  1. Like I said, seriously questionable clothing. Last time we went was 2009 and it was not that crowded. We only went on Superbike race day so maybe it was just an off day. The only must see thing for us in Daytona is Hooters. Now that they don't have them up on Cleveland anymore, we seek them out in other states and yes, I realize I am weird. My husband and I used to own a SeaDoo rental business off the back dock of Hooters back in the flats heydays and we got very acclimated to the food. Mary
  2. We've gone twice. Stayed in St. Augustine once and Orlando the other time. St. Augustine is the oldest city in the US or something like that. About a 45 minute drive. I think Orlando was an hour but there's TONS of stuff to do there. I don't care for the current state of the AMA so I can't comment on that but even in the stands, viewing the race isn't the best. The Supercross race on the other hand was fantastic. Lots of loud Harley's and seriously questionable clothing but it did sure make for some interesting people watching. Mary
  3. I'm looking at those as well. Anybody tried them yet? How's the fit and comfort. Went to Iron Pony last year to look at textile pants and all of them fit like ski pants or sit really really low which kind of defeats the concept of protection. Although, I don't think any of the men's gear is cut as stupid as that. Somebody told me that Rev It are some A-star former employees and their ladies cuts are much better than the other brands. Not sure if that is true or not. Northern Ohio Ducati carries the brand so I'm going to try and make it out there to check them out in person soon. Mary
  4. Congrats! We have an Otterbox for the Ipad and it's a really nice product. My 2 year old drops it all the time and the cover works great. It's not waterproof though so don't know about that. I resisted forever and then got the 4s for work and I'm totally an Apple convert now. My next laptop will be an Apple. Mary
  5. Thanks! It would really match your bike perfectly!
  6. Well, I actually didn't want the internal visor and prefer a dark shield but I like the helmet and the price was in line with what I was willing to pay. I really wanted this helmet below but $800 crossed the line. I paid $650 for my Haga and Beattie years ago but this is just too much. Love the helmet though. IOM Doohan Replica. Quite sweet!
  7. Check this web site out. They have LOTS of helmet reviews and actually have a fit guide like you are talking about. http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-helmets/motorcycle-helmet-shapes.htm
  8. Yeah, I kind of figured that Nelson was still a hole. Although my husband and I always joked around that we probably wouldn't know where to break or turn in if they ever did pave the track.
  9. Ha! What I need is for my kids to get older so I don't have to pay for daycare anymore and that way I can get a dedicated track bike again! How's the pavement at Nelson these days?
  10. Yeah, we did that with our race helmets too. Just bought closeouts. We have a mighty impressive helmet hall of shame I can't get myself to throw them out regardless of how trashed they are. I have one helmet where I high-sided at Putnam and the way I landed made a perfect smiley face on the back. Quite odd but at least my helmet had a sense of humor. Mary
  11. I've been in an Arai for while now and am going back so I'm looking forward to it. The Arai was very nice but seemed louder and I hated changing the visor. I think Shoei is much simpler but this has a built in sun visor so that may be a none issue. Although I still really like dark shields for the look. Mary
  12. Thanks Nathan from RidersDiscount. Can't wait to check this out! That and for the weather to break so I can ride again. Shoei GT-Air
  13. Hello, I'm looking to purchase this helmet. I know they have set list prices, do you have any discounts? Thanks. Shoei gt-air journey tc-1
  14. Love that bike. Good find! My husband has bar end mirrors on his Monster and they work well. My mirrors are worthless but now they are red and worthless Congrats!
  15. Might need to plan another trip for east of 77 this year. We stayed mostly on the west side last year because there was so much new pavement. Hopefully they will pave more of the above mentioned roads this year. Some of the roads that had been partially paved were sweet! Mary

    IMS Cleveland

The show isn't as good as it used to be - smaller less stuff to look at BUT it's still interesting and worth going too. After all these years, I still like sitting on different bikes. Mary
  17. With so many foreclosures, the rental market is very tight right now so the price is probably in line. Do run credit and background checks - there are lots of online services that will do this for you for a pretty small fee. Verify their employment. Call previous landlords for references. Charge for pets. Assume the place will get damaged and hope it doesn't. We built a new house just before the market collapsed so selling our old house was really difficult. Two mortgages for two years. Not fun. The second year we rented our house out and had a really good tenant. Your location has a lot to do with dictating what type of tenant you will have. I live in a nice city, I had nice people looking at the house. My parents are truly slum lords (didn't start that way but the part of town deteriorated) in the heart of Cleveland and their tenants are beyond horrible. You also may want to look into how any disputes are handled. I assume that Mentor has it's own court system but if you have to go through Cleveland for tenant disputes, I'd run as fast as you can. A good property management company can help you with all of this. Good luck. Mary

    Wow BMW!

Too funny! I saw that and immediately heard Tina Turner singing Thunderdome!
  19. Might be going to Florida in March. Any roads or scenic routes worth riding in the Orlando or Tampa areas? Found a place that rents Triumphs that looks interesting. A couple of years ago we rented some Harleys and cruised around Clearwater/St. Pete but it was boring and tons of traffic. I know Florida is even less curvy than Northeast Ohio so I'm not necessarily looking for twisties but I would like some scenery or maybe some destinations with hopefully low traffic? Thanks. Mary
  20. My kevlar jeans are very warm but I also ride a "hot" bike I'm looking at some of the rev it vented pants for this year. Mary
  21. How about a Hondamatic? A little out of your price range but she would have a bike that would last for a while longer than a scooter. http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/mcy/3411325718.html
  22. Cleveland/Akron area. Yes for all warranty work. http://www.ohiomotorcycle.calls.net/default.asp http://www.northernohioducatiandtriumph.com/ As I mentioned before, I'd do all(most) service with a Ducati dealer until you know (think) it is sorted. You definitely want to do the first and 7500 mile with them. After that, do whatever works for you. Congratulations on the bike. The Monsters are really fun and comfortable bikes. Very confidence inspiring. Also, make sure you give yourself some time to adjust to the power delivery. It will be much much different than your R6 but once you figure it out, you'll never want to go back. Mary
  23. Yup, $1,000 and that was cheaper than going to Ohio Ducati by a decent amount. We did change the belts on both bikes but that was just a minor cost in the grand scheme of things. Don't really know about the new Monsters but I'd have to assume it's similar. You can always call and ask just so you are prepared. Anyway, the routine maintenance isn't going to kill you cost wise, it's all the sweet farkle you can buy for these bikes.
  24. I think it is 7500 miles as well. Did my bike and my husband's S4RS last year - $1k each at Northern Ohio Ducati. I'd stick with dealer service for the first few years of the Ducs life and for the first service interval at least. Just in case. No offense to the other service people on the board but if you should have any issues, it's much easier to have a "discussion" with Ducati if you have done service through a certified dealer. Mary BTW - offer a little less than you are willing to pay and go from there. If it doesn't work out, you continue your search.
