  1. I was there a few years ago. Fun to walk through the red light district...get to see some real sights. Don't eat at the steakhouse that overlooks the lake. I forget the name but it was the worst meal I ever had at a restaurant and I think the bill for 2 was somewhere north of $250.
  2. They are money grabs, plain and simple. I know here in Cinci, there was a big lawsuit about the red light cameras and the courts forced them to take them down. Something about the accused are unable to face their accuser in court. Not sure how/if this applies to speed cameras.
  3. Looks like they may have filled up while off the bike
  4. Screw him...if he didn't have the brains or the motivation to provide a detailed model # and year, he probably was to lazy or stupid to do the maintenance on the bike. Tell him you'll trade a Ford for something.
  5. KTM 450 what? (ie what the letters afterwards, XC, etc) Also, what year? KTM used the RFS (racing four stroke) motor up until 2007 and those things we bullet proof. As mentioned, the KTM's generally require more frequent maintenance (oil and valve checks) but they are crazy good dual sports.
  6. The part about the cat was the best
  7. This makes my ass pucker just watching it...
  8. BTW - this is a pretty good site for finding them - http://www.bikefinds.com/
  9. This is kinda the slow time of year for bike sales...a few months ago when I was looking for a 400S, there were a bazillion SM's for sale. Be patient and you will find a gently used one all farkled up for a song.
  10. I think people forget that it's a public roadway and not the track. Just chill and ride.
  11. Yeah, alternate rearsets aren't going to be enough. I have test ridden a Super Tenere and that riding position is fine so I know there are a number of bikes out there that will work but I'll really miss the Z...it's one of the best all around bikes I've ever ridden.
  12. Nope, not if it's been at least minimally cared for.
  13. Oh yeah, that punk was over center.
  14. I think it may be about time that I sell my beloved Z1000 After my third knee surgery, the last being in late April, I've had issues sitting for moderate periods of time with my leg bent at acute angles without having a fair amount of pain that creeps in. The greater the bend, the quicker it begins to hurt. Surgery was done to repair some cartilage and it prior to the surgery, I was having severe pain so surgery did help. It just wasn't a cure. I've been commuting the last month or so on my Z (~35-40 min ride) and about halfway through, I get serious a knee ache. I'm going to give it a little more time to see if it improves (it has, a little) but I have quite a bit of arthritis in my knee thanks to age and numerous injuries and that's not going away. It has bothered me for years but now it's worse to the point that it makes me not want to ride the Z at all. I had planned on getting something more comfortable anyway (i.e. maybe a Super Tenere) but I was going to keep the Z for those times when I wanted something sportier. Now, I'm not so sure. Maybe I should've titled the thread, 'what a drag it is getting old'.
  15. You're right, that's a lot more effort and must take what, an extra 10 seconds?
  16. I have come across nozzles that do not auto-shut off several times although it's been a number of years since I've seen one and both times it was when I was fueling my car. I don't wait for the auto-shutoff when fueling the bike, I moderate the lever myself as needed.
  17. I've never spilled a meaningful amount either. Common sense to me is re-fueling while off the bike and in fact, is a law in many countries. Not getting off is lazy IMO but to each his/her own. Some other thoughts... http://www.megarider.com/Articles/refueling.html
  18. That's like saying if you paying attention while riding you won't wreck. Mistakes happen, mitigate the impact by planning ahead.
  19. Always get off unless you want to take the chance of overflowing into your lap
  20. I'll be riding tomorrow since I'm done tinkering with the DRZ
  21. I wouldn't say it's high and mighty, more like conservative. I spent a lot of time and money getting my bikes the way I want them and I'll be damned if I'll jack 'em up screwing around. Not to say that my front wheel never leaves the ground, only briefly. I never was any good on unicycles
  22. I don't even wheelie a dirt bike. Not worth the risk to body or bike. I guess I'm an old fuck anymore and my sense of self preservation is slowly overtaking my sense of adventure.
