  1. I made a mistake in my previous post, meant to say 7/8 exhaust valves not 3/4 The feeler gauge that I have has both standard and metric values on it, not sure if a metric gauge has more discrete values or not. I don't have any shims yet, wanted to figure out if/what I needed first. Going from memory, the spec is .1-.2 mm for the intake and .2-.3 for the exhaust. I found all the intakes were either .128 or .152. All the exhaust valves save one had .152 or .176 clearance. The one that was in range was just over .2mm. I plan on collecting all the measurements a second time tonight and comparing to my previous numbers. Hopefully I'm using the feeler gauge correctly as I've never done this before. I expect a little bit of drag on insertion and removal as the gauge flexes to the right angle, but once inserted there should be little friction if it is the correct gauge? I tried inserting too thick of a guage and it felt like the spring compressed slightly and there was definetly more friction when moving the inserted gauge. I'll post up the values collected tonight and the corresponding shim thickness change.
  2. If I can figure out how to put the bike back together I'll be there.
  3. So I just got done checking the valve clearances, looks like all the intake valves are right in range and 3/4 exhaust valves are going to need shorter shims. Loosing .1 mm in shim height should put them all mid range. If anyone in the Cleveland area has done this before I'd love a second opinion before pulling the cams!
  4. Hopefully this works, never posted a video from my phone. Only used the rear facing camera for the ride and it went dead for a good portion of the ride.
  5. Trust me, do the track day. Last ride you looked like you wanted to go faster, and you are going to rack up plenty of miles on the street to, from, and at the gap. Come to the dark side.
  6. ^ one of my concerns riding with a camera
  7. I'll have 2 sets of q2's that look damn near new in the centers coming off soon.
  8. I'm hoping to get used and abused in race school, I need experience close proximity riding and dealing with passes while keeping my head down and pushing forward. Well that and learning how not to be slow as fuck.
  9. From a pure safety standpoint: Filtering stopped traffic at a slow speed - yes, it gets you out of a potential pinch point Splitting moving vehicles - no, it puts you into a situation where a moving vehicle may merge quickly while only observing the spot they are moving into; not expecting a motorcycle to be splitting traffic
  10. this took me off guard and I laughed water out my damn nose I'll be there friday and saturday for the race school. Haven't really thought much about racing; want to see how those two days go first.
  11. That is at 8k miles? Count your blessings and buy a new set of tires. Keep doing what you are doing because you pulled 1.5x the miles most riders would get on the same tire. I really doubt you will get 2k more miles of out that tire, but I don't think I've ever even past 6k on a rear let alone 8.
  12. I said F it and picked up the season pass. The multi-screen thing is pretty neat, but they really need to fix the syncing issues between the different screens and the audio. The timing screens were completely useless because they showed the end of the race the entire time.....oh and it was nice how the "feed" on the side kept trying to spoil the race. Ended up watching 90% of the race in the normal TV view maximized. I have to admit, it was pretty sweet having a splitscreen view of both Rossi and Marquez bikes during that battle. Exciting race!
  13. fun fun, now if I could find my damn feeler gauge
  14. I'll be riding the xr70. It should be around 5hp lol
  15. the only time you need to be afraid is when the track guys try to take you into their trailers In all seriousness Brandon is completely right. Everyone needs to ride their own pace/ride whether is a group ride or on your own. The downfall of group rides is people tend to think it needs to be a tight pack. Staying tight is an easy way to ride faster than your normal pace/experience/ability and not even realize it till it is too late.
  16. $130 if I got the conversion from Euros right
  17. We were going a bit quicker than advertised......I think everyone has learned to expect that from a Doc ride I'm sure everyone on the ride was perfectly fine with pausing for a moment for everyone to regroup. Hopefully it will warm up a bit more and we won't have to wear 15 layers to stay mildly warm for the next ride.
  18. Fun ride! The cold sucked on the way out, but the ride wasn't horribly cold. The roads were pretty good other than the normal debris and obstacles. Hopefully we get a nice heavy rain to clean the rest of the shit off and then it warms up after. Nivin, you were going at a pretty damn quick pace on the first road that was smooth. Then you hit the roads with rough surfaces and I really think it messed with your head, because you slowed down noticeably(not sure if you noticed). I don't want that to sound like it is a bad thing, because the ride isn't a race and hopefully everyone was riding at a pace they were comfortable with. You were a little less comfortable, and you slowed up; that is the right choice. My intention when coming to the front wasn't to drive everyone to go faster(unless they wanted to); I just wanted to practice a few things to try and break some bad habits I've formed over the years. I'm pretty happy going at a slower pace; the ride I led last week was slower than when you were in the lead today and I am still after both. BTW if you think that was crazy, you should have stuck with us on 43,39 and 542 Great ride man, I look forward to the next one!
  19. how is the video library? do they have all the races from recent years available? I'm really tempted to get the season....over the winter I've been watching a lot of last years wsb, bsb and ama races on youtube.
  20. anyone have the motogp.com videopass? Worth it? I don't have cable, so I'm considering it. It won't imbed, so here is a link to "Márquez off the line in Valencia -- A bird's eye view" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3k6llrYTfTw
  21. Come on sun, poke through the damn clouds. Feel better!
