  1. Don't buy the car before you get the job :)! I could totally see someone pulling something shady like this.

To me does seem a bit odd, but if as good as it sounds is a good opportunity. I would suggest some sort of formal contract explaining how you will be paid, when you will be paid, and what your duties are. You could get as detailed as you want, but at least cover your base. I don't think you are in over your head unless you have no interest in learning.

  2. I drew blood on people for a couple years, I really don't know the anatomy that well and didn't really need it for the job. Were talking thousands of people I drew blood on and many had no veins or veins that would move as you attempted to penetrate them.

That being said, it is not a very complicated process on a person with nice solid squishy veins.

I have never had anyone complain about their arm or finger hurting/numb to the extent you are describing when I drew blood on them, or from any other person I worked with. On hard to get veins there are times where the needle would be moved around in different directions... I've seen people have their blood drawn from their arteries at the wrist/forearm rather than from veins and still have never heard that complaint.

I'm not a doctor and it has been a short while since I worked in the medical field. Anything is possible, but dang, what the heck did they do? Seems odd, but I'm no doctor.

  3. Ive rode blasts before and while the model name was quite an overstatement i think im beginning to like them. Ive gotten rid of my fast bikes within recent years and have all slow bike. But the fun factor is definetly still there. Could you provide me a link to a good site for blasts. The one pictured looks pretty sweet

    Best place for Blasts... http://www.buellridersonline.com.

    Why a Blast?

  4. Trans is clunky, but workable. Get a Baker Trans Drum for $250-$300 and it should be smooth. I'll be getting one in the coming weeks. Redline can be raised with aftermarket ignition ($100 I think) and valve springs (cheap). I have mine set at 7500, another person I know has their's set to 8k. I believe stock valve springs might be able to make it to 6800?

You can cut the front peg off and weld it on to the rear pegs. A few people have done that and there is a guy I know that will do it for you. This is his bike (look at pegs):

Handling can be improved with suspension upgrades and new tires (pirelli diablo).

If you are really interested in learning more, I'm happy to provide more/specific information

  5. CrazySkullCrusher, I got in touch with Rick today. He seemed knowledgeable and able to do all boring and crank services I would need. He didn't give me a quote on the crank service, but said $150 to bore the case.

J_Copeland, haven't gotten in touch with Randy yet. Called him today, but no answer.

I created a post for those of you who continue to ask me why. Keep this thread focused on the topic.

    Thread is here:

    Why a Blast?

  6. Yeah, I know nrhs pretty well, also Hammer Performance and Rev Performance. I have considered a bolt on in the past, but I'd like to go further on this bike and see what I can get out of it.

I have an XB crank coming in the mail, had to split the case to check the tranny, so everything is basically in place. Might as well do it.

I avoid sending the case to NRHS, for example, their prices are high and I'd have to pay for shipping (which is even more). NRHS will bore a Blast case for 157.50. There are companies online that will do a twin for $125 and less. I would imagine a single would be at most half that price to bore the case.

  7. Bumping the thread. I have been searching up and down and still can't find anyone.

I've found places that do cylinder boring, and some who do car engines, but nobody that will bore a motorcycle engine case.

I called Dave's and he said he wasn't able to do it because the case would have to be split. I have the case split, but I could easily bolt it together to get a bore without the split. I sent him a follow up email to see if he could pull it off that way.

    Anybody have any more leads?

Also looking for someone to work on a crankshaft for me. Need to put a different rod on, lighten it, and have it balanced.

I'm actually a bit surprised there aren't more places that are able to bore engine cases with all the bikes and racing we have around here.

  8. The Blast has half a Harley XL/Buell XB motor in it. XB owners and XL owners do it all the time. I already have an XB/XL head, XB cams, XB springs, and XB piston running on the bike right now. I can rip just about anything off of an XL or XB and it will fit on my bike. It can be done and has been done multiple times.

  9. To what I am reading, I need to bore to 4.005 which could get me a cylinder with my current crank to around 585cc. Maybe a touch more. With an XB12 crank I could probably get myself over 600, I would think.

  10. Thanks for the info. so far!

Well I'm glad I started this thread :)... I am having to rip into the case anyway.

I'd like to put a 625 cc cylinder from a 1250 cc XB kit onto my bike, eventually. Far future, re-balanced XB12 crank.

Curious to know. Is it possible to bore the case, but also have a spacer in there temporarily so I can run on my current setup until I get all the stuff?
