men crank. Idk if you want to grind down crank journals, those are bearing diameters and have very tight tolerances. The reason its knocking in the first place is there is too much clearance between the rod and the crank journal. New crank, new rod and new piston is more likely the proper fix.
  2. Ok, if that's the one with the rod knock it should be ok, if the knock is bad enough they slap around and scuff like that. Check the cyl walls, if they're torn up you may have to either eBay up a good stock jug or find a .030 over kit and a boring mill.
  3. Ok so its def the rod bearing then? If you can access the crank thru the bottom of the motor via removing the oil pan you should be able to remove the rod and inspect the crank journal if you have a 1-piece crank/2-piece rod type motor. The skirts of those pistons look a bit cooked, like someone ran it out of oil or water, could just be a Shitty pic tho
  4. Oh derp. I'm looking at the alternator rotor in the first pic aren't I? Lol. I'm not super familiar with these motors but why split the cases? Is the knock in the rod bearing or the wrist pin? Can you just pull the pan and UN-cap the rod and swap it out or is it a pressed together crank? If its just piston slap simply replace the wrist pin, circlips and rings, deglaze the jug and slap it back together.
  5. At that range it becomes like archery. 2 feet of hold-over ought to do it.
  6. There may be some bolts under the oil pan. Pretty sure you want to yank the clutch basket before splitting cases.
  7. Can't find them on their site, please post link.
  8. Th cm450 is very different than the cb450 motor. The cm has coil valve springs and lower compression and power output. The cb450 had torsion bars that kept upward pressure on the valves and could be run much harder for that reason. Usually when you scatter a top end its because you over-revved and set up a harmonic resonance in the coil valve springs, causing the valve to float and the piston to crash into it. With torsion bars, you cannot have a harmonic resonance interfere with valve movement, so the motor can be spooled up to higher rpms safely. Its a great design but heavy, which is probably why Honda only did it in one motor. Replace your float valve seats and needles and it will stop leaking.
  9. Good on the boy for not taking the lie too far, I'd be out back cutting a switch if that were me tho, my dad hates liars and thieves and didn't appreciate it one bit when I acted like either. Sounds like you're doing it right, kid should remember this lesson forever.
  10. Honda cb 450 twin (the one with torque arms instead of valve springs). I actually know where one is at right now, not sure if it runs or not but those mills were pretty bulletproof.
  11. I got a gun for my wife.....I think it was a good trade.
