IMO the snakes were slicker yesterday than when riding the same roads in the summer. It was either the cold or dirt, but I felt the rear slip a few times; something that I didn't feel last summer riding the same roads.
lol, you dont trust me to maintain a pace do you I'd say we kept to the "mundane to moderate pace" I mentioned earlier.....that is until Dave took the lead on 43 and opened it up a little I'm glad everyone could make it out! I was surprised how clean the roads were, turned out to be a pretty nice ride. A few degrees warmer and it would be just about right. Hopefully everyone enjoyed it and the pace wasn't far off from what was expected.
Just to make sure we dont forget anyone, from the Speedway at 71/303: Me JStump bshultz0930 From DQ for the loop: Me JStump bshultz0930 Hailwood dpgasser NightRider are you in or sticking around Columbus area? Weather is looking good fellas! Bike is finally off the rack ready to go, just need to load up and check the tire pressure. I like the 3rd route I posted up the most, if no one has any objections, I think that is the way we will go.
Well, I'm optimistic with the nice weather so I threw this together. Google says 2 hours 41 minutes, it can be shortened up by staying on 9 to almost 2 hrs flat. If anyone wants to do something different I open to other options.
The first two sessions of the October 14th trackday at Nelson was easily the coldest weather I've ever rode in. I think it was still in the mid 30's when we started. I had thermal leggings(old school kind) and tight T-shirt under my under armor heatgear long sleeve shirt. Add a coldgear hood(that I mistakenly didn't wear the first session). I felt great the whole time, and when it warmed up I removed the leggings and t-shirt and was ready to go for the afternoon sessions.
I won't be riding all that fast of a pace unless backtracking. And if I'm lying and I get comfortable, there is always the next stop to catch back up. I'll probably post up a route tomorrow for input. If anyone has a favorite stretch the feel like hitting let me know and I'll try to include it. If no one has any issues lets plan on leaving Bolivar at 12:30.
I may have some, not exactly sure where though. If not and you cant find any, weatherstripping or duct tape. My track bike came with duct taped, I'm going to clean it up a little, but probably still use tape, weatherstripping, or both.
Bolivar is what I had in mind, shortest slab for me to a decent ride. I was thinking of leaving here around 11. Probably leave Bolivar around 12:30. I'm flexible, but don't really want to freeze on the slab much early.
I'm going to take advantage of the warm weather Friday to work on the bikes in the unheated garage. Saturday I was thinking about going south for an hour or two....so four hour round trip from Cleveland. Don't have a route planned, honestly started looking at a map and got depressed because of the hour commute to and from any roads with turns and Cleveland. It will probably be a pretty mundane to moderate pace , but I may backtrack the same route to hit some known clean corners at a moderate to enthusiastic pace. May turn into a longer or shorter ride depending on comfort and conditions. If conditions look like shit, it will be a hour loop and return.
I have a few more things to work on before the street bike is ready to go, but I'm thinking it will all be done tomorrow. Anyone planning on riding Saturday?
