Essentially it's at the base of the Cherohala. 3094 Santeetlah Rd, Robbinsville, NC 28771
-
So, the plan is the 10-15 of July. We have the AirBnb for the 10-13 and Marion, VA the night of the 14th. I probably couldn't get away with leaving Ohio on the 9th and I don't think the guys will want to leave the AirBnB on the 13th. So it's probably a no, for leaving the evening before.

Not sure yet. I'll be solo going down, so I was considering meandering through KY. Would love any ideas you have for that. Blank slate!
-
Yessir, that's correct. If the route from the Gap to the Devil's Triangle to Marion is too long (over 350 miles) then just get me from the Gap to Marion, including 421, and if you could include a loop from the Gap back to the Gap that includes Devil's Triangle and Coal Creek that I could do another day while down there, that would be great. Thanks Jim! Would also love any other routes of the area you have, just to browse through.

When are you headed down, Durk? I'll be there in a couple weeks.
-
Hey guys, I've ridden these roads perhaps half a dozen times with some of you and I know these areas fairly well, but I am headed down with some guys that haven't ridden most of the roads outside of the TotD area and I'm leading, so I need maps. I'd like to take two days from the Gap back to Ohio. If I recall, it's possible to loop in Rocky Top, TN (Coal Creek Smokehouse) with Devil's Triangle and Brushy Fork as well as 421 the Snake while ending in Marion, Va. Am I wrong in my recollection? Looking at the map, that seems like a long trip. If that's not possible, please provide routes from the Gap to the 421 area and back of the dragon ending in Marion. I know that's possible..... I think. I know from Marion, I essentially take 16 North to get home. Any other suggestions from Marion to get back? Also, any routes you guys have of the Gap area would be appreciated. I would really like to loop in Blood Mountain. I do know the Wolfpen Gap to Clayton, GA, back over the Cherohala route. Any riffs on those would be great too. If possible, please post maps or GPS data files. The combined motorcycle route knowledge in this forums is immense. Thankful for all that you guys know.

Just cleaning out the garage and have a few things to get rid of. Prices are negotiable. I’ll throw it all in one box and ship if someone was interested in some used gear for a cheap package price. Some of this stuff is definitely bts. But it’s worth something, I figure. XSS jacket is new, never worn. Size 48/58. Asking $75 Icon jacket is a size Large. Asking $75 Alpine Stars low cut boots, size 45. $75 Sidi Cobra Air boots. Good condition. Size 44. $75 White Alpine Stars jacket. Size 56/46. Has hole and damage on right shoulder. $50 Black Alpine Stars jacket. GP Pro Plus. 58/48. Damage to zipper and hole in back...otherwise good shape. $50 Tank lock plate and case. Bag is in rough shape but locking plate is brand new. $100 I’d put it all in a box and ship it for $300. Any questions, let me know.

I knew when I was watching episode 1 and they said they were going with Harley electric motorcycles with a range of like 130 miles, that it was going to be stupid. I've watched through episode 2 and can't get into it. I read the 1st two books and watched the series, but this electric bike thing is just dumb. I'm all for innovation and the future. Hell, I could see myself owning an electric bike one day. But this electric decision rooted in making political statements completely changed their trip. I doubt they'll say it, but I bet they regretted it big time.

L I ripped off the abs sensor the night before a trip. Had to panic solder it back together. Was fortunate to save the sensor. But that caliper/ rear wheel is a bad design by Yamaha.
-
Yeap... and Andy essentially has the exact wheel, sensor and caliper I have. It’s a bitch! Anything that improves what Yamaha did with that rear wheel and caliper is worth the $$.

Jackets for sale. Older model black Alpine Stars jacket. No damage but it’s well worn in. Perfect for a newer rider looking for excellent protection. $200 obo Alpine Stars GP Pro Jacket. $600 new but it has some damage from an incident. Nothing that makes it unserviceable. Some slight leather repair would be beneficial. $250 obo Icon Leather Dayton’s jacket This was my first leather jacket and it’s a great piece of gear. Comfortable. Excellent zips and vents. Needs a little cleaning but the price is right. $75 obo ISXS leather jacket Sport oriented. Bought from Iron Pony last year. Condition is like new. Lots of zips and waterproof vents. Great jacket just a little smaller than some of my other jackets so it gets used less. My loss is your gain. $100 obo Sizes of all jackets should be pictured. Don’t like my price, make an offer. I’ll ship if you pay for it.

I’m recording FOX News at 10. They didn’t have a 5 or 6 o’clock news like ABC6. If it’s any better I’ll post it.
-
So, ABC had a two minute piece on it but it showed the governor and not your face. And the other 1:50 of it was two terrible interviews with people that couldn’t effectively make the argument for why earplugs are important. I can post it, but it’s probably not worth it.

I can do that. Or at least I will try.

Yeah, I have my foam earbuds wired through my helmet and attached to my SENA. The SENA doesn't have an output to bluetooth. So to make wireless work, I'd have to have a 3.5" jack transmitter attached to the SENA output and the wireless earbuds bluetooth connected to the transmitter. And then, none of the voice commands would work. SENA doesn't have a good option for wireless earbuds....which makes no sense to me. That is, unless they have a new product. I'll have to check out those full ear foam buds. I've considered them before. Will await your review @Tonik

I have access to a 650 Vstrom, whenever I would like.....if some ADV riding becomes commonplace around here.

This entire dog and pony show is a joke. It quite possibly has NOTHING to do with Trump and has everything to do with the Democrats trying to displace Biden from the race. Bottom line it, if you FULLY believe ANY of them and declare one side right and the other side DEMONS.....you are unable to set aside your personal confirmation bias and try to use logic and reason to get to the bottom of it. We are all being lied to. @Pauly Trump may very well be corrupt and there may very well be reason for him to investigated. After listening to this, you can't say substantial evidence doesn't exist for the exact same charge against the Bidens.

Gentlemen, I enjoyed it. Roads were great. Lunch was t bad. And the weather was perfect! Looking forward to our best one. All you guys that bailed, you missed out. Ah well, maybe next time.

Pauly is having mechanical issues. He’s out. I’m en route. Should be there 10-10:15.
-
I plan to be there. I’ll text Pauly if I can’t make it.
-
Couldn’t agree more. Pretty much decided during this trip that the Goldwing is my retirement bike. And maybe I’ll own one a little earlier than that, considering the wife enjoys riding two-up.
-
Yep...was a good trip. If anything, I’m a more experienced motorcyclist for having ridden 1000 miles of wet road...in 5 days. Apparently the weather event that was our vacation was national news. 8+ inches of rain in some places down there. 3-4 almost everywhere we rode. Anyway, good people, good (wet) roads and beautiful scenery. I can think of worse ways to spend my time. I wish it would have been more dry, but I wished in one hand and crapped in the other.... don’t ask me why I crapped in my hand

Me too Yamaha Doc. Let ‘er rip. Typos or not, you can ride with me any time. Glad you’ll be down there with us!
