  1. Trying to get out Sunday. I haven't been out in a few weeks so the Aprilia is calling my name. Depending on the group, we can adjust the meet spot and time. I'm hoping to get down near Marietta and into the 255/536 area. Anyone interested in putting down some miles before the snow flies?
  2. Sorry I had to skip out Sunday morning fellas. That's the worst I've felt in a long time. Fortunately I made it to the side of the road before I had to clean out the inside of my helmet. Hope you guys got some miles in. Turned out to be a beautiful day.
  3. Ok Nivin. Just post in this thread or send me a PM. I'll make sure to check, and if we're in the same area we'll detour to find you. Ride safe, brother.
  4. Nivin, if you can give me an idea where you will be and when I can try to make sure we're in position to meet up.
  5. Sounds good guys. New Concord at 9:30. Kickstands at 10.
  6. Sounds good Jim. Does it work for everyone to meet in Otsego or New Concord? I'm good with either. Justin, I think you're coming from the South so New Concord is better for you. Is that right?
  7. Sounds good guys. I'll update the thread with more details as the plan and participants come into focus.
  8. I'd like to get out Sunday and put down some miles. I'm thinking I'll head to the good roads out of Marietta off of the river... (800, 255, 536, etc). Meet in New Concord Sunday morning. Anyone interested?
  9. The argument that the confederacy was fighting for state's rights is utter and complete nonsense. The confederacy was fighting for state's rights... TO OWN SLAVES. It's right in the confederacy's constitution that all confederate states will allow the ownership of slaves. Now...removing confederate statues because we are so easily offended that we can't view a monument in historical context without getting a sad...these people need to get a grip. Removing evidence of the past doesn't negate the past. Changing and acting differently DOES.
  10. The value on OR compared to social media is like the difference between an encyclopedia and a happy meal box... Facebook being the fast food reading... I think that definitely has something to do with the lack of anononymity here. We all know each other, and so we moderate our opinions like reasonable adults should. Social media, and thus our entire culture, has become a mosh pit of half-baked, least common denominator, childish, I-can-type-louder-than-you ideas. And that one very powerful, very polarizing element is taking civilization down a path of destruction. The world has never seen the the power of this form of communication. It has (maybe past tense 'had' is more appropriate) the potential to be a global force for good and positive change. But social media has devolved into a cesspool of failed ideologies, hate, misinformation, lies, fools, and propaganda. And I don't think anyone knows how to fix it. Ive come to a point where I no longer attempt to make rational arguments for my Conservative/ Libertarian beliefs. It's pointless. Nobody cares and nobody listens, and I'm not changing any minds. So now, my entire purpose for my freedom of speech is to ask people from all sides to stop allowing themselves to be polarized and defend their personal bias, and to try to empathize with those you disagree with, and spend your time trying to find common ground. If we continue to stand and fight from our bias we will never find a solution to the division in our society. I'll never concede that more government is an answer to our problems. That's a principle I believe to my core. But I don't have to argue that point every time you ask me to concede that gays, blacks, and minorities deserve equal rights and haven't had them. Just like you can concede that maybe it's a good idea to at least monitor who comes in and out of the country. I can concede that not all Muslims are terrorists and in fact most aren't. Just like you can call Black Lives Matter members chanting "Murder Cops" in the streets just as repugnant as Nazis. But nobody right now will concede a damn thing! Everyone thinks they're so damn correct. Independent intellectual analysis is far more difficult than reiterating what BuzzFeed and CNN and Breitbart told you. And until everyone can concede SOMETHING we are going to kill each other. And it makes me terribly sad, because America as an idea, as an ideal, as a philosophy is better than this.
  11. Read Bonhoeffer's "On Stupidity". It applies to all sides. People have abandoned logic in favor of the party ideals fed to them. They no longer think for themselves. And they no longer empathize because they consider anyone that doesn't think like them to be an enemy, or an appeaser. The Left is intentionally trying to destroy this President. It's disgusting. And the Right shouldn't have elected the moron in the first place. I have come to the realization recently that there is no fixing this and it's all going to end in violence and pain. https://www.google.com/amp/s/religiousgrounds.wordpress.com/2016/05/11/bonhoeffer-on-stupidity-entire-quote/amp/
  12. Gotcha. I want a gimbal mount to keep the horizon level. Nothing else compares. I'll still record footage...it's just nowhere near as good.
  13. Definitely bring the gimbal. I'll have my GoPro, or 2. My biggest complaint with them though is the footage lacks a reference point with the horizon tilting with the bike. Drives me crazy.
  14. Anyone else doing their first track day? I have no idea what to expect. Would be nice to have someone in the same boat.
  15. I am signed up, or at least have contacted the track. What is the cost on a garage?
  16. So you're trailering Andy? Do the Columbus guys want to meet somewhere for breakfast?
  17. How does this work? Does everyone usually get there Sunday and spend the night, so they're ready early Monday morning? Tents? Sleep in cars?
  18. That's awesome....looks great! And removes the dumpster sized catalytic converter etc etc on the FZ09. Great bike! Has he upgraded that rear shock? They're absolute trash from the factory.
  19. I sincerely doubt it. We're only getting a partial eclipse here in Ohio, and it isn't supposed to last all that long. Probably won't be darker than a cloudy day.
  20. Yeah....I'll admit, I didn't know the route...and rarely do. I know 80% of the roads down there, so if I make a mistake I can usually get caught back up with the group. That's exactly what happened Saturday. Apologize you guys had to wait for me, but maybe it was for the best since Todd had something come up that he needed to handle. To be honest, I don't necessarily think knowing the route is the solution. I think being honest and vocal about one's abilities and pace, and splitting yourself into a group was the solution Saturday. Nobody wants to boss people around (i.e. "you're in group a, you're in group b, you suck go home"). So if we have 12 riders and someone says let's get into groups, give them a hand. Anyway, it ended up working itself out in the end, as we only had 6 bikes in the ride for the duration.
  21. Great ride guys! Sorry to hear about the off Nivin. My wife works nights and can relate, all to well, to trading sleep for fun. I have to be honest, when you post that you're foregoing sleep to ride, I worry about you. Imagine we all do. Anyway, glad you're ok brother. Ride was a blast. The more I get comfortable on the FJR, the more I realize you guys on legitimate sport bikes are slow
  22. MaxPower and I are planning to meet at the TA at 70/37 at 9:30 or so. @what and @jacobhawkins, if you guys see this in the morning, meet there and we'll all ride to New Concord together.
  23. Where are you two meeting? I'll join you guys on the FJR.
