This is the group we got our puppy through. Here is a very cute lab/German Shephed mix. It is a puppy though. They were nice to work with. In New Philly. Not sure where you are at. They did ask questions and just wanted to get an overall feel for the environment but not nasty in any way. Good luck with your search!!! http://h2erescue.com/individual/?album=2466

You won't be picking up a healthy german shepherd for $200 from any breeder so the fee is not that bad. I don't have a problem with the fees. The puppies in most rescues go very quickly but the older dogs often need foster homes or care for quite some time so you are paying a fee to cover the whole operation not just the one dog you get. We just adopted a puppy from a group in New Philadelphia that rescues puppies from the Amish. They refuse to fix their work dogs and many of the puppies ended up in bad places. They asked a lot of questions but were pretty reasonable. Some of the places I had spoken with during the process were a bit invasive and I just passed on them. They almost made you feel like you had to beg/convince them to give you a dog. I'm all for checking out people but do it politely. Mary

now that there's funny, don't care who you are.......

That picture you have is pretty accurate except we keep our helmets on to add to the mystery and some of us are able to make sammiche's at the same time. Mary

Gunner75 - Glad to hear that you are OK. Anybody who feels the need to ride at an extreme pace - really should get off the street and do some track days or race. Best thing my husband and I ever did for our street riding is start racing. You learn a lot. You will most likely crash. We both did -several times - but having medical personnel around is huge. We both are better riders because of the track. We are more cautious on the street and less crazy (age helped with that one too And crashing on the track and getting hurt humbles you. The feeling of being invincible fades quickly. This isn't to say that you can't have fun on the street - we still do a decent pace but we are no where near as crazy as we used to be. Having said all that, you can still crash on the street. Stuff happens. Gravel occurs. Brain farts will fly. Be safe and know your own limits and if you believe - pray for your safety and the safety of others. Mary

My husband's Monster S4RS with Ohlins front and back were very soft from the factory. We replaced them with heavier springs. On my bike the springs were fine but I had to replace the valving. All the bikes are set up for different rides and most monster riders are more laid back and want a cushier ride. At least, I'm assuming that is the thought process. Mary

Welcome! Mary -
Actually, it wasn't that bad. I actually found myself resting on it occasionally. I rode that bike with a tank bag frequently but only rarely that large though. That was full expansion and then some. But the getting on and off really was a challenge since I'm a shortie.

Thought you'd get a kick out of this. This was a trip to Georgia and several surrounding states a while back. It was very hard to get on and off the bike. It wasn't easy but you can turn an f4i into a packing machine.

Sold.

That's cool. Us "Douchy Duc" riders don't want to be associated with you. You clearly are not cut out for a bike with character and quirks (Ducati or Aprilia), go Japanese. And anybody who has a "ball and chain" should probably get a Busa because of all that extra weight. Mary

Tire is sold. Thank you Will. Nice to meet you!! Mary

Ha! You don't want us riding with you early in the season. Way too many kinks to work out. Both in the bikes and us. My husband was having problems with his clutch. We just put a new clutch in and he didn't have one of the springs seated properly so it was giving him some problems. I had figured we might cross paths again at some point but it didn't happen. Mary

Yeah, that was us. Nice to see you all. Sometimes we go out for a ride and are lucky to see another bike or two but we saw a ton on Saturday! Glad you all had a good trip. Mary

That looks awesome but really remote. Is it as remote as it looks? Are there any cities/towns nearby to stay at? My husband and I are going to go out west and rent some bikes, just not sure where at. Mary

Yeah. Two Ducs. A red 1098 and a white/red Monster S4Rs. Mary

does anybody have any thoughts on Boom mic vs universal (flat) mic? The boom mics fit in our helmets but I'm thinking the universal would be a better fit but does one have a better quality than the other? Specifically as related to wind noise? Thanks. Mary

I think we may have seen your group on 520, we were going the opposite direction. Did you guys hit 520? Mary

Well, we just bought the Q2's and finally had a chance to use over a 4 hour period. I am NOT satisfied with the quality and will be returning them. We bought two that were supposed to be paired from the factory. They were not. Finally got them synced and all seemed good. First time out, they unpaired not far into the ride. Went out again on Saturday and we were constantly working to get them paired again when it is supposed to pair up immediately upon powering up. Lots of wind noise came through. My husband had to turn his off because the noise was bothering him which defeats having them in the first place. And although the volume was fine, the clarity wasn't always there. We bought these mostly for the rider to rider intercom feature but my husband did set up the Bluetooth for iPhone. We got lost at one point and he tried to use it to get directions and it couldn't recognize what he was saying. Maybe we got a defective unit but I'm voting fail on the Q2's. I'm going to return these and try the Sena next. Hope it works better. Mary
